Did Betfair not have a chance when the contracts for video service/streaming rights were up....yet stood back instead of investing and letting
atr/sky be their master?

Maybe if Betfair had a bit of balls and ploughed the money in first they cdve been their own masters

I dont know that for certain btw but always thought that was the case and they had the chance

what can betfair do apart from ask them to fix it ?

-------------------------------------------------------

rip up the contract and don't offer ATR tracks to bet on...

everyone has the option to put it on normal and watch a smooth pic, remember its a free channel within packages and completely free thru betfair.

if anyone thinks ATR will just let a major player like Betfair walk away without blinking an eyelid then they must be mad...

of course they wouldn't.

Offer an in running service and provide pictures 3 seconds+ behind on normal, not great business is it

I'm with hibby, wd tell them to fk off, im sure they would change their tune soon enough

nout to lose, it is pointless the way it is now anyway

Just a quick point, what was it they used at sedgfield the other week when it was smooth for everyone and a slightly different format?

Why not use that all the time?  Why are betfair not demanding they do as they did then?

plenty said as much when sky took over, things like "no way sky will leave it 7-8 seconds behind" its sky, they could issue it a new server and have it at RTV speed but they don't

that will be of no use to the thousands that don't bet in running hibby
By:

what we see as a big business error is practically obsolete to a company like sky

ATR are SIS tracks

SIS is owned by Ladbrokes 23%, Caledonia Investments 22.5%, Alternateport Limited 20.5%, William Hill Organisation 19.5%, Fred Done (co-owner of Betfred bookmakers) 7.5% and The Tote 6%.

there is not many there that would cry if betfair stopped streaming ATR tracks , maybe these 2 Caledonia Investments 22.5%, Alternateport Limited 20.5% , i have no idea who they are though

By:

hibby u over estimate our importance, only thing pablo may have wrong is not saying tens of thousands, 99% of punters wouldn't know what laying a horse evn meant!!

absolutely no idea pablo...

probably not as many as people think tho...

but that 'thousands' thingy is complete poppyc0ck imv.
By:

When: 16 Oct 20 16:11
most punters probably dont know what laying is but you would think they punters wdnt be using betfair either, probably use lads/hills/365/ etc

most using betfair lv will know about in running and laying

my god i've heard it all now...

are these tens of thousands on holidat just now...?

matched amounts are at pathetic levels...

and i'm told tens of thousands are betting...

It would be interesting to hear whether bf condone IR betting or just see it as an inconvienience and have to offer it as a natural end from Pr-off bets.
Because their stance suggests so, but collecting 40-60% of PC of IR bets must be a little moreish for corporation betfair do you not think?

but that 'thousands' thingy is complete poppyc0ck imv

can you explain ?

i think we may have wires crossed .

i am saying thousands , even 10s of thousands will bet pre race on sportsbook or exchange and not bet in running . far more bet pre race compared to in running

as an example, there was 100k matched in running at the last race at redcar . that's £50,000

that's 5000 people betting £10 each in running , or 500 betting £100 a race

Crazy

fakenham ok here, first race that has been all day
By:

type betfair into a search engine likely first link will be the sportsbook, 20 years in they still have a 2 bit actor trying to explain how the exchange works in a abc i an very dumb format
By:

no wires crossed pablo...

thousands / tens of thousands betting on here (non in-running punters) just doesn't wash with me i'm afraid...

i have no proof..

i just don't see it i'm afraid.

i know in-running is small-fry compared to the overall betting picture...

and i know another thing...

it is on the verge of collapse thanx to pathetic pictures from suppliers making it not worth peoples while to waste their time anymore...

which will lead to it's death sooner rather than later...

which is probably the aim of some and always has been.

why kill off IR HH?

isn't that just leaving money on the table?
By:
pablo-fanque
When: 16 Oct 20 16:29
betfair have over 4 million registered users , over 1 million active users . if only 2% bet on horse racing that's 20,000 people

hibby , either way , we all agree that ATR are vile and no good for betfair or us . but it seems we and betfair can't do anything about it .

thank goodness RUK got the irish and are at least trying to improve things

good luck today

aye no probs pablo...

just can't see this 'tens of thousands' thing at all tbh....

last time i walked in to a bookie (to use the loo) it was one man and his dog stuff...

to think they have all left the high street and are now using Betfair is something i cannot comprehend tbh...

but like i say i have no proof so no point arguing about it.

what's your Q...??
By:

When: 16 Oct 20 16:36
Sedgfield (think was sedgfield, maybe hexam) the other week, perfect on lv all day, we all thought it was fixed, different format etc

never to be seen that format that worked, since

it's there for them if they wanted to fix
By:
dustybin
When: 16 Oct 20 16:36
IR has historically amounted to around 20% of total matched bets, its hardly inconsequential.
Taking 40-60% of that money every week while defering responsibility for the disparity in picture just seems a touch duplicitous.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 16 Oct 20 16:37
pablo...

you must agree alot of pre-race activity is down to BOTFAIR...???

anytime i look at a market at say 11am there is hardly anything matched and liquidity is utterly shocking...

i just don't get the 'tens of thousands' thingy at all...

but i'll leave it there.

You suggest that BF is trying to kill of IR correct?

Why would any business kill off an income stream?

Hibby, I'm only guessing here but how many punters use LV for IR. At a guess I would say 5% or less. Would you say it's more just as a matter of interest? (I may be wide of the mark I may add because I for one cannot bet IR using LV?)
