notable failure to answer the question...
By:
when a person fails to answer a question and instead returns with abuse it is always because they cannot answer the question
By:
plenty have managed to arm themselves and stay and fight
does that answer the question |
By:
(or rather, they can answer the question, but they are forbidden from doing so by this showing them to havew been wrong, which, as we all know is a fate worse than death)

By:
nope not remotely - countless examples from world history of defenceless people having no option but to flee in the face of advancing armies
By:
obviously, a person would be a coward and a traitor if he refused to defend his family and homeland given the means - but you have to be given those means. Pitchfork ain't much good against a tank.

did that O A P who tried to save Jo have anything but courage . went against an armed man

On Politics Today they interviewed a Norwegian politician because Norway has been used as a reference and because Norway have voted on joining the EU twice and rejected it both times.
The politician stated that the Prime Minister and Chancellor along with the banks and all business leaders stated that if Norway voted NO in 1994 then they would: Lose thousands of jobs Big business would not invest billions in investment Interest rates would go up Economic downturn Devastate the Welfare state Lose pensions Each family would lose about £3,000 a year They would be totally isolated Not influence matters No trade deals No negotiating position. All was rubbish And Norway is doing just fine. Does this ring any bells? |
By:
But they still have free movement of people within the EU, which seems to be the main problem for most "Leavers". So what would exit achieve?
By:
brigust1 has been hitting his head against a brick wall of facts for so long now he is clearly concussed and, not unreasonably, is getting confused.
By:
Norway is part of the European Economic Community so has to accept EU laws and the free movement of people and it pays the EU £623 million to be in the single market from which it gets rebates for research etc but it has not joined the Common Agricultural and Fishing Policy.
By:
Sure, but you haven't answered the point.

norway got 10000 immigrants from syria. compared to the population of the uk thats much more.
By:
My point is that all of the reasons Norway were told would happen by not being in the EU are the same reasons we have been told if we are not in the EU. They didn't happen in Norway and may believe they won't happen here. They believe immigration is necessary but not in huge, uncontrolled numbers. To everyone, from both sides, that is just plain common sense.
The fact of the matter is that again we have been fed false information. Why would that be? Personally I believe the big business leaders established here are very happy with an available and endless cheap workforce. I can see no other possible reason at all. The market is pretty fixed. The number of cars, washing machines etc is pretty fixed so the accountants can quite easily calculate profits in such a fixed economy. If the workforce suddenly became more expense due to better wages the only losers would be the big business profit makers. In my humble opinion. The free movement of people is only a bi-product as everyone knows and as stated by Gove and Boris. Dom there is a huge difference between refugees and immigrants. |

One of Norway's top business leaders - no less the director general of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (Kristen Skogen Lund) has warned Britain about the dangers of following her country to the fringes of Europe. Norway joined the European Economic Area but not the full EU in 1994. She says they face almost all the rules of full members but have no say on how they are drawn up by Brussels. The EEA is not just a trading agreement - there are laws, rules and regulations and bureaucracy. She says it took Norway 16 years to form a relationship with the EU and is made up of over 100 separate deals - she said "I hope you are not pinning your hopes on getting a deal quickly"
Make of that what you will |

European Union outsider Norway has been named the most prosperous country in the world for the seventh year in a row.
Norway has come out top because of the freedom offered to citizens, the quality of its healthcare system and social bonds between its people, according to The 2015 Legatum Prosperity Index. |
By:
I think it won't make the slightest difference if we stay or leave.
The corporate sector will still control our Government's policy decisions and will still find ways around any laws that affect them whether made in Brussels or Westminster. |

Norway has a small population and large oil-fields, you may as well compare us to Saudi

if we vote Leave
EU make all Britains temp residents can we cope with return of 1.2 million britugees ![]() |
By:
Well my opinion as changed , I was all for being in, but I have listened to all the arguments and the one big point that hits home to me is who are these people in power within the EU? it is so cloak and dagger I really have not got a clue, who they are or what they do, this is a failure on their part, and thus I am definitely voting out.

By:
I may be a socialist who believes that more socialism exists in Europe, but how on earth can I vote for an undemocratically appointed organization where I have NO INPUT?
VOTE OUT! ![]() |

Captain Christy, I repeat who are these unelected officials in Europe? (capitalist controlled for sure)

By:
We've got plenty of them here, running big corporations, the house of lords etc

By:
Agree, but if Skinner is out that is good enough for me, our house of parliament as gone downhill since they signed their rights away. We need debate back, it is replicating Europe that is the problem (one of many)
By:
if Skinner is out that is good enough for me
Reading that makes me question whether or not the writer is sane .Skinner is undoubtedly what my kids used to call a r*t*rd. Allowing that idiot's views to influence anyone would be like attending the madhatters tea party. |
By:
Hi posy, Skinner represents the voice of honesty ,his own, but we recognize the passion. The kids these days have not a clue what freedom is, for it as been taken away like their taxes which were intended for the NHS and local services and given to Bankers.
By:
Why do you pay taxes? to make rich people more wealthy? Where do our taxes go? (into bankers pockets and EU funds) yes, the capitalist has control over our Government, but that control is even easier in Europe, not many of any peoples of Europe understand what Europe is? Let alone how money is distributed, they think us ignorant and treat us as like. Silence is their weapon of choice, they explain nothing.
