I have four qualifiers, Aspire Tower, Wolf Prince, Majority Share and Morph.

On Flat ratings, Aspire Tower and Wolf Prince would appear to hold the stronger chances if transferring their ability to this code.

Aspire Tower is currently rated 86 on the level, and signed off for Steve Gollings with a good third over 12f at Ascot's Shergar Cup meeting behind Sapa Inca, who subsequently went onto Listed success and is now rated 11lb higher. He makes his debut here for Henry De Bromhead, and if fit and ready to go he should hold sound claims as stamina and soft ground are unlikely to be an issue.

Wolf Prince, who is currently rated 77, has returned from a 10 month absence this year to run two good races in defeat from three efforts for Amy Murphy, and has now joined Gavin Cromwell. Soft ground and stamina are unlikely to be an issue, and he looks an interesting recruit for his respected stable, with Conor McNamara taking 7lb off. However, he has been weak in the betting and his new stable also run the seemingly more fancied Yafordadoe, who makes his hurdling debut on the back of two 7f wins and is now rated 78 on the level.

Majority Share ran well from the front in a maiden race at Clonmel back in April, and although she just failed to hang on for a place, the time was the quickest of six races at the trip on the day, and the winner Encapsulation subsequently went onto Listed success. I suppose therefore it's disappointing she's been well held in three handicaps since off relatively low marks (though might have needed her latest run at Dundalk after a few weeks break).

Her hurdling debut at Gowran over 7 weeks ago came in a race that might not have been the strongest because even though she finished second in a field of sixteen starters, she was beaten 33 lengths and was left second only after an unseat at the second last. However, while it's easy pick holes in the form as the easy winner Leahman has been beaten twice since (though ran respectably under a penalty on his latest start),  it could be he needs good ground to be seen to best effect which he hasn't had since.

Majority Share looks up against it on Flat ratings and could do with hurdling better, but easier ground may help this daughter of Born To Sea, and it wouldn't totally surprise if she outruns her odds.

I thought Morph ran well from a wide draw when just failing to prevail in a field of 18 over 8.5f at Cork early last month, given he didn't have the kindest of trips and the distance looked a little on the sharp side. He has since finished 4th of 16 over 12.5f on soft/heavy at Galway, but those two runs were off marks of only 47 and 51, so would appear to have a big task today if Flat ratings are any guide.

He does appear to have the size to go jumping, and comes here fit and in form off the Flat, but given he's trained by Tony Martin, perhaps he'll be more one for handicaps further down the line, though that said, he was an unconsidered 50-1 shot when finishing runner-up at Cork, so who knows?

Instant Return is currently vying for favouritism after two respectable runs in 3YO hurdles, though it remains to be seen whether she can confirm last time out form with Gealach, who was just behind her at Fairyhouse when he was making his hurdling debut.

Sea Ducor won a 23-runner 14f Navan handicap (yld-soft) on his latest start, which has seen his Flat mark raised 9lb to 70, and he has been well backed this morning.
Weather Alert is also rated 70 after 4 runs in maidens.

Summary
In accordance with the thread policy, the prices dictate the selections and both Morph and Majority Share get speculative votes.

Edward O'Grady was the other trainer with a bit of an angle from those among the big prices but his runner was un fancied on debut and completely stuffed so could not really be backed with stolen at this stage!

Had a big weakness for Tony Martin's runner on the trainer MO front but we know it's the horse that's always the main thing to focus on.

Thanks for the analysis, she's certainly helping the prices of everything else in the race.

We've seen and noted earlier Mick has had a few hefty prices hit the frame from a pretty small sample in these juvenile events GEORGE, fancying them pre race is another matter though.

Obviously his main one is pretty well found today.

Robeam, 1pt win @ 4-1, 11.45 Newcastle

This is straightforward for me in terms of a selection as I've only got the one qualifier and it's Robeam.

He looks massively up against it on Flat ratings given he's much the lowest rated (56) of the quintet today and he has a 5lb penalty to contend with on what is likely to be demanding ground.
He ran out an easy and well backed winner on his hurdles and stable debut for Brian Ellison at Sedgefield, but the form doesn't look up to much given the second and third have been well beaten since, though the 6th horse, George Hastings, did come out this week and place at 200-1 in the Wetherby juvenile hurdle, to give the form a small boost.

Robeam gave me the impression he was gawky / inmature when racing for Richard Fahey, so it could be there is improvement in him and perhaps hurdles will make a man of him. He seems versatile ground wise, though probably hasn't raced on anything as bad he's likely to encounter today.

Navajo Pass is rated 85 on the Flat, and won unchallenged on his hurdling debut in a 3 runner race at Bangor on heavy ground, beating a 78-rated Flat horse. He too has a 5lb penalty to contend with.

Grazeon Roy is now rated 85 on the Flat after a couple of 12f wins on the Fibresand round Southwell. His last turf run over 10f at Doncaster showed heavy ground holds no fears for him given he pulled well clear with a filly who was completing a hat-trick following a stable switch, and who has subsequently won again.

Tavus won three times from nine starts for Roger Charlton, including on his last start for his former trainer over 12f on heavy ground at Leicester, and is now rated 78 on the level. He makes his debut for Jedd O'Keefe following a 105,000 gns sale.

Art Of Diplomacy won on his handicap debut over 12f on soft ground at Hamilton in class 5 company before being outclassed in a valuable York handicap (when 7lb out of the handicap and finishing 5l behind Navajo Pass). Paddy Brennan, who rode this one's stablemate George Ridsdale to a juvenile hurdle victory at Musselburgh, takes the ride.

Summary, Robeam would appear to be up against it on Flat ratings, but he took to hurdling well on his NH debut at Sedgefield, and it could be there is more to come from him as he matures.

I have four qualifiers, A Wave Of The Sea, Cerberus, Hammersmith and Guinevere

The market and ratings have it between the stablemates A Wave Of The Sea and Cerberus, who were separated by just a neck at Punchestown in October, and now the latter now has a 4lb pull. They have both been impressive winners since, A Wave Of The Sea under a 6lb penalty at Down Royal, and Cerberus a wide margin winner over today's C/D.
I don't know if both horses have been for sale, but A Wave Of The Sea is the one which has since been acquired by JP McManus.

Guinevere is up against it given she was beaten 20 lengths by Cerberus over C/D last time and now meets him again on the same terms, but even that form may give her a minor frame chance, particularly if finding further improvement as she did from her first to second runs over hurdles.

I noted Hammersmith at the Curragh in June over 6f in a 3YO+ 0-90 handicap, when it was possible he was at a disadvantage for two reasons, racing on the far side and perhaps having chased too strong a pace. I must admit, I wasn't exactly thinking he was a candidate for juvenile hurdles at that point given he's by No Nay Never and had yet to even run beyond 7f, but when he reappeared over 3 months later, he was stepped up to a mile in a 0-80 handicap on soft/heavy at the Curragh and just failed to get up for second place.

He still has to prove his stamina, and his lack of experience could find him out given he's being thrown in at the deep end here on his hurdles debut, but a peak official rating of 81 on the Flat, and form such as fourth off a mark of 79, beaten just over a length behind a subsequent Listed winner at the Curragh in June, proves he's not short of ability, if showing an affinity for this completely different test.
