it will come back to bite the IHRB on the backside.

I doubt it. It all seems to be a bit of harmless fun to his supporters over there. You know, he didn't kill that horse, did he?

It's in Britain where the backlash will be felt, with Cheltenham and the Grand National days away.

just as a caveat if he did appeal he would get the window for cheltenham because the 9th wouldn't count it would be from the appeal date? be amazed if he appeals though sand the bha could still block him i guess, so he needs his mate from down the road

If your an animal rights activist the last thing you want is this guy kicked out of the sport for good, they will be able to cause untold amount of damage milking that image going forward.

In 6 months time the msm will be all over this again and that's on the assumption that they haven't been sitting on, (no pun intended)something else and wanted to let the IHR mug themselves off first before releasing it.

Bet he won't be over to England for a long time. Plenty don't want to see this guy's face anymore. And that's racing fans.

Its a tough punishment to go along with the real punishment of him losing his best horses but warranted bu his stupid actions. Now everyone can move on.

That's it. The show is over. Move on. Everyone is entitled to make a mega mistake in their life time. This was never about animal cruelty merely a loss of common sense for a few seconds overtaken by an foolish prank.

The only punishment received is from Cheveley park. The authorities have effectively winked at him, and said don't allow photos of you on dead horses to be uploaded on social media gordon. Of course all his horses will continue to run under another name.

when i seen a year i though harsh , suspending half about right

tbh folk need to realise he will spend his life paying for it , drunken racegoers shouting obcenities , fellow racing folk distancing themselves , constant thought of what might have been , dwindled owners and horses , mental toll ,watching ex horses do well , steady build up of hate and animosity towards those who leaked pic and deserted him , and more

he will never again see the heights he was racing towards only a few days ago if indeed he even comes back , tbh the pic will look same no matter what the pennance is , for eternity

those calling for a further 40 lashes need to bear this in mind

Just a reminder that cricket banned three Pakistanis for ten years and five years, simply because one of them bowled a no ball.

6 months and 6 months suspended in line with my expectations - his words afterwards and confirmation that he won't be appealing for me are genuine and like he said he'll come back a better person, in the meantime I hope measures are in place to support his staff.  Detractors of the man himself and racing in general unfortunately have ammunition for the foreseeable future however it's time for us to move on and increase our vigilance whether in stables, racing yards or racecourses to ensure the horses are ALWAYS put first. I look forward to seeing G Elliott on racecards again.

No money changed hands. The no ball was just a demonstration that they would do it to order in the future.

they got nothing out of it.

my recollection was they were offered bribes & a newspaper got them accepting some cash, whether they could be proven to have taken any money wasn't the issue, the idea was a bookmaker knew what was going to happen was what i remember?

Did the bowlers not "play" according to betting patterns staked by unscrupulous entities overseas?

So he can stop @ home @ the yard for 6 months horses can run in someone elses name than his and everything else carries on as normal??

Suspension of licence does that stop him training the horses @ his stables?? of course not.

No bookmaker was involved withe Pakistanis, elise. Even the News of the World wouldn't go that far.

It was just a dry run to prove that they could bowl a no ball to order.

And for that, the Pakistani captain and one of their greatest fast bowlers were chucked out of the sport for good. And neither of them even bowled the no ball!
