"The horse is crying out for 1m 2f"- and this is based on what exactly- scrambling over the line in the st james palace
excelebration= a TOP, TOP mile= get a grip, buddy the horses sea the stars beat in his guineas is the WHO's WHO of top horses |
|
By:
I have no problem with people sticking up for Sea The Stars, as he was a great horse. However, the notion he could live with Frankel at a mile is a bit laughable. 1m2f, well we'll have to see, though there's nothing to suggest Frankel won't be as effective at that trip. And btw, if you can't see how good Excelebration is, then good luck, as you need it.

Delegator ran 12 times won 2. A Listed race and a Group 2.
Gan Amras ran 8 times never placed. Rip Van Winkle ran 10 times won 3. Beating Zacinto, Paco Boy and Twice Over. Who's who? Get a grip the race was terrible. |

funny what people see, or choose to leave out

Ballydoyle look to have a strong hand going into next season so we could have some really great races next year over middle distances with Frankel giving weight. Camelot, Maybe, Wading, Kissing(3fillies) all look great prospects to me.
|
|
By:
Hope the fact they aren't colts doesn't mean they just stick to the fillies programme, probably will mind as Coolmore are only interested in making stallions, but I'd love to see Frankel v Maybe next year.

Taipan501......it was one of the worst 2000G of the last 20 years for God's sake. Get a grip man!!
|
|
By:
Since the 2000gns RVW ran 10 won 3 as listed.
Mastercraftsman bt Rayeni who then ran 8 times and only won 1 listed race. He also bt Fiery Lad who ran 6 further times winning handicap at Epsom. Monitor Closely ran 11 times winning once. Ffs. Finjaan ran 10 times winning once. I never listed them because they are embarassing. Take it from me Taipan, the form is shocking. |
|
By:
You know you're struggling when you list Monitor Closely as evidence of solid form.
. Lord Shanakil and Cityscape beaten distances is proof of what? That they weren't fit? They didn't like the ground? If you want to be silly, how about looking at how far Irish Guineas winner Roderic O Conner was beaten in Frankel's Guineas. "Don't be ridiculous you say"? Exactly. |

How far would Frankel have been beaten STS over a mile then if its laughable to think
STS would've won. Could he have split Frankel and the German guineas winner? |
|
By:
simple question lads- how many group 1 races have the horse's won that finished behind frankel in the guineas combined, since he beat them!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????
answer 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! clowns the lot of you |
|
By:
its pointless saying sts or frankel is better as they will never meet on a racecourse but my take on it fwiw is when sea the stars won his guineas it was to me a very good performance from a very very good horse who went on to prove himself to be the best for about the last 20 odd years ,
the guineas win of frankel was like wow what the f..k was that ......and i sat stunned for about 5 minuets thinking he absolutley murdered them . this horse has the wow factor , my opinion dont count for a lot, but when hrh and k.abdulla say this is the best horse they have had/ seen you have got to take it on board, the scary thing is this horse may well improve from 3-4 and for the step up in trip ,heres hoping ! |
|
By:
It is true, but the RUK, Racing Post hype boys always need to justify the position. STS was a smashing horse, not his fault it was a shocking 3yo crop that year. If you like form look at Dancing Brave's Arc or Zilzal's Sussex,I suspect there are more Group 1 performers in those races than STS beat in his career.
|
|
By:
mick kinane said sts was the best! he rode the bloody things- i think he'd have a better idea than k.abdulla in all fairness
|
|
By:
Although Frankel is always accompanied by hype, it's deservedly warranted in this case. I've no doubt at all he would beat STS (one of the greats without question) over a mile and next year may provide answers to could he beat him over 10f. Personally I think he would have and it would not surprise me if he remained unbeaten. God knows what AOB would say about Frankel if he trained him.
|
|
By:
Yes, lets not go knocking STS he was a very very good horse. Just because Tai is confusing form with, um, um, form.
And Frankel still has it to prove. Exciting times for us flat boys. Let us enjoy it while we can. |
|
By:
frankel beat the worst bunch of horses ever to run in a guineas, thats the only reason it looked good

Taipan
You are Joe Pasquale in disguise............ Over 1m Frankel is the greatest of all time, simply awesome, live with it fella and go eat some very large humble pie...... you'll feel better in the morning!!! Herb |
|
By:
It's a good job he battered them into oblivion then.
|
|
By:
Tai ffs stop digging, we'll lose sight of you. And MK is bound to say that he gets a stud nomination and whatever he says adds value.
|

By:
herblington= hasbt a fooking clue what he's talking about- at least the others can say something ,even if completely unfounded-you my friend say nothing
|

Look on the bright side Taipan, right or wrong on this subject,Herbie couldnt tip a wheelbarrow.
Btw anyone who saw STS in the flesh winning his Arc would not be saying he was just a good horse,he was the best Arc winner I have seen. |

and i'm about to prove you rite rscaughtboy[;)]

Dancing Brave and Peintre Celebre might have something to say about that |

1st Sea the Stars. Never seen again.
2nd. Youmzain. 6 runs 6 losses. 3rd Cavalryman. 12 runs 12 losses. Worst Arc in living memory. |

In form it is usual that the horse winning that years classics/gp1's will beat that years winners of other races. It is as time unfolds we see the merits.
Zarkava is a smashing example, unbeaten champion 2yo, unbeaten champion 3yo, winning her triple crown of guineas, oaks and arc. One of her many vanquished, twice, was Goldikova. Sadly, everything we have subsequently seen of the STS form has been negative, unless you consider Fame and Glory's Ascot Gold Cup to be a boost. Rip Van Winkle, Mastercraftsman and Delegator are not a badge of honour. I remain to be convinced Frankel is worth 142, although I suspect he has beaten some very good horses. As time unfolds we will have a better guide, but if you are going to pronounce any horse as a superstar of the turf, then by definition you are saying his/her 1 or 2 or 4 lengths inferior are almost as good as any horse who ever raced. An interesting thought. |
|
By:
Brigust1,
Come on now! STS did wonders to win that Arc considering the early bother he got himself into, how hard he pulled and how much he had to make up in the straight - and he still won impressively! Great horses aren't just assessed on what they beat but also HOW they win. |
|
By:
Exactly Evgenykissin (strange name). If you read what I said earlier you will see I agree but Tai just keeps throwing up facts. Sadly no-one knows how good STS was because the owner took the money and ran. And I suppose you cannot blame him but it does leave a load of unanswered questions. You cannot say about STS 'It was the way he won' then knock Frankel.
Thankfully it looks like Frankel is going to stand up and be counted next season. |
