Well spotted Figgis.  I had to look up Rainbow View and her form figures and races run in are almost I identical to Inspiral's.
From John Gosden's comment if it is a cold winter and she isn't ready to run in a trial, she might need the race in the Guineas.  I personally don't believe this stuff about climate emergency and the Arctic "overheating" so a cold winter is a possibility imo.

Ballydoyle have central heating so I expect a nicely tanned 'Tennebrism' to turn up trained to the minute ready to run for her life by the master trainer. I may be wrong but todays win by the 2022 1000 Guineas favourite was just not inspiring as the opposition was moderate imho. The lads may not go to the Breeders according to the maestro and she has every chance of getting the mile on her dams side. No fear of of cold or draughts in Tipperary.

Well I am sitting on a William Hills voucher saying 33/1 Inspiral for the 1000 Guineas and a B365 one for 16/1.

She has now won with a bit of give as well as good to firm, and is a course and distance winner with plenty of scope, she has been brought through expertly and if not fantastically exciting, has seemingly outclassed all her rivals to date. She seems to have every chance of progressing and would seem to be a legitimate favourite. Although some of the ones she has trounced may not be much good, they cannot all be useless.

Not sure Rainbow View’s past record has anything at all to do with Inspiral’s chances personally.

Would I back Inspiral at 3/1? Nope. But I am not laying off either.

I mean Rainbow View was a good 2yo, although a bit overrated, trained for the Guineas when she wasn't quite fast enough for it. Was then aimed at the Oaks but disappointed. I can see similar happening here. I would be more interested in Inspiral if she was going to be trained specifically for the Oaks, but in these circumstances I'll pass.

There is no certainty that Inspiral will stay 12 furlongs figgis. Mind you I have a small bet in her at 16s for that too.

I tried to get odds about Inspiral doing the Guineas Oaks double without success.

Inspiral was cantering all over those fillies on Friday after 6 and 7 furlongs. Her natural pace is going to make her very effective at a mile and maybe 10 furlongs.

Not sure why you have taken against Inspiral?

Unbeaten in 4 runs.
A group one winner.
Seemingly acts well with give and on fast ground.
Has physical scope to improve.
By the greatest 2000 Guineas winner out of a 1000 Guineas second she is superbly bred and has the best jockey riding her.

What is there not to like about her?

True, I just think if she stays she definitely has enough speed for the Oaks, whereas she'll need to find more for a typical Guineas. That said, I rarely touch ante post now unless it's a double figure price, so wouldn't be backing her for Epsom now even if that was the target.

What is there not to like about her?

At the 33/1 you've got? Nothing. At 3/1? There's plenty.

.what a run from Limiti di Greccio today in the Staffordstown Stud stakes at The Curragh over a mile.. boxed in all the way and surely value for 5 lengths...  I think this makes Panama Red one of the best Irish fillies, leaving Tenebrism out of it...  Moyglare Stud form let down again, as usual a race always over rated..

.. I don't know if the jockey got a suspension because he hampered O'Brien's Lullaby.  Perhaps they're more lenient in Ireland, I feel sure he'd be suspended over here, maybe 4 days..  anyone else see it?...

I read what O'Brien said after the Cheveley Park, he was saying he had her down to run over 7f and she may get a mile. I reckoned this was probably just wishful thinking on his part. However I saw what he said after her debut win over 5f in May, and even back then, without prompting, he mentioned a mile as being a possibility. So it does seem as though running her in the Guineas would be more than just a long shot punt. To put her Cheveley Park win into context I have the second filly, Flotus, running a couple of pounds faster than Inspiral ever has. On ability alone I have Tenebrism already good enough to have taken eight of the last ten Guineas. The two she wouldn't have won were won by O'Brien fillies.

So of the two at the head of the betting I have the fav an obvious stayer but needing to improve unless it's a substandard renewal. I have the second fav already good enough but a doubtful stayer. For a bet I will be waiting until next year, but on the balance of things as they stand my choice at the moment is definitely Tenebrism.

