No doubt in my mind that number increases the more testing the ground. How much do those recent numbers correlate with the current watering policy,If at all? The Championship and Novice races have remained pretty much the same over many years. For me,its the Handicap systems,on both sides of the water, that need looking at. The very fact Irish horses are penalised when they come over, surely needs sorting out. The impression that gives Racing in general, remains so short sighted. Imagine explaining this system to inexperienced race-goers,beyond belief really. I,m not just talking about the ones that come over with a stone in hand. How many have been running on merit, and are unfairly hit with a raised mark by our handicapper? So how do we move forward,or is everyone happy with the current arrangements? I love trying to solve the those handicaps puzzles, like many do. At the moment, allied to gross multiples entries, they are bordering on virtually impossible,Imo. Any views always welcomed. GL today everyone. |

Great weekends racing. How many of those Irish winners at the festival will be trained by Mullins, double digits? The talent that goes through his stable is never ending. |

Some Interesting ante-post shouts gents,I can sense those cogs turning quietly in the background.
Alan King .....Decent flat trainer, with the odd jumper in the yard ? Still waking with cold shivers, thinking about that Koral Cup ![]() The first possible has entered the ring, needs an entry and softer the better. Could be 0.1pt on all 26 runners this year, cheaper than previous seasons ![]() Might not be in the spirit, but this cannot continue. So it begins. |

Evening Penzance
Not been posting this season, did put a call out for him a few months back, hoping he was safe. Last season he was getting shut down on a few accounts, not sure if thats connected. Might be on social media .... Connor Byrne. Messaged him on his own website a few years back, that was how I met him. Tremendous punter, great sense of humour, helped me out enormously. Whenever I lost the plot, not uncommon a few years back, invariably it was Connor I would turn to. So I,m probably biased in many ways. I hope he,s well and enjoying life. Inspirational guy who has been sorely missed this season. |

Close again Gents,2nd,3rd and 4th between you in a tough handicap.
Not always about the final result, fine shouts once again. Some ride on the winner, lost an Iron and still galvanised him after the last. Superb piece of horsemanship, struggle to see a better ride all season, top quality that guy. |

Wish I could have your positive attitude noc !
Forgive me if I don't share your view that's it's ' not always about the final result ' I bet to win money. I could congratulate connections of a horse that beat mine. But it doesn't ' pay the bills ' ![]() |

14th March 2019 .... Ryanair Chase
As they crossed the line, with the media going wild, somebody posted on here. It was saying how wonderful that result was for racing, and the pilot. I was sat there, with a fair few tokens on Aso,at all rates, well above the 33/1 sp return. I said nothing. To this day,I know I was on the right horse, the final result does not always reflect that. That was my thinking. |
