WD Mackies. I fancied that (even gave it to a lad in the pub last night who asking for tips) but I just backed George's two

![]() Always back your own fancies, go-all-in, it's ridiculous not to! |

Thanks go all in. I think George was right - his two will be big contenders in the Musselburgh race.
Royal Birth was absolutely tanking along 2 out there. Probably needed the run but definitely one to follow. |
|
By:
very well done mackies, that won very nicely

I hadn't really put much study into the race George, I'd just had DOF in my mental notebook for a while as a well handicapped horse. Draw and ground looked fine so seemed an obvious pick. Never really got much further into looking at the race than that. Too much of a sore head from celebrating Sunderland's win last night

vwd mackies agree about R B & others targetting Musselburgh

Thanks FL / SG
As hard as it was to watch Sunderland murder us last night I'm celebrating it today as we've finally sacked the manager on the back of another inept showing! |

There's no denying it, things have turned frosty and the thread could use a winner

Carry Me Home, 1pt win @ 16-1, 4.50 Newbury
He caught the eye during the winter shaping like a step up in trip would suit and he went on to win his maiden over 10f at Lingfield; his first try on turf at Salisbury over 10f was a good effort when runner-up to a totally unexposed Stoute-trained handicap debutant, with the third horse on a hat-trick, and horse beaten 9l into fourth having gone on to be beaten less than 2l in a competitive handicap at Windsor. The way Carry Me Home stuck to his task at Salisbury suggested he's worth a go over further and the step up to 11f here promises to suit. Emperor Napoleon, 1pt win @ 12-1, 4.50 Newbury Emperor Napoleon caught the eye at Kempton on his second start (backed from 16-1 into 10-1) when returning from a 5 month break after his debut, shaping like he could have done with a stronger pace having raced keenly, but keeping on well after not having had the best of runs in the straight. His third run for a mark came at Bath over the extended 11f and he did remarkably well to finish as close as he did given he refused to settle from a wide draw and was wide without cover for most of the journey; that might not have been a bad maiden with the principals, who are all from top stables, pulling well clear of the remainder. The winner Red Cardinal (who was conceding weight for age) has been given a mark of 82, and Emperor Napoleon goes handicapping off 73, which looks workable, but clearly he needs to settle better, but if he can, he certainly looks up to winning races of this mark. Dottie Lottie, 1pt win @ 14-1, 9.05 Dundalk Three runs over 7f at Dundalk for a mark and the third of them when hitting the frame in March suggested a step up in trip may suit; the notebook run came on her handicap debut and latest start when perhaps surprisingly dropped back to 6f; slowly away, she was keen as the pace steadied, before getting no run whatsoever in the straight and shaping a deal better than the bare result. Dottie Lottie steps up to a mile here, so has stamina to prove, but how she'd shaped previously and the dam's side of the pedigree suggests it shouldn't be an issue; hood goes on for the first time. |

I let one through after 2 tries this season yesterday George, Jim Boyle's duke of north, what's worse i did something else tailed off in the race. Highlights to me how rough big fields can be at bath, I thought it was cut up and it was left to coast home after.
The worst thing about a notebook is when you scrub them out and they do that nto ![]() gl today ![]() |

By:
it's funny you say that striding because there's a young sprinter running today i was keeping an eye on from a small yard and i decided this morning to ignore it
since then i've had this nagging doubt i am making a mistake lol |
|
By:
I'd notebooked Carpe Diem Lady on her debut, but the 3 runs since had gotten progressively worse, and then she goes close last night at huge odds
![]() gl today, striding elise, feel free to PM me that won ![]() |

Gl today George
Totally understandable with that one Striding I thought he'd have a very good AW campaign but he disappointed on a few occasions and I'd removed him too. Great point about Bath as well. I'll spare everyone the lengthy write up but the run of Udontdodou at Thirsk lto seems to have been seriously underestimated by the handicapper because this horse is clearly much much better than a mark of 79. Absolute stand out bet for me today in spite of a couple of unexposed and we'll handicapped types in the race. |

I reckon it's running in the 5.30 HQ, mackies
![]() Good luck mackies, thanks for sharing! |

By:
Any concerns about the ground for that one, mackies?
|
|
By:
Only concern would be he's not run on it before George. Guesty doesnt seem too concerned. I think he feels he wants better ground.
I think he may be better with some give. But I think he's that well in he will still win. |

not a secret, there are two uk horses running in the group 3 at maisons laffitte this afternoon, lil's joy for bravery is a gutsy thing, has run well twice in france before, g3 @ long and a listed at chantilly, both 2nd, open race today & has a chance
the muir horse in the same race has a few pounds to find but actually it might go well, at the odds though i prefer lils |

Given it's one of Guesty's, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised
![]() Cheers elise, and good luck if you get involved |
|
By:
i will back it on the pmu if i can get 7s or better, currently fav with uk books, should be bigger in france
|
|

George that family of Udontdodoyou (Times suffix) all want quick ground so I think he might improve on it,big danger is Just That Lord with the clock he put up last time but is priced accordingly. I've got lots of bets on today but all the prices have gone.gl with yours today

elise,,
16:00 Lil's Joy Lil's Joy has got a good draw and we will try to dominate. The ground is very soft here and she doesn't mind that so with a lot in her favour I'm expecting a bold show. G. Bravery |
|
By:
Placer there George, but I think you're better off carrying on with Win only like you did, and waiting for that currently elusive winner.
|
|
By:
I've got 16 in my notebook for tomorrow, but only one I'm interested in, and it's currently too short.
How many you got? |
|
By:
Too many
![]() I had it in my mind I'd only go EW if it was 20s or bigger, but a winner is needed, whatever. Pandar seems a long time ago now ![]() |
|
By:
They can't give Lightning Spree away here.
Wide draw won't help his pulling tendencies, and not sure about quicker ground for him. |
|
By:
I take it you've left him alone George
![]() |
|
By:
What do we make of that then!!
|
|
By:
Had a little on Fl. For the third time running, Gray has gone through the line with a lot of horse under him.
|
|
By:
Why not just come down the outer, he had the option.
|
|
By:
Be interesting to see if he keeps the ride. He seemed to be at pains to wait and wait again there and keep the horse covered up...
...which makes very little sense to me as when the horse saw daylight last time he certainly put his head down and ran on, as he appeared to do today. Couple it with the drift and you do wonder. |
|
By:
When I picked it the first time on here at Ayr, after the line it was pulling his arms out it had so much running left in it, which baffled me as to why he held on to it the last day, he must have known it would it find.
Maybe after the Hamilton run last year, they've got it in their heads it needs hanging on to. |
