Has this got an "official" thread yet? I can't see one.

Treve to get  Triple Crown of Arcs?

Golden Horn to stamp the 3yo form?

Jack Hobbs - Allweather / handicapper to all-conquering hero?

Someone say something sensible, before I get carried away.

It'll have been a long season for Legatissimo and Found has yet to get her head in front. Also it's not a race Coolmore ever really target (with the Champ stks being more commercial, arguably). If they were to turn up in top form though you'd have to take them very seriously.

I'd be sending him. Not sure if they will though. Longchamp in October likely to have some cut though.

Think this race has a lot more 'development' in it. Trial races next month will tell us more I guess but at this stage it's hard to even know what will turn up other than the fav.

Godsen said the other day ,its irish champion and then ARC ,and the reason he's going irish champion is because they d'ont want to go to longchamp with such a gap ,so it looks like the plan ,plus if they are going to retire him after it ,you would presume they would roll the dice either way .I think the reason for all this ground play is that they d'ont want to bottom the horse's now ,with so many big races now at the end of the season .

Found will win the Arc

Can't understand why it's taken them so long to step her up in trip, I see 12f suiting her even better but not seen enough yet to suggest she's up to winning an average Arc.

But it must be pointed out that she has had a light campign ,so they might just be setting her up for a tilt at the arc ,rather than an after taught like usual .Also remembering she was taught of as a derby contender so maybe the lads have seen all these fillies winning the arc of late and taught after her early set back ,they may as well gear her towards it rather than pushing for the classics as is the norm .I think il a few pennys on her.

Yes, fair point. Many a big race has been won by the horse primed to run the best on the day, not necessarily the best horse in the race, including some Arcs.

100% agree with you lingbleed. Especially after she was so impressive there last year.

I honestly can't believe she is 25/1 for what already looks like it might be a sub standard renewal. Think it's a really fantastic price.

Found is being aimed at the Arc, a change in pattern for AO'B and Coolmore, maybe it's the number of top fillies they have, but she won't be going to the Irish Champs Wkend where the Matron Stakes would be an obvious race for her,

She's done very well physically over the break and will come on a lot for what was already a very impressive performance,

Next up, Vs Treve in the Vermeille !

I just detect a confidence about her that's a little unusual, maybe the way she won at Longchamp last yr, which was exceptional

that's the trainer's own plans, not even left to 'the lad's ... first option next is the Vermeille

And yes, it was discussed a lot in this thread last year, specifically wrt Taghrooda, but the Ire/Eng calendar is a lot more demanding than the French and it tells.

Someone very knowledgable said to me today, and I kind of had to agree, that to race our campaign and win an Arc you must be as good as Sea the Stars

Found had her three races, was taken out and freshened up, now three races to win the Arc ... a plan the French follow like religion

The thing that bothers me about found, is AOB not campaigned her like a Classic filly, why would that be? no Oaks,no KG? A strange stable.

But yes ,  you do get that feel for her.

MJ - look at the fillies he has (and Wachman), Legatissimo, Qualify, Wedding Vow, DiamondsandRubies, TogetherForever ...

The one thing AO'B said that really caught my attention was back before the Eng 1000, when he said she had a slight knee action and was the type "you'd like to look forward to all season" - immediately I thought 'Arc', especially with her performance in the Marcel Boussac.

So, she had three races and was taken out of the firing line - as he said himself the plan with her was to run her to Royal Ascot and ease off, then step her up in trip and ... (at this stage I think it's obvious what they're planning!)

I'm gonna check it out now, but I'd say in his 20 odd years with Coolmore he hasn't had a 3yo horse / filly  good enough to win an Arc, and be able to target them at the Arc. (given the Coolmore emphasis on Ire/Gb Classics, and Champion Stakes, QE2 etc..) the Arc has always been an afterthought, and you are just at such a disadvantage compared to those who can take a midseason break and target that one race.

Last year I argued that Taghrooda was a very big chance and there was a lot of stats about how KG winners fared in Arcs of that year, and it wasn't positive for her.

There's absolutely no-one better to target a race and get them spot on for the day than AO'B and if that has been the plan with a filly who a) likes a cut in the ground and b) was rated 117 as a 2yo, beating Ervedya under hands and heels, then wow she has some chance.

Also, she goes to the Vermeille with race-fitness, putting up a very nice display yesterday and sure to come on for it. Every chance she'll beat Treve who is sure to be rusty (as she was last two years, coming on 13 lbs for the Arc proper). Wonder what a serious beating by Found would do to her confidence ? She didn't take a hard defeat from Cirrus very well ..

ffs      - Over the years  I have witnessed many of AOBs  bubble up at Longchamp, they do seem to have problems for one reason and another, but plenty sweat up, that is for sure, admittedly Found had no such problem on last visit. I think you make a good point about her chance and worth a bet at the prices.                           a

MJ - no doubt Treve will be tough, but she's always undercooked in the Vermeille but when Found meets her there is what I'm most interested in - Found looked brilliant at the Curragh, really developed physically and like she'd improve for the run, but all the class is there and was perfectly at home on the soft ground - mentally she looks bombproof

Did Found do anything on Sunday though that suggested she's a better filly than the form she showed when finishing third in the Moyglare? She did travel very well and the way Heffernan held on to her for so long made it look even more impressive when he finally did let her go but I thought her previous best entitled her to win that race well and so did the market.
By:

When: 25 Aug 15 12:07
Yes, she won well and was entitled to, but I think if you look closely at her she's come on physically quite a lot, Answered is a big, solid horse and she was giving nothing away to him - just think the break has brought her on.

Just wondered if Found will definitely run in the Vermille?  this looks like a bookmakers runner in the ARC(could turn up), they have gone too great lengths too cover her up this year, why expose in Vermelle?, otherwise if I had ffs and your view figgis, she would be the bet of the year in the Vermelle and not the ARC? by the way you could very well be correct.

Treve this year looks better than ever, and trained too the minute.

MJ, I won't be backing her against Treve in the Vermeille if she does run. She'll be getting 8lbs but I have her about 21lbs behind on what I've seen, although it's often a slowly run race and tactics can be decisive. I can understand people thinking she might be an improving filly though and taking big prices on her for the Arc in anticipation of a price collapse, but I prefer to see her again.

I don't see Treve as improved this year and I think last year's winning form is beatable. I'm itching to take her on but have yet to see anything I'd bet against her with confidence.

Always felt Found wanted some cut in the ground the way she exploded away from Ervedya in France last year. This performance just confirms it imo.
