1992 last time the Champagne winner
went on to win the 2000G. Shame he went wrong at NMT would've told us more about him. |

Many thanks for intel. Really fancied EMOTIONLESS to put it up to AFB in Dewhurst, and his injury was the other half of the story as to why AFB won well. Glad to get something positive to read on EMOTIONLESS, and hopefully this hots up the market, and he ends up in a trial to test his recovery. |

rboyd86;have followed this thread with interest and felt I should give u a reply.there are a lot of doubters on this thread who are questioning the validity/honesty as to emotionless's wellbeing. I can categorically tell u that the minor op he had at equine hospital in woodditton in October to remove a very minor chip was 100% satisfactory.and he was back with Charlie Appleby before xmas and he is 101% perfect.he is in slow work as are most 3yr olds and upwards and have been for 2/3 wks now.the vibes from yard are very very good but obviously he won,t be in fast fast work for perhaps another 3 wks.i live in Newmarket and the word around town is that he is still the real deal and most people I know have been backing him at 14 and 16/1 for the gns whether he is good enough to beat afb only time will tell.but at 14/1 the reward outweighs the risk imo.

Good to know Emotionless is doing fine - its well-being is of utmost importance - making the 2000G a bonus, if so.
Thanks to 'RBoy86' and 'flash bookie' for the info. |

A similar scenario will arise if what's happened to Faugheen today replicates itself here, but hope not - I do want the best horses running in the best races every time and at all times whenever possible.

Appleby said: "Some people have questioned the level of his Champagne Stakes form but it's unusual for a horse to win a Group 2 quite so easily and then not go on to prove itself a genuine Group 1 performer.
"[Favourite] Air Force Blue was obviously very impressive in the Dubai Dewhurst but he's already been beaten once, so he's not unbeatable." 'He is progressing weekly' Appleby, who has also entered Folkswood at Newmarket, reports Emotionless to have "wintered very well" and believes what he achieved last season was a "bonus". Appleby said: "Emotionless is in full work and is progressing weekly. He is coming on at such a pace that we could tip-toe him towards a Guineas trial but it wouldn't worry me if he goes straight for the Guineas as he is the type of horse that I know I can get fit at home. "He's a big individual who had plenty of scope to fill out and that's exactly what he's done - he's wintered very well. I always said that anything he achieved as a two-year-old would be a bonus." |

Thanks for the above info especially the bit about tip-toeing Emotionless towards a Guineas Trial but it wouldn't worry the trainer if Emotionless goes straight for the Guineas. Appleby said: "Emotionless is in full work and is progressing weekly." That is music to my ears, and I agree with the trainer that it is unusual for a horse to win a Group 2 quite so easily and then not go on to prove itself a genuine Group 1 performer Emotionless was visually impressive when beating Ibn Malik in the Champagne Stakes. |

He's a group 1 horse theres no doubt about it. No worries glad i could start it, and flashbookie could put bit more info too it.

Any more news on Emotionless? Is it flying on the gallops?
|
|
By:
This is being backed: now it is only 11 here, generally 12/1 with on street bookies. Does anyone know if it is flying on the gallops?
|

Now drifting 14.5 here

Would be no surprise if he doesn't even make the race? They don't have a great record in the 2000gns for getting them ready in many a year now. Even if he does, & I hope for punters sakes he does make it, he won't beat AFB imo, he looks the real deal imo. Time will tell.
|
|
By:
According to its trainer not so long ago he said Emotionless was progressing well and would not need to be rushed to make the race. He could also go to headquarters without a run.
Hopefully, more will be known when the trials for the Guineas begin in earnest. |

The Godolphin-owned colt looked an exciting prospect when winning the Group Two Champagne Stakes at Doncaster in September but then disappointed in the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket the following month.
Routine checks the following day revealed he had a chip on his left fore knee which required surgery. John Ferguson, Godolphin's chief executive and racing manager, revealed the son of Shamardal had recovered well from the operation and continued to make good progress. Profiles Emotionless C Appleby "He's stronger than ever," Ferguson told www.godolphin.com. "We have taken the view that he will not need a prep race before the Guineas. "It's always a worry when horses have surgery but from the moment he came back into training, he has been moving like a bird." Emotionless' trainer Charlie Appleby added: "He's been training well, and I couldn't be happier with him. "Physically, he's done well over the winter." |

burantino on the move 25 into general 16 now
|

By:
Not a total surprise as Buratino had beaten AFB before until the ground intervened; it also ran Shalaa to within a length over 6f something no other horse had done. It's 23 here, but no money for Hit A Bomb, Blue Vega, Royal Artillery, Marcel, etc.

I was at newmarket for the dewhurst and had £80 on emotionless, unfortunately chipped a bone during race (for my wallet) but i saw ryan moore dismount air force blue after the race and im not claiming to be the greatest lip reader in the world but he said "WOW" and was shaking his head with a smile to AOB...you just know that this thing is the real deal...from what i saw im convinced the field are running for second place only.
|
|
By:
AFB is undoubtedly the deserved 'fav' but at evens is not a betting proposition for most; Buratino represents value given his win over AFB in the Coventry (firm), excellent 2nd to Shalaa (good), and a credible 3rd (soft) when 'fav' behind AFB in unsuitable ground.
Any update on Round Two anyone, the talented Jim Bolger juvenile? No news since the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. |
|
By:
The ground was not soft at the Curragh when Buratino finished third in the Phoenix behind AFB. It was officially described as good and the race times also back this up as does the visual impression.
AFB breezed past Buratino who was much more experienced and there are no excuses for his defeat, imo. He is also a small horse unlike AFB who is a fine specimen so I would expect AFB to find the greater improvement this year. |
|
By:
Jack Bauer
I do not disagree "AFB did breeze past Buratino" in the Pheonix but I beg to differ on the going - it was described as "tacky/loose" by the trainer of the latter; AFB has improved nonetheless the tacky/loose ground could have exaggerated his performance against Buratino in the Pheonix - Buratino did "breeze" past AFB in the Coventry on good to firm going too; AFB (4/6) looked visually impressive in the Dewhurst but Emotionless (7/4) was injured in that race, and the 2nd and 3rd were not G1 horses in my opinion. No worries we'll soon find out how good AFB is in the 2000G at the end of the month. |
|
By:
I don't believe there should have been any excuses due to the ground. Connections will often look for excuses when a horse is simply beaten on merit. AFB potentially looks like a very good horse to me and I will be very surprised if Buratino is as good as him this year if both have trained on and improved as expected.
|
|
By:
Buratino was a far more experienced horse in the Coventry. AFB had one debut win at the Curragh where he made all the running and was still quite green at Ascot. It was only on his third run in the Phoenix where he began to show his true ability. Buratino had already had five runs before the Phoenix.
|
|
By:
If the ground came up fast, I would give Buratino an ew chance, he was a gd 2yo, but he lacks the scope of a gd few of these imo.

Emotionless is having a racecourse gallop at Newmarket on wednesday.

By:
I have layed AIR FORCE BLUE to my eyeballs. No antepost fav should be evens for a field so wide and packed with unproven stars. More importantly AFB doesn't handle soft ground so well worth a lay when those factors are considered.
|
|
By:
Doesnt handle soft? news to me, good luck with your laying of it considering AOB says its the best juvenile hes ever trained mate, i appreciate this forum is all about peoples views however, i just think when you have a stand out form horse/ favourite, people are always going to look for "value" , i saw it win the dewhurst and saw ryan moores reaction ...this thing is the real deal.
