Sponsorship is not really the big issue here. They have a UK licence by the Gambling Commission. Racecourses should be able to rely on that fact and not have to do own searches.

How come the Gambling Commission is not googling the firms to check their creditials before issuing licences?

If Betway don't obtain a full UKGC licence (they have a transitional one atm I believe), it will be illegal for them to sponsor a race in the UK.

I still do not understand how they can void bets after they have won....... explain please

It seems their T&C's have a condition where if they deem that you're an arber (i.e taken the best price with them), then they can close your account and keep the balance.

Another thing I've read is that if you bet more than 30% of your original deposit, that too is a reason to do the same !

And how can placing one bet, deem you as an arber? I would like to see them try and prove that type of claim.

Betway is a joke company. When I opened the account, I deposited just 50 quid and wanted to place a bet on India to win a cricket match.
They rejected and only offered 20. lol what a joke. Was my first bet with them and they didn't want to take the whooping risk of 50 at evens.

They don't have to. By opening an account, you've agreed to their T&S's !

Maybe the GC should look in to ECOGRI. I suspect these 2 companies work hand in hand and are not impartial in anyway.

the point has been made .... ie why would y need the hassle of betting with companies who in theory give you a tiny edge yet the actuality is they dont ... let it go base yr betting model around the exchange cut out the angst ,the wasted time and energy ... let it go guys ,,, its like complaining about the big bookies ... why bother ... i went into hill earlier one person playing god knows what ... do i want a cup of coffee nice staff but only following orders .... twenty quid bet for my bird cos its same name as hotel shes staying in ...she said back it with real money not the virtual stuff y use ... i cant remember when i last had a bet in a bookie ,,, i occasionally watch races in them but thats about all .

4 pages of complaints can't be wrong alan, you're not kidding anyone, thats if you are actually from betway which seems very odd and unprofessional to come onto the betfair forum.

Have you changed the T&C where it says you can "steal" members money if you "deem" that they might be arbers (or taken the best price even) ?

AFC1414.  Your firm stole my money four days after the horse won citing a previous account- it wasnt even much, can you look at my case please - if you really work there.

Send.in.the.clowns : I've sent you a private message with an e-mail address where you can send me details so I can investigate.
WFT : I think 'steal' might be the wrong word, but the clause you refer to is on the amendment list.
rmccarthy16 : nothing odd or unprofessional about my reply, I'm here to help clear this up and state a defence/case (where needed). The alternative is to ask Betfair to remove the thread (entirely within the rights of any competitor being criticised on here) - but that's not entirely conducive to free-speech and debate is it?

Fair play to AFC1414 who tried his best for me. But sad to say that Betway hid behind the rule and kept my money.

Basically they had a no lose situation with me, horse wins void - horse loses they keep it.

Anyhow I have since stuck 4 new accounts into the w@nkers and won much more than they cost me.

Steer clear.

HFT,
I have not had a bet with Sean Grahams for many years (I used to deal with Brian and they were capable of getting on).
You have conclusively proved which of us is the fool.

Anyone that thinks that the original ugliest family in Ulster takes a bet needs sectioning...

And I had the joy of working with one of them...LaughLaugh
