what byrony faces is resistance to change
she is young , diff generation and the old school just cant get it or refuse to she obv wont wear the the bullying or toe any lines , very brave of her to stand against the crowd speak her mind while also remaining highly positive i applaude her , whats the old saying about good men doing nothing ? |
|
By:
as it happened 4/5 months ago and we,re only just hearing about it she obviously isnt speaking out, she,s burried it,4/5 months ago was when it was talked about on here lack of riders winners etc,now she,s won kg everyones darling again
expect as mentioned weve had a drink, shook hands all forgotten ,nothing to see jog on |

i doubt it was just Dunne , to me this reads more like after that race they all blamed her for the carnage and had a word about her riding. Paddy Brennan , fell same fence , might've been involved as the senior spokesman i'd say.

Just because something has happened for years doesn't make it right.
All this "What goes on in the weighing room, stays in the weighing room" nonsense is part of the problem. If something is wrong, it's wrong. People need to apologise, mean it, and learn from it. Then you move on. If you need an investigation to make this take place, then so be it. Whether it's Bryony or anyone else doing it, bad behaviour needs called out. Otherwise it becomes ingrained. For what it's worth, in my opinion, she does more to promote the sport than perhaps the top 5 to 10 NH jocks. The sport should be pleased with the extra coverage. Positive racing coverage, as opposed to failed French drug tests, is surely a good thing. |

Over 90%, Workrider!
I bow to your superior grasp of statistics. ![]() |

it's all hearsay.
People want to just wait to the full facts emerge. |

Certainly over here Loper , we don't have the wealth ye have over there and have to send our young out to work , unlike your good self who can just swan around doing nothing ...

When I was racing every day I used to watch from between the last 2 obstacles so was privy to much of what was being said by jockeys in the heat of the action.
Most of it was informative to the other jockeys regarding line and pace. A couple stand out. One, at Newbury, was a jockey screaming from well behind at another rider who was a distant 3rd approaching the last fence and was easing his mount, informing him that he'd better start riding again if he didn't want to get a ban as he was closing him down rapidly. The other was at Worcester. Jockey A had pulled up on the first circuit early in the straight and was still walking his horse back when the field went past 2nd time round to the finish. Jockey B had pulled up on the 2nd circuit and rode over to Jockey A whacked him across the back with his whip and screamed, 'I hate you, I hate you, I hate you', followed by certain expletives and a threat to Jockey A's long term health. The vitriol took me by surprise and the intensity of it left a lasting memory. |

Loper. |

Loper did jockey A say anything back?
|
|
By:
Cloone he said there's that ****g Loper hanging around the second last fence again...
![]() |
|
By:
Cloone,
I think he was so shocked and genuinely scared that he daren't utter a word. And he was one of the most loquacious members of the weighing room at the time! The perpetrator has always appeared to be on the edge mentally. |
|
By:
why would a jockey tell another to carry on riding
when there's 3rd place prize money up for grabs? Sure he wants to give up his own percentage. |
|
By:
Was he champion jockey any year?
|
|
By:
Because they are mates and the consequences for the other jockey would have been pretty disastrous.
|
|
By:
No Cloone, but I fully understand why you might think that!
|
|
By:
yep
piggott said he only stole other jockey,s whips in a finish to stop them getting a whip ban ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
I remember Paul Cranberry getting caught out one evening in kilbeggan were he was on the brideal to the winning line and he got caught out.He didnt hear the other horse behind him.He got a ban.To this day he blames the jockey on the winner for not shouting at him to let him know he was they.

Was he Irish Loper?

Possibly.

Last question Loper did he win the grand national?
|
|
By:
Not that I'm aware of.
|

By:
It was a jump jockey from co Clare that I was thinking of.
|
|
By:
He's from the West of Ireland, but not Clare.
|
|
By:
I'm not sure you can tell the media, the BHA or your Dad to tell the other jockey's to treat you with respect, I think that is earned. This Dunne thing seems like a smokescreen to me.
|
|
By:
i think byrony has more than earned respect
won top races most of her weighing room collegues never have , great job at the top stable , only 25 aswell |
|
By:
Agree , and respect is neither here nor there , but undeserved abuse is a nono these days between sexes , whether you like it or not .
|
|
By:
Who said she hadn't earned respect or was abused? All I am saying is if, as it appears or sounds like, some people don't respect her they cannot be told to.

Exactly brigust.
As for Bryony I rated her very highly but being one of those sad, middle-aged old creeps that this forum abhors I'm sure you will all find that understandable! I don't now though, little cry-baby that she is. And I fully agree with McCoy's comment about her winning ride in the KG. Not one of the opposition horses, favs. or otherwise, ran their race that day ( or any sort of a race ) and she had the race made so much more easy to win in that sense. Any of about twenty jockeys could have given the horse the same ride and that for me was the gist of McCoy's comment. She's a grass. Good luck to her - she'll need it. |

|
By:
We don't know what she faces. She hasn't said yet. Don't always take the side of the accuser imo
They might be full of it. |
|
By:
"She's a grass".......very mature comment.
If it weren't for grass's we'd have murderers and rapists (well more anyway) walking the streets. It's called telling the truth. If she feels badly done by, she should call it out. I suspect being a woman in a largely man's world is not easy at all. She's probably put up with loads of stuff over the years. |
|
By:
hello - to use your own phrase, for what it's worth, people today are all very much like you - calling alleged something, something, instead. of alleged something. And doing it so often that it eventually becomes accepted as the facts before it has even been investigated. The old phrase still holds good - if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. As for the allegation of "abuse" this whole situation would appear to have occurred because she "abused" her position as a jockey during a race, "allegedly" causing a horse in close proximity to fall and then suffer death. So which alleged abuse are you, and everyone else, most concerned with?
She's making a rod for her own back here and in my opinion she shouldn't be. What does she want to be? A jockey or a modern day suffragette/revolutionary. |
|
By:
Here's another innuendo word - "suspect" - without the slightest piece of evidence.

@LoyalHoncho -- Any of about twenty jockeys could have given the horse the same ride and that for me was the gist of McCoy's comment.
Expressed like that, it is a truism. If I did exactly what Marcus Rashford did I'd have 50 Premier League goals and a food campaign. If any of the other jockeys had been on Wichita Lineman at Cheltenham and given him the same ride AP did, they'd have won. All jockeys aren't the same. Frodon was a 20/1 rag. Nicholls was not doing Bryony any favours because he'd put the chaps on the 85/40 and 5/2 shots. |
|
By:
Fair enough Ramruna. I value your opinion. Frodon however continually jumped out to his left/veered out to his left to get across the fences, and never once hampered another horse. That's how easily, in my view, he was allowed to win by the opposition.
|
|
By:
The other factor we might be missing on the bullying front is that she is a woman and therefore more vulnerable. It is a power thing. A woman I know was terrified when a security guard at a supermarket drew his finger across his throat. Men would shake it off (or lamp him). Even "don't do that again" in the right (or wrong) tone of voice can sound like a credible threat from a man to a woman whereas between two men means almost nothing.

Wouldn't like to criticise any NH Jockey..who would ride half a ton of living meat at 30 miles an hour over a fence....brave as they come...
Bryony is no wallflower, hard as nails. But this is clearly media driven, had her head turned by success and playing up to the woke brigade. Her interviews are now so contrived you worry that Ed Chamberlain has said " let me introduce you to my media training PR coach" |
