if Lads/Corals priced up a 1/20 then you will be lucky to get £600 cash in the shops to nick £30, absolute shysters who want the interest only punters to have their fivers and tenners on the 7/1 rag. If they price a 1/20 poke then punters if so mided should be able to bet cash cash to nick a bag but there is no chance and then they say its down to the GC and worries about punters carrying twenty large in readies.

Just said said doorman.

Why has he never learn't to drive? Seems the weirdest thing when he spends all his life going to sports events. Must be massively inconvenient.
By:
Remember the ante-post market for the 2006 RSA Hurdle - there was a quarter of a million chasing the price down from 2/1 or more.
Arguable whose money it really was. Anyone can be brave with someone else's credit. |

Looking forward to reading it.

At Goodwood this week, Findlay contacted me to reply to several questions I had posed about reports of his betting and racing activities. First, he confirmed that he had secured a line of credit to gamble on Betfair, although this was through an association with fellow punter and owner Tony Bloom. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/horseracing/7919551/Harry-Findlay-says-he-has-lost-2.5-million-betting-on-horseracing-Horse-Racing.html |

First review on Amazon not very promising. I get the impression it may lacking in substance; I did this , then I did that, rather than any insightfulness.

alot of the juicy bits aint in it storm Mr bloom got it easy alot of secrets could have been given away opportunity missed to tell all??? lacking substance could be the right expression.

in the latest ruk titbit says its well known he dropped 2 million on the all blacks but said he,d have also dropped 2 million on Federer If nadal hadn't hit 2 easy forehands out
By:
I see in the Mirror he was going to be 2.5m down on the all blacks but laid 'em @ 1.03 for £600,000 IR. I think most people would have laid a bit more !

After a couple of chapters, the relentless anecdotes are a bit wearing, and I could have done without Tom Brown's schooldays. There is no comment made on Harry's shifting views on shafting bookies, or the morality (or legality) of "borrowing" stake money. Otoh, the moralists will be pleased he is up before the beak.
Three and a half inches of shallow water FFS. |

So reading the book is unlikely to improve me as a punter then? Ok, I guess I'll hang on to my tenner and wait for Willoughby's book to be published.
By:
Surprised anyone thinks these books by celebrity gamblers will help their punting. Willoughby's book will likely just steer you to timefigure monsters like Dee Ex Bee ( beaten twice since )
By:
say it again weve got to keep reminding people willo,s and the captains speed busting figures
hawkwing heavy ground uncompetitive locking galditorius dogs race in meydan de ex bee soft heavy maiden at goodwood, since willo jumped on these 3 horses thry havnt won a race between them again, dont look good for de ex bee |
By:
Willo hit the main reason he struggles to make it pay the other night. Odds are involved. Not just times/sectionals and figures of horses. Therefore the weight of other peoples opinions/money can and does change everything.
By:
is that code for the games bent
as willo and the rest of them have been telling us for donkeys years horses don't no the odds |
By:
close sporting friends he mentions
a few have been in papers serious gambling probs |
By:
Just proves that its impossible to win by backing stick to laying you might have a chance.
By:
^ conclusive proof there
By:
Just think how much he would have won if he'd layed new zealand don't think he would have gone bankrupt. To be fair it would be brave but thats how to win money.
By:
you mean back them for 10 yrs and just no out of the blue they wernt going to beat france so lay them, might as well just win the scoop 6 every week for a 2 squid outlay, less stress

By:
sorry wrong
are pics 8 pages read best chapter so far coursing ireland |

it's fair to say Harry liked to be at sporting event he bet on
also loads of connections skint plenty of times but connections helped him to reraise cash quickly |
By:
Very true Money. Was with him when we went to Cradley Heath dogs to bet a short one, and Harry was given the inside info on 2 or 3 dogs that had good chances from locals that came up for a chat.
By:
basicly gambling is Harry's social life , borders on austistic
By:
I bet a lot of the most successful gamblers don't mix with other gamblers very often if at all.
By:
Regards the NZ cover. Yes he had been backing NZ and thought they would win again. But there came a point where they were a very short price ( possibly still value but possibly not ) and regardless of what you think the outcome is going to be there was a massive greening up opportunity. He could have made 7 figures either way.

Bought the book last night and soon regretted it, a speed read through various chapters told me I don't like this person as much as I though I would.
BTW the the author of the book has had his own failings if you google him. |
By:
Of course he couldn't stand the damage to his reputation ( in greening up ) Fearless Harry needed on the tombstone.
By:
coincidently was that all blacks defeat on the Saturday night of arc weekend

Since there is no need to go the racecourse any more, probably not. Poker players are probably the only ones left who need physically to be in the same place. |

I doubt if I will buy the book now but curiosity might get the better of me eventually. I doubt if there's anything I could learn from it so it would be for entertainment value.
I like the bloke and we are all different but something to think about... if I had 2.5 million to place a bet on I wouldn't care how strongly I fancied it. I would but a house worth 1.5 million for retirement reasons and have a go with the remaining million. Sounds so simple but if you lose the million... As my mentor once asked me 'why do you punt?' To win money of course I replied. 'And if you do win money' he replied..... Thankfully I have more discipline now but I still have the odd rush of blood to the head especially for example if I'm on one that's clear and falls one or two out. The truth of the matter is most punters punt to punt. Nowadays if I get a decent win I always buy a wee treat to Ms stew and myself. |

I believe Harry now lives in Sydney?? I thought you had to have some sort of profession to live there permanently?? Secondly Harry has been potless on more than one occasion. Been there, got the T Shirt. However I believe he has also re mortgaged his home on at least one occasion. Luckily I'm mortgage free but re mortgage my home? No way could I do that. Potless I can cope with but not homelessness. |