I think that Cheveley Park form is suspect, and I don't fancy the winner over a mile at all... even though the time was quicker than the Middle Park, they raced up the rail with advantage.. over the fillies drawn wider.. no way should Flotus have finished in front of Sandrine like that..

O'Brien's mile filly seems to be History, as it was entered in the Marcel Boussac and only withdrawn late on.. forget the reason.. beaten by Limiti di Greccio last time..

I'm amazed at the Irish Stewards, what race were they looking at..?

302B Staffordstown Stud Stakes
The Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Lullaby, ridden by J.A. Heffernan and She's Trouble, ridden by K.J. Manning, where it appeared that both horses checked. Having viewed a recording of the incident, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

..the minor incident with She's Trouble came further back as she was weakening out of it and got squeezed out by other horses.. she finished last..  Lullaby was not involved... although they raced upsides earlier I can't see they had any contact at all.

..the incident with Lullaby came just over 1f out when the winner crossed in front of her... yet nothing was said..

..race here on youtube RacingTv if anyone wants to see it..

In case anyone missed the widely reported update on Inspiral a few days ago...

Star filly Inspiral is reported to have wintered well as she continues her preparations for a tilt at the Qipco 1000 Guineas in the spring. The Cheveley Park Stud-owned daughter of Frankel is a best-priced 3/1 favourite for the first fillies’ Classic of the season after winning each of her four starts as a two-year-old. She is already proven over the Rowley Mile, having rounded off her juvenile campaign with a Group 1 victory in the Fillies’ Mile in October. Cheveley director Richard Thompson will leave the training team of John and Thady Gosden to decide whether Inspiral will take in one of the Guineas trials or head straight to Newmarket on May 1. He said: “Inspiral is in good form and it’s just a question of whether she goes straight to the Guineas or goes for one of the trials beforehand. That is obviously still up in the air, but at the moment all is good and it’s all positive, I believe. We’re on countdown to the Guineas now. It will be totally down to John and Thady to decide what is the best route to take.”

There are 51 entries for the 1000 Guineas, including market leaders Inspiral (OR 115) and Tenebrism (OR 115).
Andre Fabre has entered his Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Zellie (OR 113) and also Gr.3 winner Fleur D'Iris, but sadly not Raclette (reportedly one of the best fillies he has ever trained). It seems quite likely that Raclette will instead be aimed at the French Guineas, if she is forward enough to make a good impression in a trial race beforehand.
At this stage I'm sticking with Zellie and Discoveries (OR 111), both Gr.1 winners that are rated just 2lbs and 4lbs respectively behind the market leaders, only because Inspiral is too short a price and Tenebrism is a doubtful stayer.
By:

When: 05 Mar 22 19:30
A change of plan then, it seems, for the Fabre fillies, though there's always the possibility that Raclette could be supplemented.

Here's the report from last October after the Boussac:

Zellie has the French 1000 Guineas, the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, as her early-season target next year – after she signed off her juvenile campaign with victory in Sunday’s Prix Marcel Boussac at Paris Longchamp. The daughter of Wootton Bassett made light of the heavy ground to beat Times Square by a length and three-quarters in the Group One over a mile. It was her fourth win, to add to two second places from six starts. “She has come out of the race very well,” said Fabre. “She is finished for the season – she will go for the French Guineas, for sure.”

Raclette, who was a late withdrawal from the same race at the weekend because of the testing conditions, has also been put away for the winter and will then be trained for either the English or French 1000 Guineas. Fabre shelved plans to reroute the Frankel filly to Newmarket on Friday for the Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes, after bad weather prevented her from having a workout over the weekend. “She was supposed to work on Sunday,” he said. “But there was a storm in Chantilly, and I couldn’t work her, so I decided not to run her at Newmarket. She is done for the season. One of the Guineas, the French or the English, will be her first target. Then we will see. She will probably get further.”

