2015 HR FORUM MATCHPLAY CHALLENGE

Winner's Purse: £150

THE RULES

Please familiarise yourself with them and feel free to ask any questions if you're unsure about anything

1. A draw to determine who plays who will be made before each round.

2. Each player will receive a mythical £300 to place on 3 bets (£100 on each).

3. ALL SELECTIONS MUST BE POSTED BEFORE 1pm FOR THAT DAY'S ROUND. Failure to do will result in elimination from the competition.

3. Only one selection per race - ie more than one horse cannot be selected in the same race

4. Win and place bets on a horse will count as 1 bet, so for example, £50 EW or £30 win & £70 place.

5. UK, Irish and Dubai Carnival racing only

6. MULTIPLE BETS ARE NOT PERMITTED

7. ALL 3 SELECTIONS MUST BE POSTED AT THE SAME TIME.

8. PLEASE ENSURE ALL 3 SELECTIONS ARE CLEARLY PRESENTED, AND INCLUDE THE RACE TIME AND MEETING, for example:

Bet 1: Desert Orchid, £50 EW, 2.00 Kempton

Bet 2: Kauto Star, £100 win, 3.00 Kempton

Bet 3: Sir Rembrandt, £80 win and £20 place, 4.00 Chepstow


9. Betfair odds will be used to settle bets (no commission applied:

10. No duplicate selections, whoever takes the chance of showing their picks first will have first choice. If an opponent then selects the same horse, it will be settled as a loser, regardless of the outcome.

11. Non-runners: Please ensure your selections are still intended runners at the time of posting,  non-runners selected AFTER they have already been withdrawn will be settled as losers.
Also please check if your selection has been declared more than once.

In a nutshell, a NR will only be settled as a loser if:

i) Its 2nd preference is selected but it runs at its first preference
ii) A horse is selected AFTER it has already been declared a NR.

12. In the event of a tie, up to and including the semi-finals, the competitor whose 3 selections would have won the most money had they all obliged, will go through.

In the unlikely event of a tie that can't be settled using the above method, whoever took the chance of posting first will go through.

For the final only, in the event of a tie, there will be a replay

13. If neither player turns up for a match, or for whatever reason both players are eliminated from the competition (eg they posted their selections after noon), in order to to ensure there are the correct number of players going through to the next round, the highest scoring loser(s) will qualify.

* The only exception being the first round when reserves will take the places of those who don't post, in draw order.


14. In the event of a dispute, I will ensure that fair play and common sense prevails, therefore my decision will be final.

15. Profit & Loss totals do not include the stake. For example, if you selected a 2-1 ON winner and 2 losers, your loss will be £150

16. RULE REGARDING INSPECTIONS

IF SELECTING AT A MEETING WHERE AN INSPECTION HAS BEEN CALLED, PLEASE ENSURE YOU SELECT A RESERVE AT A MEETING WHERE THERE IS NO PLANNED / PRECAUTIONARY INSPECTION.

FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOUR SELECTION BEING SETTLED AS A LOSER IF THE MEETING IS ABANDONED.

ONCE A MEETING HAS BEEN GIVEN THE GO-AHEAD, THERE IS NO NEED TO POST A RESERVE IF YOU DON'T WISH TO, AND NORMAL NON-RUNNER RULES WILL APPLY.

THIS RULE HAS BEEN ADDED TO ENSURE THERE IS NO TACTICAL SELECTING AT MEETINGS THAT ARE LIKELY TO BE CALLED OFF.
