hopefully i am going to get back to winning ways today. i would have liked to have layed lets sway in the opener at bath at odds of around 2.7. i should imagine the going there will be like running on a road and i don't think that will suit the fav. the opposition is so poor though that i couldn't be very confident that something would beat it.
but i am very confident about the 4.30 hexham. i hav taken on the jam man, not for very much so far as liquidity on the race is not so good at the moment. but i have layed for small amounts between 2.8 and 3.1 and hope to lay more as the day goes on. he is up another 6lb since finishing 3rd at perth but i really think he needs further than this and i do think kick on dottie and second time around have better form. having said that i have actually had a bet on the outsider here, louloumills who is out of the weights but showed signs of a return to form lto. best of luck to anyone having a bet today. |

Good afternoon Lampus et all,
I've got a few things to do, so the lay will be posted this afternoon. In the meantime i've layed France HT/FT, albeit only small @ 1.9 as an interest if i get to watch some of it. ![]() angeleyz, Good luck later, i didn't look at the NH cards. |

The daily thread is on a roll at the moment, but overall let down a tad by the Saturday and Sunday selections, so hopefully i can buck this trend today.
Another good day yesterday with both my short list selections mentioned finihsing unplaced, although only one counted for the thread of course. I also gave a tentative win selection in the lay race, Bartholomeu Dias (11/2) that looked the likely winner in the final 100 yards, but decided to bite the horse alongside him, Dr Richard Kimble, consequently throwing the race away by turning his head. The biting is actually referred to in the RP and SL form commnent of the race. I've seen this in greyhound racing several times, but not in the equine equivalent, so maybe muzzles will be introduced in future ![]() Only 9 meetings today so it was difficult to find a suitable race, although i didn't consider Dortmund . I finally decided on a maiden race in Emerald Isle for the lay today.5.10 Limerick liex Excelsa A 3 year old, lightly raced, Excelebration filly trained by James 'Fozzy' Stack. Only had 4 races, once as a 2 year old where she finished last of 10 in a good filles maiden at The Curragh. Her first run this season was a winning one in an average colts and filles maiden at Cork, but she was subsequently disqualified (illegal substance). She was raised in class next time, running in a Group 3 1000 guineas trial at Leopardstown, finishing 6th of 13, beaten 4.75L by Who's Steph. Her run LTO was also in a Group 3 filles and mares race where she finished last of 6, beaten 8L by Lightening Quick. All her 4 runs have been over 7f, generally on good/yielding or heavy going, the exception being her debut on good to firm. Todays race is over 8f, although the trip shouldn't really be an issue, but the good to firm going at Limerick may be, as is the course, as she's generally raced on galloping tracks. Trainer is out of form. A low draw is a positive at Limerick and she drawn 7. Although she has group form on her CV, it's not as though she was placed in these races. They were clearly a step too far, she was simply outclassed and never looked like taking a hand in the finish. She's meeting some promising colts today from quality stables, who have any amount of improvement, and a newcomer trained by Joseph O'Brien. 11 runners, but only 5 can be seriously considered, the other 6 are racing for the future, assuming they have one, and could be coming home at considerable distance from the leaders. The one i like is Fridtjof Nansen (named after a Norwegian Exploer) who ran well in 4th on her only start last year, but any of the other could win. The lay is currently vying for favourtism, and rightly so based on her CV, but in my opinon her rating of 92 is too flattering. Having said that, i'm hopeful as opposed to confident, and my comments above are reasons for the lay today. Good luck. Yes i vaguely remember now, i really couldn't think of one last night. I had an ex g/f that was a biter in younger days, but completely the wrong thread, and she would have been hopeless around Ascot anyway ![]() ![]() |

Lampus,
I doubt i have the necessary free time to create a new thread to be honest as i'm quite busy. What i can do is mention one or two early morning on the daily thread, but without a long write up, it's this part that actually takes the time. I already have the 2 lay threads on-going and some may think i wanted to take over the forum if i started another I do have several backs in mind for RA anyway, specially if the ground is firm, so maybe i can use them, with a lay in the same race, this would save me posting twice. In the meantime, I think Panko has a very good chance in the 8.40 Leicester. Impressive LTO, won very easily, and it appears he enjoys life after the move to Alex Hales stable. He could even be a few lbs ahead of the handicapper. All his wins were on good/firm going, as today. Around 2.6 on here. Not a good thing by any means, but in my opinion, the winner. I think Croatia will beat Nigeria in the football, but that's not a difficult selection to make. |