Tenebrism reportedly worked well in a gallop after racing at the Curragh yesterday and will go straight to the Guineas:
"Tenebrism worked very well, Ryan was very happy with her. They went a strong seven (furlongs) and she came home very well. Concert Hall and History were in the same group and came up just behind Tenebrism. Tenebrism will go straight for the Guineas.”

No such news about Tuesday (once-raced maiden, short-head second to Discoveries last season), who is now as short as 8/1 for the Guineas. Lacking in experience, she will presumably be given a race or two (a maiden race and/or Guineas trial) in the near future if they feel she's ready for a tilt at the Guineas.

I hadn't even clocked that Tuesday was running at Naas today... Laugh Clearly a pipe-opener for a filly they hope will have classic races on her agenda. She did it well, but the form isn't worth much (the third is only rated 84). O'Brien more or less ruled out a trip to Newmarket for the Guineas: "She’s a lovely filly. I’m very happy with her and she’ll have no problem staying further. We’ll go gently with her and see how she is and how much she comes on. I doubt if she will go to Newmarket for the 1000 Guineas. It will probably come too quick for her. She could be an Irish Guineas filly that will get further than a mile."
So we're quite likely to see her in a Guineas trial, then the Irish Guineas and maybe the Oaks. The trainer is adamant that the filly will get further than a mile.

As expected, Raclette features among the 16 entries for the Prix de la Grotte on 17 April, traditional prep race for the French Guineas. As it's only two weeks before the 1000 Guineas, it's highly unlikely that she would run at Newmarket in preference to the French Guineas. She's also entered in the Prix Vanteaux over 9f on 10 April, but that would be a highly unorthodox route to the Guineas!

There has been a big antepost move for Contarelli Chapel ahead of her long-awaited reappearance in the Guineas trial at Leopardstown this afternoon: she's now a general 12/1 - 14/1 chance for the Guineas from much bigger prices. To be honest, I wasn't aware that she had recovered (or would ever recover) from the injury that has kept her off the track for nearly a year. She looked hugely promising on her winning debut last May (see the opening post in this thread) but was then turned over at long odds-on on her next start and has been off the radar ever since. Fascinating to see how she goes today. On bare form she has a lot to find to beat the likes of Sacred Bridge (OR 111) and Agartha (OR 109). Agartha was beaten 5 lengths by Zellie on her final start last season (on heavy ground), but would have an excellent chance on her win in the Gr.2 Debutante Stakes and her close second to Discoveries in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes. Sacred Bridge was a high class 6f performer last year (very impressive in a Gr.3 at the Curragh but then disappointed when favourite for the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes), so it will be interesting to see how she gets on today - she should get the 7f trip fine on good ground. The quite lightly raced Homeless Songs, who beat Agartha on debut, and the progressive Panama Red may have more to offer.
By:
impossible123
When: 02 Apr 22 15:26
I think Sacred Bridge was given an injudicious ride; her pilot was not riding her with confidence to stay the trip. Gosden or AOB,

The winner is still in her box; Gosden or AOB? That's the $64k question; another 4 weeks and the answer will be revealed.
By:

When: 02 Apr 22 15:33
Contarelli Chapel, very weak in the market, was clearly very fresh today and folded tamely (finished last). One imagines that the move for her in the Guineas market was simply evasive action by the bookmakers rather than any actual money for her.
It was good to see a bit of a boost for the Moyglare Stud Stakes form - today's winner Homeless Songs and runner-up Agartha had both finished behind Discoveries last season. The result also paid a compliment to Zellie, who beat Agartha by 5 lengths in the Prix Marcel Boussac (perhaps a bit below her best on that occasion). The winner is starting to realise some of the considerable promise she showed on her winning debut last year and will be worth her place in the Guineas line-up (either at Newmarket or the Curragh). Agartha ran her usual honest race and may just have needed the outing.
By:
.Marksman.
When: 02 Apr 22 16:15
Homeless Songs was strongest at the finish suggesting that the extra furlong of one of the 1000 Guineas races will be ideal.  The time was 1.10 seconds faster than the colts race which is another positive.

