Brian Radford use to always be on to these sort of stories but missed the target plenty of times - though being careful not to tread on the libellous path would no doubt have restrained him.Seems to have been off the scene for a while now though I notice that he is a guest speaker at Newbury Town Hall this coming January, on the subject of ' Exploring Investigative Journalism '.

Struthers will no doubt say that it's an outrageous set-up and the that all jockeys are 100% trustworthy.

Are we going to be able to hear this CD somehow?
|

I don't very often post here as I am more into the breeding side (although I do keep up with all your entertaining comments). I supported Dwyer and was pleased when his ban wasn't reciprocated here, however if these revelations are true I hope they ban him for 10 years like that weasel Ahern.
|
|
By:
If Dwyer is saying that he should be lashed out of it by all.
Comes across as cleaner than the preachers sheets. They are all at it imo. |

Never thought he was bendy, just thought he was hopeless.

One evening last season at Donny, Mulrennan rode Buster Brown at Donny, and it appeared (though would need sectionals to confirm) that he went off too fast on the horse (there was a thread about it on the night) and BB was a spent force 2f out.
The next time the horse ran, at Newcastle, it landed a gamble under totally different riding tactics ie held up last. Not always easy to make up ground from the off the pace at Newcastle on the round course, but luckily for backers there was a horse in the race that blasted off in front to set a good pace...Almuftarris...ridden by a one P.Mulrennan. I haven't forgot his ride either on Storma Norma at Chester last season. Worth a watch imo. The RP analyst noted that the jockey didn't see very hard on her, even though she was making up ground steadily. |
|
By:
Does n't sound great but:
a) I'd like to hear the tape b) why is it only coming to light 3.5 years after the event? c) timing seems coincidental/fortuitous considering BHA have just refused to reciprocate Dwyer's ban d) David Allan will be most upset Would be great if one of our dedicated racing channels could get hold of this CD (should be within their means to do that surely) and play it for us in full so that we can make our own minds up. |
|
By:
lol
the racing press wont even mention it, if they do they will be very defensive or dismissive. |
|
By:
In fairness to boycie, I remember him saying concerning dwyers ride that caused all the fuss this year, that he thought it wasn't clear cut and thought there was something there to explain, he didn't just dismiss it as nonsense.
|
|
By:
Is it possible to view the race in question, anyone know? Possibly on that same site that showed the Dwyer ride?
|
|
By:
The Indian stewards knew exactly what was going on with that ride, only the idiots here in the racing press and the most inept BHA believe Dwyer done nothing wrong.
Will ATR mentioned this on Sunday Forum? lets wait and see. |

I backed dwyer on a few occasions when riding for tregoning among others , used to wonder why he was so unlucky in running , also me aswell
![]() His wiki page has this story and f all else Apart from a few who are at the top table with too much to lose , it is rife , can you risk much in this game anymore i think not |

Mick can you bang one out without thinking someones bent? , got visions of you going to the fridge for milk and finding that its all gone and somehow blaming o'brien dwyer or the coolmore massive
. Do you ever blame yourself for any of your betting mishaps? |

Can't say I am shocked with these Mulrennan rumours. Had my suspicions about him for a few months now. A work colleagues family member is good friends with him and often gets good 'tips' from him I am told.
As others have said, how stupid must the BHA and jockeys think the public are to think we don't know this stuff goes on everyday of the week at Southwell, Brighton, Newcastle etc. The fact that they immediately jump on the defensive and look after their own and told that us people not directly involved we don't know what we are talking about unless we have trained or ridden a horse speaks volumes. It's something though that is not going to be wiped out of the sport in the next 10-20 years though as nobody is interested in uncovering it. Can't believe nobody of note has ever been caught out in a tabloid sting though. |

so it was a 3 horse race ...
![]() if thats the biggest race fixing racket in india ....my granny was a cowboy ![]() he just tells his m8 to back the winner ...you lot need to get out more ![]() |

By:
Why the dismissive post breadnbutter?, nobody would care if a jockey had a bet on in a race he wasn't riding in, but in this case its quite clear these guys were backing other horses in races they were riding in to me this is a potential H Bomb.
|
|
By:
Be fascinating to hear this recording, someones got to be telling the truth .
|
|
By:
Everyday ,every race course , every weighing room
Surely we all know this, most low class races are run before hand and family, friends, trainers etc are all backing the winner or laying the short priced loser Will never stop. |
|
By:
"She (Icebreaker ) is as good as the horse (Becket) I rode in the Derby if you compare...I am going to back the filly (Icebreaker)." He then goes on to erase Mulrennan's doubts saying, "She should win, she is a good filly mate."
That's one potential offence if true - I'm assuming jockeys aren't allowed to bet in India. "Mulrennan then ends that topic saying, 'So I will try and sit..." The other question the Indian authorities may ask if the CD is genuine - did Mulrennan ride his mount on its merits? What do you think, breadnbutter? |
|
By:
A lot harder to engage in skulduggery in a 3 horse race apart from a suicidal pace non of the " I got boxed in sir" or "he took me ground and I got shuffled back sir"
|
|
By:
Just shows now why the Indian stewards were desperate to do Dwyer when they thought there was a chance. Also shows that while we think that our racing(Ireland and UK) is the best, the stewards are conference league compared to stewards in other Countries. I wonder what Willoughby now thinks of Mulrennan, a jockey he's alwayd been quick to highlight.

so it was a 3 horse race ...Laugh if thats the biggest race fixing racket in india ....my granny was a cowboy Grin he just tells his m8 to back the winner ...you lot need to get out more Laugh Duvauchelle 20 Oct 13 10:12 A lot harder to engage in skulduggery in a 3 horse race apart from a suicidal pace non of the " I got boxed in sir" or "he took me ground and I got shuffled back sir" Mulrennan, who was astride Onassis, never makes any headway in the race before finishing fourth. Sorry chaps but wasn't a 3 horse race! ![]() |

Dwyer also advises Mulrennan to keep David Allan (Icebreaker's jockey) out of the loop saying 'and leave David out of the loop, he's f****** doesn't have the brain. He is f****** terrified of Paddy (Icebreaker's trainer S Padmanabhan), he just does what is told to him (and) tries to win every race after what happened to him last year'.
If Dwyer said that, what had happened to Allan the previous year!? "he's f****** doesn't have the brain"..."(and) {Allan} tries to win every race" Oh dear. |
