i did question if in a race of that magnitude they had a eye on another future race it was a strange ride, but ryan has been terrible this season tactics have been strange

I do not think Japan fancied heavy going (neither Sottsass) as much as Waldgeist otherwise he'd have been the winner - Waldgeist came from further back than Japan. The ground certainly was a major factor in the defeat of Enable; the draw too; Dettori could have held onto Enable a wee bit longer given the manner Enable just lasted home last year with the benefit of hindsight. And, if Waldgeist had not been running Enable would have been lauded the best Arc winner since Dancing Brave, and surpass Sea The Stars (perhaps).

Japan is presently fav for the Champion Stakes, but will he meet Sottsass again? Very interesting if so - the battle for the best 3yr old.

You don't always get the ground your horse prefers ...on that ground the other day (whether it was soft / heavy is irrelevant)
The best horse won on Sunday .. it doesn't detract what Enable has achieved in terms of Gp1 wins and the esteem of the races won
We want the best horses to run more frequently than they often do so the even great ones can be beaten on a given day if they run often enough ... I hope she runs in the Breeders Cup and wins ... lets see

Dettori shouldn't feel too bad about it, even Piggott lost an Ark through a poor ride.

He was a cert on Nijinsky but still managed to get it beat.

These top jockeys aren't the legends they're made out to be.

I think some people are being far to hard on Frankie he knows Enable like the back of his hand...The ride looked good to me and i certainly would not be complaining if I had backed it.

You can talk,...you 'laid' Enable!

Dettori (with hindsight) ought to have held on to Enable a wee-bit longer given last year. Maybe he ought not to have rushed Enable to take up a decent position so early in the race from a disadvantaged draw too. No doubt if Dettori could ride the race again he'd do one or two things differently.

Water on the track cost Enable (Gosden/Dettori) the race similarly, Golden Horn (Gosden/Dettori)in the Breeders Cup. No worries, it's only horse racing...there's always next year.

Don't know why people are criticising Frankie, rode virtually the same race as when successful previous 2 years, the 3rd/4th horses didn't close on him until Frankie eased off when Waldgeist went past, btn by a better horse on the day. Why do people always look for someone to blame?

The pace certainly caught Dettori out.

If a lesser jockey had given a fancied horse a ride like that knowing how he tied up last year, he'd find he wouldn't be riding many fancied horses again for a long time.

Sorry i strongly disagree. So do the backers in play 1.06. The horse just ran empty last 100 metres.

Acey called it right. He said the ground was a huge negative and I think he was right.

On good ground the result would have been different.

dettori never had a plan b, he didnt adjust to the fact aiden o'brien ran magical as a pace maker, could of been one those great arcs with a close finish,
hes a great jockey, so wouldnt really place blame on the way he rode enable, yes he rode the horse the same way in 2018, this was a different race tactically

The riding of Dettori did not lose Enable an Arc - it did not win it either; the heavy going and draw certainly did not help. However, I think a different tactic employed by Dettori would have enabled Enable lasting out the trip better on heavy ground using her 2018 run as a guide (perhaps).
