In a few years time Britain will be polluted with people who feel the same way as optic. The public are being shafted right, left & centre by smug, smirking, skvm bags who don't give a sh1t about anything beyond the number of zeros on the end of their bank balance. Britain is now run along the lines of the Sopranos. It's fine to shaft all and sundry as long as the government get their slice of the action. White collar fraud is the only growth industry in this country. The day cannot be far off when the suicide bombers will be white Europeans.

![]() Some area managers have even told there managers too give the self excludeds free spins. ![]() ladies and gents you are dealing with devils with no moral fibre.Scum |

By:
Yes. Self exclusion is the biggest lie going. Some shops enforce better than others but some don't care as long as their profits look good. A lot of the staff attitude is if he/she comes back than it is their problem. Don't know if it is intimidation by certain customers, don't want hassle or pressure from their bosses to keep profits at an expected level.I self excluded because I couldn't stop myself but they don't enforce it.I have even considered moving to a quiet area with no or one bookmaker because my life can't progress with this fobt madness controlling me.

By:
Optic. respect to you for admitting your problem on here and ignore those that feel morally superior.
As others have said, smashing them up isn't the answer for a number of reasons. Most importantly, it will effect you and your family. Think about that...your family. Head office won't bat an eyelid. The guy from Paddy Power didn't even know an armed robbery might have an effect on his staff so a machine getting battered will be water off a ducks back to the people that actually proliferate this sh*t. |

Agree feck n eejit. A lot of people are in my position now and feel powerless to do anything about it. The culture of take it on the chin and forget about it is the worst people can do. Remember we are in a double dip will be triple dip recession a lot of it is due to our gambling culture. The money which should go to hard working businesses is going in the hands of greedy corporate gambling industries. Each day what passes more people hit the breadline and think winning a £10 a week will keep their neck above the water. But the floor they stand on is getting deeper.

Totally agree optic but while the French will maybe take to the streets or blockade the ports the British will probably blame it all on the unemployed or the immigrants. If Mari Antoinette had happened in England her "can't they eat cake" quote would've seen her voted in for another two terms. |

One problem is when calling for a ban on FOBTs..
who knows where it will lead? In the great U.S.A. I understand they have banned internet betting?? I would not want that here The problem is they are gambling in its 'rawest form' they are all about the thrill of the gamble, nothing else also it is the speed people can can lose their money Sports better is slower although judging by the number of races shown it seems bookies will not be satisfied until there is a horse race shown from somewhere starting every 10 secs... |
|
By:
Don't do it optic.
Especially to ingratiate yourself on an anonymous forum. There is no "free" gambling, and the fact that you are promising to do this on a gambling site is a bad indicator. If you want to stop, you have to stay away from all gambling sites. |
|
By:
FOBTS are no different to being robbed by a Romanian on London Bridge with 3 cups and a dice. They let you win a few times then bang...no skill involved on your part whatsoever.
The thing is, you have to take personal responsibility for your actions. Only when you realise it is you that is the problem and not them will you overcome the addiction. Not preaching at all but that is fact. |

my mate done 17,000 in fobts before he gave up gambling and has not gambled for years, i never thought i'd see the day when he never had a bet but the fobt's ruined him and completeley soured his appitite for a bet.

Sometimes though like today I'd be delighted with a 78% return on investment a la fobt...

saxon - It's ironic, but I had a thread in my own mind about how cr*p gambling is - following Duntle's demotion today - and it helps to let off a bit of steam on the forum but that's rather different from what optic is threatening.
Gambling only compensates for an absence in our lives, and that is what we have to address, even those who are up overall. Don't let it make you sink to the understanding of an animal. Just stop. |

A good post, but I take issue with the middle paragraph. Nearly every transaction in life is a gamble, whether it be investing in real estate or down to the price of a bag of sugar. How you deal with it when it goes Pete Tong, is up to you. Either way, it has no resemblance to an absence in a life. Regarding your final paragraph, in your heart of hearts do you really think it is as simplistic as that, to just stop? |

If the op idea of smashing all the fobt's in his local bookie is to be effective
then I should warn him there are probably circa 10,000 betting shops in the U.K...I think? so he is in for a busy day tomorrow apologies ..it is not a joking matterthe op need help if he is unable to limit his gambling to what he can afford to lose he must stop gambling altogether HE MUST NEVER EVER ENTER ANOTHER BETTING SHOP ..starting now! He must find help it really is not worth a prison sentence |
|
By:
agree Saxon
...it will the hardest thing he has ever done that is what being an addict means but he must do it |
|
By:
He likes playing them?
Let him get on with it I say... Keeping all the betting shops profitable, helps people like me get a decent bet on in shops, as all my internet/phone accounts are closed... |

Optic - you don't seem to have any faith in the normal helping agencies G A, GamCare etc and you seem unable to stop yourself from going into betting shops. Getting yourself locked up seems like a good option given the circumstances. At least you wont be able to go on any machines during the time you are away and it might give you a chance to get it out of your system and sort your head out.
The life you appear to be leading is like a form of prison in itself so you may as well go somewhere where you can't play on machines. Sounds daft doesn't it but that's the reality of your situation. Given how badly you have been affected by all of this and how strongly you feel, why don't you throw yourself into campaigning against the spread of this evil, contact the tonight program, start a blog, write to the newspapers and your local MP'S. You'll be surprised by how many people would support you. That way you would gain some strength to resist your addiction. Just one other suggestion - tell everyone close to you what's been going on and tell them you want their support to help you stop. Good luck mate. |