I will be very surprised if Inspiral does not win the 1000G. I just don't think there is anything about that will challenge her. Gosden sure to have her spot on for the big day. I hope Zellie or Malavath come over for the gig to lend more interest to the race. I like the Graffard filly as an each way poke but not sure if either of them will come over.

Malavath goes this week in the french guineas trial and according to her trainer is slightly worried about soft ground for his charge. Will go for the french or english guineas after this assignment but looking into his comments would be surprising if she doesn't come to Newmarket for the better ground.
By:
jamesp
When: 05 Apr 22 18:08
Yes, Malavath was progressive last year and looks one of the dangers to likely warm favourite Zellie in the Prix Imprudence on Thursday. Zellie holds Who Knows and Fleur D'Iris on last season's Prix Marcel Boussac form, which looks quite a bit stronger than Malavath's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies form (where only a length covered the first four home). On a line of form involving Oscula and Cachet (just behind Malavath at Del Mar), Zellie appears to have a few pounds in hand and she should take this trial if she's sharp enough over the 7f trip and straight enough on her reappearance. Olivier Peslier is an interesting jockey booking for Zellie: he didn't ride her last year, but one imagines that he's being given a chance to get to know the filly ahead of a likely tilt at the Guineas.

Backed Zain Claudette for this @176,on here, not much
available though. She is being aimed for the Nell Gwyn apparently,
whether she runs is another matter.
Willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for her Nmkt run.
She's a better horse than Sandrine in my view and should've
finnished at least where she did.Sandrine's around 30s on here
& Hello You who was behind in the Lowther is also much shorter.
She may well be not good enough but those odds are way out of line
on the book.

Zain Claudette's Lowther form must give her some sort of chance, provided she gets the mile. She was being aimed at the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies (over a sharp turning mile) but was taken out because the trainer wasn't happy with how the filly had been working in the build-up to the race. She finished strongly over 6f in her two Group race successes last term and she should get at least 7f. Her Cheveley Park performance was very disappointing for whatever reason (trainer blamed the good to firm going, but maybe she was just over the top for the season) and it would be unusual for a filly to come back from that kind of performance (beaten nearly 10 lengths) to win a 1000 Guineas. We'll find out today whether she's been entered for the Nell Gwyn.

not a fan of Monsieur Peslier, jamesp. Good reports from Jessie at her open day regarding Discoveries. Dry ground needed firmer the better

I agree about Peslier (more misjudgements and hard luck stories than successes over the Rowley Mile), but at least he should have learnt from the filly's performances last season that she can't be asked to make up 10 lengths in the final furlong. (Let's hope so anyway.)

Yes, it was an upbeat bulletin from Jessie Harrington about Discoveries. Here's the quote, for anyone who missed it earlier in the week:

“All being well she goes to the English Guineas, that’s the plan at the minute, provided the ground is fast,” said Harrington. “I won’t run her unless the ground is quick. She’s like her sister, she doesn’t like slow ground, and the quicker the ground the better she goes. She’s done well over the winter and I’m happy with her. The family all got a mile and her half-sister, Alpine Star, got a mile-and-a-quarter, so you’d imagine she’ll get a mile perfect. Her work is pleasing and we might as well try and go to Newmarket, if the ground is soft that’s that and we can then go to the Curragh. We’ll just have to see what happens. I’m not going to make the same mistake I made with Alpha [Centauri], running her on soft ground and then realising she couldn’t walk on it. Discoveries is the same, she struggled on yielding ground.”

There are 14 entries for the Nell Gwyn Stakes next Tuesday. Most of the entries are experienced (5+ races last year) and exposed as being well below classic standard. Top rated are Wild Beauty (OR 111), Cachet (OR 109) and Hello You (OR 108). Perhaps the most interesting of the lightly raced types is Aidan O'Brien's Toy, a beaten odds-on favourite when runner-up in a 19 runner maiden on her recent reappearance at the Curragh: she's a full sister to Gleneagles, Marvellous, Happily and Joan Of Arc, and is sure to have a lot more to offer.
