ffs- have to disagree slightly- Atzeni's ride from the draw and positioning was smart but Treve sauntered home, and I don't rate this year's crop of colts unfortunately. On a line through Epicuris I would think Criquette will be thinking of how far.

What does everyone think about Flintshire's chance?
By:
pete are you on line tonight got a rag you might be interested in laying...easy money!!
By:
Madhu - with respect, Treve got a dream trip round last year - KH burned a lot of energy getting across and in the circumstances he really did well.
By:
I just think Treve was a superstar 3yo, but she's regressed WFA, which is totally unsurprising given how good she was at 3yo
By:
Vermeille will be awfully insightful, as Found will come on a ton for her last run, she was just about ready for a gallop the last day and is a lot stronger than early in the season. The ease underfoot is much to her liking also.
By:
Jack Hobbs trimmed after simply beating inferior horses in the style that was expected of him. Nothing new learned thanks to the slow early pace, which was always likely at Kempton. I reckon he'd need to improve 5lbs on his previous form to run Treve close on wfa terms, and while it's still possible he might've improved by that much after his break I won't be taking current odds to find out.
By:
nice prep for jack hobbs considering no pace...should put him spot on for longchamp, he will like the cut in the ground if we get it, he hasn't had his ground all season in the big races and should bring about considerable improvement so i'm looking at him positively for the race
figgis what price do you make him? i thought he was over priced before the prep myself considering the horses in opposition so considering you don't think he deserved to be cut, what price would you put him at? |
By:
Harry, personally I wouldn't back him at under a double figure price. I was hoping, admittedly against the odds, that we'd get a decent pace today and he'd put up a Sinndar Prix Niel type improved showing, in which case I'd have backed him at short odds. So while it would be no surprise to see him win, at the moment I'd still rather side with the 2/1 Treve.
By:
so would you put him in the same bracket as the ridiculously priced new bay then? because if you are you must make treve a very short price?
By:
Harry, as I said before, taking 2/1 ante post on Treve isn't my kind of bet, but if she comes through her trial well, not necessarily having to win it, and is available at 2/1 nearer the day I will probably back her unless something else impresses me in a trial. As for New Bay, I think his bare form leaves him with a lot to find, but it's still possible he's better than the bare form so I'm keeping an open mind about him until after the trials.

By:
Forecast looking good for the next 4 weeks, (also btw for Dublin), going to throw my hat in the ring on a Golden Horn double, Irish Champion and Arc.
By:
going to keep Found a big positive through the Vermeille. She could win that race with likely improvement from her last run.
By:
Is she a definite runner in the Vermeille...
By:
Entered in the matron at leopardstown (over a mile) at the weekend. Assume she'll be going to Longchamp instead though, anyone got entries for there?
By:
AO'B did seem keen to run her in the Vermeille, as opposed to the Irish Champion, no mention of the Matron.
By:
And, she is entered, but just as a block-booking as per usual, even Tapestry in there. Though forfeit I think tomorrow morning.
By:
Obv Legatissimo is a strong runner in the Matron, but more than that, the sense Found would find more at 10 and 12f
By:
Pricewise has tipped Found.

By:
That's another one down the gurgler!
![]() |
By:
Had a nibble on Karaktar at 85 last week assuming he would run in one of the Arc trials - from what I can see he isn't entered on Sunday.
![]() |
By:
He's in the Niel, unc. We'll know more tomorrow.
By:
Tapestry, Wedding Vow, DiamondsandRubies left in the Vermeille - pretty sure Found is going to run somewhere else - that man AO'B would drive you insane.
By:
might not bode well for Gleneagles ?
By:
Disappointed to see Found not in one of the trials but market seems to suggest Arc is still the plan.
I'll be looking out for a price on Treve to win the Vermeille and Arc. Anything over 3/1 ![]() |
By:
Maybe the Blandford Stakes (G2/10f) at the Curragh on Sunday will be her prep race, probably better than travelling all the way down to Longchamp and back. It would have been good to see her run over 12f but it's probably better for her to stay at home!
By:
yes, it is a bit disappointing - when AO'B gave his thoughts he was very forward in mentioning the Vermeille and the Arc as the plan. I think it's fairly certain the Arc is intact, but ofc the Champion Stakes is a big race and with some rain about she could be their no1 - that's definitely the way I think she'll go. It was put to AO'B but he said if it came up soft they had Highland Reel, so wouldn't be diverting Found from the Vermeille - leaves open that Highland Reel will go for the Niel !? ...
Best thing about it anyway is that she's been to Longchamp and handled it brilliantly. |
By:
I suppose Mr. D, the Blandford is an option, and logical progression ... and ofc save the travel and maybe get a bloodless win to keep the momentum, rather than pitching in against Arabian Queen and Treve etc..
Otoh, Maybe they're taking Arabian Queen's run in the International and saying Found should win the Champ ? |
By:
Found declared for the Irish Champion Stakes. Bit surprised with that move but it looks like she might be the back up for Coolmoore if it rains heavy and Gleneagles is pulled out. Still a good prep race if the rain doesn't arrive IMO.
By:
Yep, kind of a no lose situation really...if she finishes 2nd or 3rd it will be considered a good prep for the Arc against the colts..she'd handle the going real well too if it gets soft.
By:
Be a tough race though only 3 weeks before.
Going to have a bit of sea calisi today. Bold showing in the trial and they surely supplement. |
By:
How could Legatissimo not feature in the Arc !? Had nothing but a breeze today and looks better with every race (Dam a sister to Fame and Glory)
By:
Agreed ffs - can she be supplemented?
By:
Agree, Legatissimo was very impressive again. I think ground conditions will be the key on whether Coolmoore would supplement or not. She has so much natural speed Soft or Heavy ground would be a big negative but if it's good/quick ground well worth a go... she nearly won an Oaks.
Found ran well today but the run didn't fill me with massive confidence for the Arc. She was travelling well into the straight but didn't seem to pick up as well as I thought she would. Maybe there is a bit more to come, it was a solid run from her. Tomorrow's trials at Longchamp will be an interesting watch. Very much with you Benjy regarding Sea Calisi but wouldn't be surprised if she ended up going for the Breeders Cup Fillies and Mares turf... we shall see! |
By:
She's ENTERED !!!
By:
sorry .. to be clear, Legatissimo is ENTERED in the Prix de l'Arc and been kept through the forfeits ...
She handles the ground - that was thought of her when she got beaten early in the year (though it turned out the ground was very heavy) - and to me she's absolutely thriving on her racing - and I can't see how she could get a better prep than today because she just breezed that field. |

Spot on ffs!
I think over 12f she will be vulnerable to a proper stayer on Soft/Heavy, not questioning her ability on a softer surface. ![]() O'Brien pleased with Found, Arc still the plan and said step up to 12f a plus. I hope so! |
By:
Yes, Mr D.
AO'B seems very keen to go back to Longchamp. |
By:
Market doesn't seem to have reacted to the Johnny Gee bombshell today.
Tbf...the press room was asleep too, as always. |
