fancy you going to go pretty close with earthly george.
that wolverhampton form with the lingfield oaks trial winner(hertford dancer) just in front looks pretty strong in the context of tomorrows race as well. good luck |

I did think about making it a 2 pointer, kiw, but opted just for a point with him having to concede 9lb to the Prescott horse, and there are others in there who need respecting; an interesting race for a 0 - 70!

make it a 2 pointer if it wins george

I will be very surprised if Earthly improves over this trip.

American bred, by Spring At Last, out of an Empire Maker mare; don't know much about the sire if I'm being honest, but what I do know, last season - Spring Jig, same Spring At Last / Empire Maker cross, won over 10f at Bath as a 2YO, and it took him the whole of the 10f to get going.
I've not gone back and watched it, but when this fella won his maiden over 10f at Lingfield, I seem to recall it wasn't until the final furlong that he got going. He seemed to have running left in him at the end of 10f at Salisbury, and frankly I'd be amazed if 12f round Lingfield was a problem for him and I do expect him to improve for the trip. He looks a big unit, so not sure this track is ideal, and a crawl and sprint may find him out, but 12f should be no problem on pedigree. |
|
By:
Hang on, Spring At Last was a Silver Deputy / Dynaformer cross, jeez I'm not surprised he's getting 2YOs who need all of 10 furlongs round Bath!

29 May 17 22:51 I will be very surprised if Earthly improves over this trip. So what are you basing this on, the fact he's got a USA suffix next to his name? |

Cornborough for my trainer
![]() well done today |
|
By:
Thanks dealer. I sometimes think a spell over the jumps makes them tougher, he definitely dug in there, albeit we might have got a bit lucky with the fav not getting a clear run.
|
|
By:
I do have 3 more selections to make, perhaps a bit on the speculative side, which I'll post in the morning when I've done me little write ups.
|
|
By:
he loves the dual purpose types. gutted ours is injured at present, really think he would have won a few for us over a trip this season.
best of luck with your selections |
|
By:
what's the prognosis dealer, are you hoping to have him back for the winter?
I'll be posting my other picks shortly as I can't guarantee I'll be up in the morning ![]() |
|
By:
he has a tendon injury, if all goes well maybe back for winter, his summer will be spent in a field. you just never know with these types of injury, although Mark has had a few that have made a perfect recovery from the same injury.
|
|
By:
Good luck dealer, hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.

Little Miss Lola, 1pt EW @ 40-1, 5.20 Leicester
I noted Little Miss Lola on her reappearance over 6f at Thirsk in a similar grade to today's when she didn't get the best of runs and definitely shaped better than the bare result. She's been eased 2lb following that run and she is eligible for weaker grades than this one, but that was a pleasing comeback and she's only had the five starts, so she gets a speculative vote at big odds. Seeing Things, 1pt win @ 12-1, 8.40 Wolverhanpton It's not best practice to be selecting horses that have halved in price, but there ya go . I'm not surprised this has been backed as he was a bit of an eyecatcher over the extended 9f here on his latest start, having been dropped in from a wide draw, just getting no luck whatsoever in the run when shaping like he had something to offer. He's drawn wide again here and back in trip a furlong, so he'll need the breaks if ridden the same way as last time and will probably be dependent on a pace to run at. He had been due to run at Bath a week or so ago when, if memory serves, Fran Berry was booked, but he rides something else here. Sailor Malan, 1pt EW @ 22-1, 9.10 Wolverhampton This is on the speculative side; the notebook run came on his sole AW outing to date, back in December 2015 at Lingfield in a weak maiden when trained by Gay Kelleway, when his chance was compromised having got into a barging match and lost his position, before being noted going on at the finish despite not doing himself any favours through hanging. He's five years old and has been sparingly raced, so presumably there have been issues, and he has since changed yards since he was last seen in June of last year. Saint Malan was initially rated 60 but has very quickly been dropped to a rating of 50, and new connections reach for a hood on his first start for them; he was declared twice last week but I think was taken out on account of the quick ground both times. |

Both of those 10f races where slowly run and in my opinion he was only plodding home , he looks paceless to me and pedigree suggests 12f will be too far. Bottom line to me he looks a slow beast on my speed figures, Adamant had to make its own running and that fellow needs plenty of driving and they all struggled to get by. Everyone has their own understanding of a horse staying on??? my opinion is that he was only plodding on and horses like that are best left alone.

Tbh, I'd prefer 12f round somewhere like Ponte on a sound surface, my concern is that this track will be too sharp for him in a competitive race and he's running on a surface different from what he was notebooked on, but at 7-1 I'm happy to take the chance.
Btw, you need to read my post again, I said at no point in the straight at Salisbury was he ever getting a clear run, I did not use the words "staying on" or say what my perception of that is. As for his pedigree, there's Dynaformer on one side, Empire Maker on the other, and while that may suggest he won't be doing anything quickly as your figures indicate, it probably does suggest he'll stay well. |
|
By:
Plod well is probably a better way to put it.

By:
Oh Oh, Dream Magic, plods home second??
|
|
By:
The good news is, easygold, we're on an exchange and you can lay it for some 'free' money. Good luck with your 1-3 bet!
It's competitive enough even without having to worry about the Prescott horse, with Glenys The Menace and Star Maker coming here on the back of decent handicap runs, plus some dark ones that might have been hiding their lights under a bushel! So I'd say you've plenty running for you! |

What's Dream Magic got to do with this thread

By:
I didn`t say Lay it, I gave my view before the off end of. All I said was I don`t think it will improve for the step up the way you and Holding think it will
|
|
By:
well that's my concern, whether this track is ideal cuz it took him a long time to get on top in what wasn't a great maiden.
I didn't know AH had tipped it, I'll have to go and read what he's written, hang on... |
|
By:
He's not taking any chances with the stake!

easygold since you give the impression you are never wrong( i know that isnt true from past experience} why dont you stick up your own thread, with prerace comments and selections.
look forward to the read |
