"It's an illness" The most over used sentence ever. Feck em imo. If they are thick enough to play these machines they deserve all they get. Oh I think you've cornered the market in being thick. In fact I'd be confident in stating you are a complete and total moron. |
|
By:
... and theres the nub, the worlds full of thick phuckers!
Just as well, like Facts, we're all clever b astards' on 'ere ! |

Quarrel's manager told me as soon as the kids turn 18,even on their birthday for an early start, they are on the machines and filling in a footie coupon. No interest in racing at all.
Having said that didn't we all go into pubs as soon as we were 18,or in my case,17. |

The current wave of FOBT activity will not last the test of time as a point will be reached when players realise the game is set against them in the long run, sports on the other hand have always maintained a traditional interest with the masses as the grand national will prove soon and football is very popular now as a betting subject, bookmakers are happy to keep FOBTS as it means less staff and faster frequency gambling which increase profits but they fail to see what will happen in the long term as they lose large slice of the new generation that hasn't moved from the machines to watch the racing and enjoy reading the form and tips, time will tell if FOBT will cause a downturn in gabling in LBO longterm as I believe it will.!

By:
Traditions, culture and sports is much differnt to fads like the rubik cube, poker and FOBT playing which never stand the test of time, Flares also have died a death thankfully

i like these machines. they keep large numbers of the lower orders off the streets for 12 hours a day.
they actually produce a reasonable return, better than dogs or horses. it is nothing to do with intelligence, as wanchors like duncan state. if it was every one of the kn0bheads on here would be on them. this is an example of prescriptive dogma beloved of people who are convinced they know what is best for humanity and think anyone who does not agree with them is thick. they are immune to such contagion, presumably because they are superior beings. |

what i want 2 know is y do people watch other people playing FOBT when on the odd day i go in 2 my local ladcrooks there is always people there watching y ?

Used to love the atmosphere and banter in bookies shops but last few years any time i go in i can't wait to leave.
Full of low lifes now ,whereas you used to get loads of characters. As for the FOBT'S they are indeed like a drug to the low lifes and you always have groups of them crowdwd round the machines. Why are they not random anyway, surely there is a big enough profit in roullete without having to fix the outcome? |
|
By:
They are random, you doughnut.
|
|
By:
LOL no way they are random.
They payout a fixed percentage. |
|
By:
'loads of characters' don't think so. unless you are very easily amused and do not discriminate.
|
|
By:
grappler are you honestly telling me there is now a better atmosphere in a bookies shop these days?
|
|
By:
anyone that disputes their randomness is an idiot.
|
|
By:
no i'm not. i'm saying the 'atmosphere' was never a reason to be there. always been full of fools

Fukc me i remember when you could have a conversation about HORSE RACING ,not which number you think will win the next cartoon car race.
|
|
By:
Ithink these machines were meant for the odd coin to be put in but people are crediting £500 a time to them.
|
|
By:
never wanted a conversation with a stranger about horse racing. guaranteed borefest.

By:
got paid out five pounds on a one armed bandit a few years back.
funnily enough I have never been tempted to reinvest |

LOL no way they are random. They payout a fixed percentage. Why don't you bore everyone with your conversation about horse racing rather than spout sh1te about something you clearly have no knowledge about. |
|
By:
So just to get this right - you were the only other person in the shop and you were watching them closely enough to count all the money transacations (and note exactly how much) and watch your race and they didn't notice you at all? Lucky you just happened to look over whenever money changed hands and they didn't notice you constantly looking at them.........

steel curtain....'what i want 2 know is y do people watch other people playing FOBT when on the odd day i go in 2 my local ladcrooks there is always people there watching y ? '
It's called schadenfreud......revelling in the misfortune of others. A bit like the audience who used to watch gladiators fight to a bloody death in ancient rome. And in recent times Jerry Springer. We all do it to a certain extent...watching boxing, knowing that we won't come to any harm ourselves. Or the ice hockey fights and ufc. |
|
By:
steelcurtain - ribotman is right. its like why people always slow down when there is an accident on a road. same kind of thing i suppose. i wouldnt normally watch the fobt's but it was due to who was on it that intrigued me.
spyker - it is a tiny betfred's on the outskirt of bedford. u only have to turn your head away from the racing to see the machines, i could read it every time it said 'add credit'. i wanted the mother to see me in the hope that somehow she would know that i was watching and would feel bad about what she was doing (taking her mothers debit card to fund her addiction then pocketing £20). i hadnt the bottle to go over and say anything. its none of my business but i felt disgusted for the old lady. |

These machines are a more accessible form of gambling for the entry level punter.
For the majority of punters (mugs) it is a better value alternative. The problem therefore that mugs are being diverted in droves from racing, and there isn't a crowd for the sharks to hide in. If any crowd can claim the moral high ground is not this one, - all the worries about mugs on the machines are purely selfish concerns about the disappearing liquidity. |
