Very frustrating, but as usual with my bets it got backed in so saved myself a further £200 by the bet not being taken by the layers. They really have no rsole @ times.

Not many trainers would do what Johnston is doing with Ventura Knight in the 16:20 Leicester today. Mick Channon might, maybe Keith Dalgleish and a couple of others.
2 years old, 13lbs higher than the next highest rated, and the horse is being asked to carry the lot up the Leicester 7.5f finish, 6 days after its last run and against a few likely improvers. 2yo's backing up in a Nursery, under a penalty and rated well clear of the opposition, actually have a very good record, and the horse may well win today (although I won't be weighing it down any more with my money), but I would bet that this horse isn't winning races into its 3yo career. If I owned it and it was any good I wouldn't want my trainer doing this to it for £4.5k. |

Ham 16:10 - X Rated 9/2 BOG 0.5pt
Not sure why this LTO Mark Johnston winner is drifting (it was 9/4 last night, which probably was too short). Maybe it's the strength of money for Jedd O'Keefe's Desert Ruler. He's been absent for 66 days though and always seems well supported. The Irish raider (Fav) looks a bigger danger. X Rated came back to form dropped in class last time. Fanning rode a canny ride and I thought he was value for more than the winning distance. The Fav's form LTO (2nd over C&D) stands up well though, with the winner 3rd and 4th all winning NTO. He'll be a tough nut to crack but getting 9lb WFA and from the 1 draw, X Rated looks too big at 9/2. |

I've backed X rated @ 7-2 & see it is now 5-1. Also backed Star Of Lombardy 7.35 Epsom @ 11-4. Hoping both can make all.

Star a ground worry today?
Course form there always a massive plus but with soft in the description has to be a bit of a question mark. Thought Doublet ran very well at track on debut strong travelling, probably doing a tad too much if anything but again ground is ? |

Hammy group look to have the chances
Prices reflect that SDS could eke out a rough diamond with a horsebox filler Take me to the Tower Drop in hcap, class & up dist GL |

Ravenhoe has handled gs-gf and is in the window of opportunity after a much better run last time under amateur. around a mile in class 5's with no lto winners in the field around the 70 mark.
Should be a decent pace to run at, best form seems to have been a decent pace with a tough finish (done well with inclines), obviously track here is pretty unique and always a ? with it's downhill camber finish. Not sure current price is that eye catching tbh. The obvious looking ones are priced accordingly and don't grab me but could easily see a few winners today. xrated price does look ok and lto winners in these 3yo+ hcps do have a pretty decent follow up record at track. White Tower is the sort I've given chances to thus far this season for little return though at least he has won a race and tasted better company seeing a big class drop over a new distance (3yo's upped to this trip always worth a look). I always think the market should have these but many of the Sheikh's just don't seem to reflect their chance in the market either way. |

Another stinker. It would be nice if, once in a while a drifter that I backed went and won, to restore a bit of faith.
|
|
By:
Handicappers been a bit grim recently (certainly any that aren't tight in mkt), novices and mdns rolling on.
Will chance a half stakes punt on White Tower, class drop and new trip with a few runs in better grade, 3yo's can be dangerous to cross off upped in distance with this amount of racing. 8:10 Epsom White Tower (£5) 19.5 |

prestbury park 2.55 haydock turned out quickly after debut run at ascot , prominent in the betting ,faded quickly and well beat but with the expierience and a decent price today could come on a bundle as we saw with doublet yesterday ,will be having a go small win and bigger place ,good luck

GL Foyles
Rich And Famous still in the Stewards cup but very unlikely to get in off current rating. You'd think with the pedigree and the track evidence that this horse would be looking for longer distances this season, certainly the 5f races at Chester and York were not looking to suit imo. Only 7 runs and definitely stays this trip strongly has shown a real liking for fast ground so a shame it's not been so quick up at Hammy recently. There must be a plan here with all this said but is it today, I'm not so sure though I'd expect a much better effort than the last 2 runs, would need to win to get in at Goodwood. |
|
By:
The yard has done very well in the listed race on the same card but with unexposed progressive horses going up through the grades into the class for the first time you can't say this applies to either runner today, Frankuus gets the ft blinkers too.

I've not been playing the 2yo's Foyles but there are some interesting early trends in these novice contests.
Showing anything on debut, either early speed or late progress when green has as you say seen a lot of improvement 2nd run. sheikh 10-26 so far on turf with 2yo's, to this point in the season had more than twice the runners last season (25-94 in 2015), be interesting how the numbers pan out over remainder of season. |

Thinking on this one explained earlier and probably for another day, this sterner test should be getting more towards what's required now though and price tempted me in.
7:20 Hamilton Rich And Famous (£5) 24.0 |

no gear change, will defo give another go up in trip.
If no success with these will be the last until Glorious Goodwood... 7:35 Pontefract Poets Society (£20) 6.0 back into an easier race, didn't get a run up the rails last time and should be seeing this out well closing stages. 8:05 Pontefract Morning Suit (£15) 8.0 was impressed with the salisbury run always on the pace and I'm not sure ground helped too much that day keeping on in dogged fashion, last run not on the bunny and never really had any room up the rails but still a decent run, smallish field should be able to go very close round here tonight. 8:25 Hamilton Bonnie Arlene 3.75 (£30) fancy a more prominent ride tonight and just looks a placement that can yield some rewards here on last few effort this grade. |
|
By:
WTF has happened to the handicappers recently, synchronised rubbish!
|
|
By:
Hoping for better later; I've also backed Bonnie Arlene (last night).
I like Morning Suit, but wondered if it actually liked the ground at Sals; it certainly ran it's heart out at a strong pace throughout. Last time, like you wondered if it was short of room, but the winner came through the gap it could myabe have taken (no head on on ATR). Not backed. GL SE |

like you,
|
|
By:
Yes I agree with that about the gap I watched it's last couple of races back last night, I just didn't get the feel that it was ridden that positively lto from the previous effort, gut feeling is tonight will be a stronger effort.
![]() But gut feelings and benefit of the doubts not paying dividends at present At least the 2yo's are pinging ![]() |
