A long time since I've seen this type of bet.
I used to do this 3 x 3 across two races quite a lot in my younger days. Used to use sp betting forecast's as a guide.i.e 2nd and 3rd favs. Never ew though. Some excellent returns, but totally random consistency. Not a system for long term profit. Fun though. Be interesting to see how you get on. What criteria do you use to choose the two races ? |

if both favs win your well dowm.

Each way doubles used to be the lifeblood of my betting (for over 40 years) but haven't done one for 3/4 years as difficulty in getting them on with prices and bookie manipulated SPs do not make it worthwhile for me. Will watch your results with interest, good luck.

1/5 puts me off e/w

Each way doubles are nigh on a thing of the past, great bets that they once were all the same.
Market manipulation is a big factor against doing them, but since the exchanges really took over, what has happened is that connections of obvious place minimum horses are now being prevented from placing, as they are now not just a 7/1 shot against a 2/5 fav, very often they are 2/5 themselves on the place market. So whats happening is that they lay their own onme which isnt off, have it on the fav to win, and then the next day back their own in a more suitable race at an inflated price due to an inexplicably bad run. Its as simple as that, and its going on almost daily. |

mincer post 14.18 is spot on

By:
why prize money 3k to the winner once a winning chance has gone peanuts for 2nd or 3rd and you go up 5lbs....make the job harder next time

PennyPincher -
Surely you are just backing them by the BETTING FORECAST prices - and not from assiduous Form Study. After all - Win or Lose - One of your selections, today, has been PULLED UP THREE times (admittedly in Chases)in it's last 4 outings - and they are now resorting to adding cheekpieces. |

I've a question for proponents of the EW double/treble (former and current):
How many of you split stakes from leg to leg, and what dictates when you do or don't do this? |
By:
|
By:
Oh well
|
By:
I know somebody that bets almost exclusively on short e/w doubles (i.e favs at 5/2, 11/4, 3/1). Too much of a grind for me, but he seems to make it pay.
|
By:
PennyPincher - you must have to spend hours trawling around shops/accounts to get these bets on at BOG. May I ask how many it took to get £180 on? I'd imagine a few winning bets and you'll have the proverbial shop door slammed in your face...
|
By:
I put the bet on in two shops, the thing is they dont return much so they are fine been doing them for years.
|
By:
Fair enough, wish it was as straightforward to get £90 EW singles on. Don't make too much of a success of it on here though, remember Mr Lucky? Good luck with the second leg. Cheers.

Nice bet today, all 9 in vwd.

Anybody work out the return today?
|
By:
Well done.

By:
Inc odds on sels isn't greatest strategy. I'd stick to win only too. Ie either halve total stake, or double win part.Has to make more profit in long run, as long as selection criteria is sound, and Bank is sufficient to cover a long losing run.
As I said used to do similar , 30 odd years ago. Usually selected 2 in each race, so 4 bets only. Might resurrect for a trial period ! |
