Red Caravel, 1pt win @ 9-1, 4.50 Nottingham
Red Caravel is giving me the impression he wants a stiffer test than he's been getting on the AW, and he's switched to turf here and moved up 2f in trip to 14f; they are electing to put first-time blinkers on too, so if they light him up, it could compromise his chance trying this distance for the first time. He's been dropped 2lb from his initial rating, and while the fitting of blinkers may suggest he's not the most straightforward, interesting to see if the switch to turf and move up in distance produce a better display. Fieldsman, 1pt win @ 11-1, 9.10 Ayr Fieldsman was having his second start for David O'Meara (having been bought out of George Scott's yard for 25,000 gns) when catching the eye on his latest start over a mile at Thirsk, seemingly going well but finding his path blocked from around 2f out; hard to say how he would have fared with a clear run, but he shaped as though he's in good form. He has fallen to a mark 3lb lower than he won off at Newmarket last May, and a 7lb claimer eases his burden further, while the drop back to 7f shouldn't be an issue as his three career wins have come at this trip. Sabador, 1pt win @ 5-2, 9.10 Ayr A saver is had on Sabador, who impressed when winning his maiden on the AW over a mile at Kempton, and he showed he is effective on turf too when finishing runner-up on his turf bow at Leicester over the same trip, doing well to finish second given the winner had the run of things from the front. He drops back to 7f here, but given how keen he's been in his races it may be no bad thing, particularly as there should be a good pace on here with Tavener and Jay K both likely to go forward from low draws. Sabador has been put up 6lb for that Leicester effort, which seems a tad harsh, but he looks open to further improvement having had just the three starts. |

Correction: Fieldsman 1pt win @ 14-1
I was looking on the RP site and I don't think the odds had been updated, but on oddschecker a couple of firms were 14s from around 10.15. |

Two of today's picks have drifted in the betting, but there seems good support for Fieldsman, who has halved in price. |

Going great guns George, enviable figures on the Month. Got three come up today, interested in two of em and have backed Dubai Art 7.50 kem, win and e.w so far. I note quite a from the yard and lots of em improve with racing. Noted this on debut, he didn't look the finished article when winning the maiden-still looked green- and the mark could be lenient. I'd have had more on from a kinder draw tho. GL today, off back to work.

Good with Dubai Art, saddo.
The only one in that race I've ever notebooked is Keyser Soze, on debut last season. He then got beat on his next start when sent off fav for a Newmarket maiden, before running OK in a couple of valuable sales races. He got off the mark in a Thirsk maiden on his reappearance (fwiw, second has won a maiden since and the 4th has since been placed at huge odds). His pedigree appeals for the AW, but he too is drawn wide, and this looks competitive enough, but will watch with interest. |

Archie's Advice, 1pt win @ 11-1, 3.30 Hamilton
Archie's Advice made a pleasing comeback on ground quicker than ideal when finishing a close up 4th at Ayr, and he shaped on his latest start over 8.5f at this track as though he was in form despite finishing last of the six runners, just finding the steady pace and quick ground against him but keeping on well having been held up. He could do with the forecast rain arriving, and there is a query about him at the 11f trip, while he doesn't always impress with his head carriage, but at a double figure price a chance is taken for the minimum stake. Jupiter Light, 1pt win @ 14-1, 3.50 Wolverhampton Jupiter Light showed a good attitude to get up late and deny an 85-rated odds-on shot in a maiden over 7f here in March, and while it's not difficult to pick holes in that form (small field, fav arguably should have won), his pedigree could suggest 7f would have been sharp enough for him, and the second has since run with credit in two handicaps considering he's not had things go his way on either occasion. Jupiter Light has since been well held in a couple of competitive one mile handicaps on turf, and while this is another competitive looking race, he's of a little interest at the price returned to this surface, with his mark having eased 4lb following those two turf runs. London Grammar, 1pt win @ 10-1, 4.40 Lingfield London Grammar was noted when keeping on well despite a wide trip over a mile at Lingfield in February, on what was her second start for her current yard, and she then did the thread a favour when winning over a mile at Kempton. She disappointed on her return to the same C/D on her latest start, but she remains of a little interest going beyond a mile for the first time, as she has given the impression it could eke out a little improvement. London Grammar is back on turf here, but her form on grass earned her an initial rating of 60 for her previous yard, 4lb above her current rating, so hopefully the change in surface won't be an issue. Areen Heart, 2pts win @ 9-2, 7.10 Chelmsford Areen Heart was arguably unlucky not to go closer over 7.5f on his latest start at Chester in a class 2 handicap, not getting the clearest runs before running on well and going on at the finish, suggesting as his dam's side of his pedigree would indicate that going a mile shouldn't be an issue; he did have the advantage of racing round the inner that day, but he travelled noticeably well and wasn't helped by being 2lb out of the handicap. He switches to Polytrack here, but being by Exceed And Excel would give encouragement for the surface, and after just four starts this unexposed sort who was an expensive breeze-up purchase as a 2YO, would appear to be open to further improvement. |

I've had a small e/w go on 3.50 Wolves QUINTEO who won on his a/w debut despite not looking bred for it, up in class +1f after winter break but 33-1 in places ...gl George

He looks an interesting one, Virgin, and it appeared he landed some nice bets that day. Good luck.
Another 'rag' I'll be keeping an eye on is Muirsheen Durkin. He looked a big unit as a 2yo, and although perhaps not a good sign that the Dascombe yard got rid, he wasn't cheap for his new connections at 33,000 gns. |

Thank you all, today's another day
![]() Nowt I really fancy today tbh, but I'm going to take a chance on one at a double figure price. Cosmic Chatter, 1pt win @ 12-1, 4.55 Cosmic Chatter caught my eye at Wolverhampton on his reappearance in March, keeping on well from an unpromising position without being given a hard time; the three runs on turf since haven't been as promising, though at least that has seen his mark fall to 2lb lower than the one he won off last October, and this looks a little less competitive than the races he's been running on. The suitability of this C/D for Cosmic Chatter is not known, but with Lucky Beggar, Stanghow and Seamster in the field, hopefully there will be competition for the lead and a pace to aim at. |
