chalkie, it's just a code you have to type at the end of your password , betfair/google send you a new code every minute so it's pretty hard to hack an account even if you know someones username and password .

good luck , hope it gets sorted for you

good point casemoney about sportsbook, thought it was a simple pass off fraud. Frankly I am surprised BF IT dept weren't alerted by all the different IP addresses in such a short time.

Looks like i am in the hands of Betfair IT security then lol
Even if the bet had won how would they get the money out to a new bank account etc without registering it and by which time i would have seen the wrong doing and it would have been stopped. If they had done something on the Exchange then it would have been hard to prove any wrong doings if an accomplice had matched the bet and dragged the money

I'm not too savvy, but do my bets on my IPad and those on my PC at home, have the same IP address?
By:

My bet would be the bet was legit albeit not by chalkie.

Someone will have logged into your account by mistake(maybe very similar login details) or maybe a glitch from Betfair's end somewhere where they've logged someone into your account instead of their own
It wouldn't be the first time its happened

I Just being facetious Gory to make light of a desperate and ugly situation
The only time i will be laughing a bit realistically will be if Spencer gets beat on Spinniker in the 4.10 cause i won't be able to get on what i want. Coup De Vent in the 4.40 Ling would have been my EW bet today as been waiting for it to run so that won't make me too happy if it goes in either.........................................LOL

@RothmanMike -- I'm not too savvy, but do my bets on my IPad and those on my PC at home, have the same IP address?

The short answer is to google "my ip" and it will tell you what ip address you are using

The long answer is yes or no, or perhaps. If your pc and ipad at home share the same wifi link, then probably yes. If you mean when your ipad is hundreds of miles away and connected by your mobile service provider or public wifi, then no.

Once you have GA running, you can get a one-off code texted to your mobile if you need it (I suppose if GA crashed or you broke your phone and had a non-smartphone temporary one)

it is far more likely that his account details were compromised than another user has such similar details as to allow accidental login.  Obviously if he has an easily guessable password both scenarios become more likely.

He should be checking his devices for malware.

Have you been using free Wifi?
I think its possible to 'sniff' out passwords on mobile devices when accessing free wifi if somebody in the vacinity has the knowhow.
I never use free wifi, its as good as a trap and a false economy, you cant possibly know how safe it is.

Also, if anyone hasnt noticed, you shouldnt log into your account via this forum page either as its insecure, you should go via the main exchange page then refresh this one...I dont know why its not secure, it just is.

It isn't dustybin, the login box is secure I understand, but the rest of the page eg this post isn't secured on its way through the internet.

Hi Longbridge. Just use my mobile for calls and texts really. I am a Luddite! Do you have to keep wifi and data switched on to receive codes via the authenticator. ( it's an age thing!)

dave on my firefox page if you attempt to start inputting you info in the sign in part it warns you that its not safe.
It never used to, about two months ago the padlock changed on this page from a green one to one with a line through it.
