I can confirm that this WILL go ahead this year and the first bet or lay will be posted on Monday evening.
As many people know, this began in 2002 and is the highlight of the year for all Betfair forumites. The £30,000 has been won in 8 out of 11 years.
Newcomers, please note:
1. There is no middle ground - by the close of play on Friday, either the £30k will be won or the £5k will be lost.
2. There are no guarantees in racing - 8 times we have won £30k, but 3 times we have lost £5k.
3. Obviously that is a net profit of £185,000 but there are no certainties year on year.
4. All bets or lays are either based on inside information (I place bets in the Far East for "certain people") or my opinion. No clarification will be given on any bet - you can either follow or leave.
5. Obviously you are equally welcome to turn £500 to £3000, or even £50 to £300.......the stakes are entirely your own choice.
6. Ignorant sorts who write "post your bets" will be duly ignored and blocked.
7. And just to clarify I posted as "Grave Dodger" for about 6 years before switching accounts and posting as "GraveDodger" for the past 6 years or so.
8. This is a special gift from me to the world and ONLY operates for Cheltenham. Please do not beg me to do this for other big meetings, or ask me to give you private bets. No matter what money you offer me, all such requests will be met with a polite refusal.
9. The target is £30k from a starting bank of £5k. So that will be £25,000 clear profit. Once the profit is reached, all bets STOP, even if it happens on Day One.
10. There will not be bets in every race, and I will always tell you when the next bet is due to be given out. Most investments will actually be lays.

Whilst it may or may not be value to back in one's opinion, my LAYS need to be at least 98% certain to lose and one cannot say that HF is 98% likely to lose!! We may or may not play around with a small part of the profits as well. Vautour is the big hope for Ireland and is a remarkable 6 pounds clear top rated on bhb official ratings - for many this SEEMS like it is almost a penalty-kick.........but sometimes things are not always as straightforward as they seem to be. Gravedodger is ADAMANT that Vautour cannot win this race - he has told his friends to lay it until the blood is dripping from their nostrils. It now forms the first leg of our £30,000 challenge. Do not waste my time asking if it is also a place lay. It does not matter. All that matters is that it MUST NOT WIN. Entire bank for the week staked on the first race!!!!!!!!! Gravedodger is ever so confident that we will get a good start here. I will post again after the race. |
