Was LV ok George? Couldn't get it working right here. Seen a few threads about it but only been playing up occasionaly here.

Wouldn't know saddo, I tend to just stick with RUK
|
|
By:
good call george, always liked excessable
|
|
By:
Cheers. I thought there was a lot to like about the Thirsk win. Dunno if a penalty will be enough to get him into the Dash as he was a fair way down the list.

I nearly had a saver on Olivia Fallow, but was put off thinking shirley the target will be Musselburgh.
|
|
By:

WD George.

Cheers saddo, unfortunately that was as good as it got.
Arthurthedelegator had his chance inside the final furlong, but perhaps being allowed to stride on might have suited better as it turned out rather than pulling in behind the leader. Presume there is a plan for Johnny Barnes, but probably on softer ground (times weren't too bad at Windsor tonight). The only excuse I can offer for Balgair is the ground as the times are suggesting it is deffo soft / heavy at Leicester tonight. What did you make of the times at Carlisle today George? IMO it was closer to GS than it was GF. Probably just about on the easy side of Good.

Looked like it PHS, "did a good job with the watering", as they like to say in the CoC'ing business

Golden Isles, 1pt EW @ 14-1, 4.50 Brighton
Golden Isles is a tentative EW selection on her first start for Heather Main, having left Stan Moore. She ran some fair races of slightly higher marks last season, including last July at Windsor when finishing 3rd over today's trip of a mile, when she left the impression she may be more effective at longer trips; that said, when she has tried longer trips she appears not to have stayed, but I just wonder if perhaps it was more to do possibly with her then stable not being in the best of form at the time. So kept to a mile, the trip is a slight concern. It's encouraging that her new stable had a winner at Newmarket last week with one returning from an absence, when Gerald Mosse was an eyecatching booking, and today former South African champion Gavin Lerena has been booked. |

Broad Appeal, 1pt win @ 9-1, 4.30 Nottingham
A slightly similar profile to Balgair who I selected last night, in that he's trained by Jonathan Portman, made a winning racecourse debut, shaped better than the bare result on his latest start, but is unproven on the ground. Nevertheless, a chance is taken for the minimum stake. I thought Broad Appeal definitely shaped better than his finsihing position suggested on his turf debut over a mile at Windsor, leading and racing a bit keenly, doing himself no favours by hanging left on the bend, but he was the only one to challenge the well handicapped Sir Plato with the pair clear at one point, and he was still in second place inside the final furlong, but his exertions told and he faded back to the 7th inside the last half-furlong. The ground is an unknown for him, so he can be only a tentative selection, but no surprise if he proves himself better than the Windsor result suggested in due course. |

Crap. Golden Isles was hammered in the betting, someone was liking the trainer change angle, but unfortunately she couldn't even hit the frame.

extrasolar declared to run at catterick on thursday george, plum draw in 1 but not sure that will be a advantage for him.

|
By:
Cheers kiw, already priced up on the RP site, they're keen! Tricky Dicky put in 7/2 fav on their forecast, but not sure he'd want it to get too quick?
As for Extrasolar, as Hyman Roth said in The Godfather, I've let it go, this is the business we've chosen ![]() |

Some minimum stake fodder for Wednesday, with fitness a potential issue for three of the selections.
Takbeer, 1pt win @ 16-1, 3.10 Lingfield Milrow, 1pt win @ 9-1, 3.10 Lingfield The ex-French trained Takbeer was upped markedly in trip to from 8.5f to 14f at Wolverhampton on his third start for his current trainer Nikki Evans, and it seemed he did well to finish second given how freely he raced, leading over four furlongs out and still a few lengths clear turning in, before being headed inside the final furlong and keeping on well for second to split two relatively unexposed 4YOs from the Varian and Simc0ck yards. It's a concern that he's been off for two months since and he's switched to turf today, but he was a winner in France on grass and the drop back to 12f may suit, so as he's lightly raced and unexposed at middle distances, he makes a little appeal at the price. Milrow left the impression more than once when trained by Martyn Meade that he was going to be suited by middle distances, and when he tried 12f for the first time at Lingfield (AW) when last seen on the Flat, he ran well to finish a close-up third. He has since won a couple of times over hurdles for his current trainer Richard Newland, and although fitness has to be taken on trust returning from seven months off, Milrow is another who is unexposed at middle distances on the Flat. Molly Jones, 1pt EW @ 22-1, 5.10 Lingfield Molly Jones caught the eye at Lingfield in January not getting the clearest of runs and shaping better than her finishing position suggested, and she was a more obvious eyecatcher on her latest start, when finishing off well over 5f at Chepstow to finish 4th. It's a long time since she last won and she could do with the ground drying out, while the draw could prove troublesome if the stands' rail proves the place to be, but as she appears to be in form, at decent odds a chance is taken EW. Forever Yours, 1pt win @ 20-1, 9.10 Kempton Forever Yours is another returning from a break and so this can be only a tentative selection, particularly as he's weak in the betting currently, and Robert Winston, who is often the first choice rider for the stable, looks elsewhere. The notebook run was his last run and handicap debut over 7f at Kempton, under today's jockey Jack Duern, when setting a good pace, going clear in the straight and still leading inside the final furlong, before weakening quickly to finish ninth. The drop back to 6f would seem the way to go based on that latest effort, and although he may be one for another day when the market signals are more positive, a chance is taken at the odds for the minimum stake. |

Molly Jones' run made for painful viewing, just not quite able to hang on for a place, and that was the difference between a winning and losing day. There's always tomorrow...
