This could become very interesting, as mentioned, all bets are settled, sadly I was on Speculative Bid.

Presumably declared a NR prior to the Weighed In. If any paid out prior to that hard cheese.

those who backed it expected a run for their money and hoped it would win, if they've deemed it a non runner they must surely accept it was starter error - if he was a Premier League referee - or a jockey - he'd be having an enforced holiday on the back on of an error like that.

He's probably about to start one of the biggest races of the summer instead.

How come they'd already weighed in before it was declared a non runner?

This is bollocks, next time a horse is facing backwards when the starter lets them go over NH (which happens once a week) we can demand our money back. A dangerous precedent set here.

Agree. But surely it's the rules at fault and need rewording in that case.

'This market will initially be settled on a First Past the Post basis. However we will re-settle all bets should the official result at the time of the "weigh-in" announcement differ from any initial settlement' clearly the timing of announcement of Speculative Bid's non-participation and subsequent 'withdrawal' in relation to the official 'weighed in' time is a big issue for BF...

From Betfair's terms and conditions

Horseracing

    13.1General
All individual race markets will be determined according to the official result at the time of the 'weigh-in' announcement (or equivalent). Subsequent disqualifications, appeals or amendments to the result will be disregarded.

they need to make an official announcement either way.
By:

When: 25 Jul 15 16:20
the horse did not take part in the race,so it does not matter what time the weigh in took place.

I bet Donncha e.w. but as Speculative Bid was in stall 24 of a possible 29, I am not sure how the starter did not a problem.

When: 25 Jul 15 16:21
There terms might say one thing but if they disregard the rules of racing -i.e.Speculative Bid was an official non runner, then I can see this being a major issue.
They chose to void bets on the that Irish hurdler who was laid for hundreds of thousands even when it was clear over the last so they clearly can do whatever they like whenever it suits them.

horse went into the stalls, stalls opened, horse left the stalls. fail to see on what basis it has been called a non-runner?

Every single steward at ascot should be sacked and warned off for life.
