Like someone's just said on ATR, why was Millie's Kiss declared a non runner? Obviously nothing wrong with it
![]() |
By:
were both horses taken to the course? if so then it wouldnt have shown up and if not scanned again, looks like its purely down to the trainer then.
By:
all winners dope tested and scanned.

no announcement at yarmouth yet.

The whole episode should end with licences being torn up. Mistakes like this just don't happen. It is an absolute disgrace that the punters carry the burden of this type of nonsense. Racing has reached another low. I doubt anything would surprise me anymore.

The bookmakers at Yarmouth are saying they have already paid out

Another reason to add to the list of why British flat racing is a joke

NOT ALL winners are dope tested

Tony McGlone stipendiary steward at Yarmouth, said: “I've not come across this before. As with all horses they were taken across to the stables and scanned and then were allocated a box each.
"Mr [Charlie] McBride was over at the weighing room and was slightly delayed and the stable girl had taken the horse out of the stables and into the saddling boxes. As he was in a rush, he put the saddle on, the horse ran and won.” “We then sent the horse for routine testing as normal and the veterinary officer scanned the horse and found it to be the incorrect horse. We've inquired into the matter and it's possibly a genuine mistake. “We've referred it to the BHA for further consideration. I think they've got 14 days to lodge an appeal to the winner. The system does work but like all things it's not fail safe. Asked whether the horse will be disqualified, McGlone said: "I'd imagine so but I can't say that categorically." |

It least it is good to know that if you plan to run a ringer and it wins, connections will get paid out.
Wonder what the bookmakers would have been saying if the winner was backed from 10/1 to Even money and won ?? |
By:
The system does work but like all things it's not fail safe.
i think everyone would say it doesnt and if it is reliant on a stable girl picking the right horse and a trainer who cant spot the difference, even though he saddled it, i for one would suggest it isnt an isolated incident. |
By:
has mcbride had the nerve to appear on atr
By:
not yet.
By:
Mr Ivory, i can see how it happens and an easy mistake to make if busy, wont happen again though, system is pretty fail safe.
bit of a contradiction imho |

Billys paying out on 2nd

By:
mcglone says mcbride was in a hurry before race so what happened in the winners enclosure..too busy counting the dosh perhaps

In the US all runners are scanned as they enter the parade ring. What is the point of scanning them before then?
If they were scanned as they enter the paddock then this could never happen! I really worry about the IQ levels of those that police our sport. |

bha statement worthless. punters potentially affected,

did you expect anything else from the useless quango

How was it not picked up in the unsaddling enclosure or did they choose to keep quiet.

mcBride stable lad backed the fav.

By:
Just been paid out on treble by Corals they have voided the winner.
By:
If what that bookie said about the stable lad backing a runner other than his own he should be barred for life!
By:
It would be relatively easy to scan the placed horses in the unsaddling area before the weigh in is announced. If it was my decision, that is what would happen in future but under the current rules, they can't change the result after the weigh in and it is up to bookmakers to decide how to proceed.
By:
why is that rograin? what is wrong with him backing another horse
By:
and also they never sayed the lad ..
By:
This " weighed in " business on this occasion is a misnomer, can you weigh in really if the horse never actually weighed out in the first place.
By:
jockeys weigh in and out.
