When I first read people tipping Sanctuaire I thought they were barking. Having had a proper look rather than dismiss him out of hand I think he can cause an upset. His course form certainly makes the race interesting.

Well i aint tipping him,and i certainly aint dismissing him either.
His course form does indeed make the race interesting,at least before hand.
Tomorrow we will find out if the race is interesting after the start!!
Certainly hope so.

Not only will Sprinter win. But I can't see he coming off the bridle. Geraghty will do his usual look around as Sprinter jumps the last.

He will stop to write an update to his blog, also send a few tweets. Then they'll come home at a common canter backwards across the line.

i will have my camera mate, that should make a good photo, backward finish.

Gonna get close up to the open ditch by the stands, hopefully get a photo of em jumping on the 1st circuit,2nd fence in the race.

Only thing I will say is enjoy tomorrow. We are pretty much having our Champion Chase in December. If Sprinter does win easily the worrying thing is what will be taking him on in future races? A lot have ducked out of this.

yeh,i really hope Sanctuaire can mix it with SS,otherwise as you say it looks desperate for the rest of the season.
We can enjoy watching SS of course, but its much better watching a great horse in competition with others.

in  r.post today an  interesting article on sanctuaire ,they dont school him over fences outdoors !they school him in the indoor barn he goes round and round  in circles jumping anything between 25-40  obstacles  on mondays .it can be a nightmare because he can still behave like a raging lunatic in there !he preety much goes flat out from start to finish .

Good evening fellas. I, like the rest of you cannot wait for the tape to go up tomorrow. Ruby takes off at a pace trying to make every post a winning post. Sprinter coasts along just a half dozen lengths behind , BG quite content to let the headstrong front runner give him a nice lead. Down the far side Ruby takes a look behind and sees no change. A slight mistake from the leader but still no let up in what is now a frantic attempt to put distance between himself and SS. On towrds the Pond and SS begins to appear in the rear view mirror. Ruby kicks again but BG is motionless. Another look from Ruby, but he cannot see SS. Look out Ruby, he is upsides, with BG reading the Moscow Flyer story , full english breakfast in his lap and SS doing the Paso Doble . Cosh out and Sanctuaire gasping for oxygen, the vacuum created by SS as he breezes past causes Ruby to pull out his breathing apparatus and take large gulps to avoid collapsing. SS leaps over the last while Barry wipes the saucy grin from his face with a slice of toasty soda bread. Job done, PN waves the white flag at NH and forumites gather to wax lyrical about what just might be one of the best two mile chasers we have seen. Dont you just love NH racing??????? Magic stuff. Very good EVIL! - we'll see.

The official handicapper has them only 3lbs apart. Sanctuaire has won on the track twice and will be 100% for this. Will the monster? - not sure.

The regard in which they are observed by their trainer's peers may shed some light on the matter. Before the Arkle at preview meetings, Jessie said 'he (BJG) says he's better than Moscow Flyer', Arthur Moore is quoted to have said 'he is probably the best novice chaser I have ever seen'. After the Arkle, Colin Tizzard described the monster as 'a superstar'. Philip Hobbs described him as 'exceptional'. Accolades heaped on Sanctuaire.....well none - but maybe nobody asked!

I am like a child on Christmas Eve!  Still find it hard to believe that Football is more popular! Then again, I am glad our sport is not supported by the masses.

yeah roy it could be but then again it might go something like this .....tapes go up sanctuaire jumps off in front and starts popping away jumping fast and accuratly ruby setting a good pace and barry sitting in behind confidently  going well, after the first few fences little change ,coming to the railway fences sanctuaire is flying them and barry and sprinter are jumping like stags also  but the gap is still the same but barry is happy as he is on the long black aeroplane and he only has to press the button and they take off dont they !
coming to the 2nd last barry looks  down at the full english and is thinking shall i have brown sauce or ketchup then looks up and sees ruby and sanctuaire and they are still 6 to 8 lengths clear and  not stopping ,feck the breakfast says barry ,ill  press the button and let the turbo kick in! barry presses the button and zoom sprinter as expected starts to fly thats better says barry and closes to within 3 lengths of sanctuaire, barry shouts to ruby ill be passing ya now ruby !but ruby presses sanctuaires button and  sanctuaire gains another 2 lengths sprinter trys hard but dont find as much off the bridle as expected and sanctuaire goes on to win by 4 lengths . as the jockeys dismount in the winners enclosure ruby shouts to barry ill buy ya a 3 course meal to make up for missing the full english . good luck to both and lets hope it lives up to the expectation .GrinHappyLaugh

Just to add.... The reason I mentioned the full english was due to the fact that before Moscow won the Champion Chase, BG was sat opposite me in the pub early doors filling his face with just that! Devil

Enjoy budd, I was this close | | to going. But having been to Newbury last weekend and a need to get my christmas shopping done. I shall miss Sprinters facile win and Kumbeshwars decent 2nd place. While total hound Sanctuaire refuses.

cheers Foyles,
looking at the card i dont think i will be punting too heavy mate,be nice to make a profit on the day though.
i might actually skip the race before the TC and go to pre parade ring nice and early and just watch them there, and really soak it up.
Then watch them in the paddock, then i have to see what the bookies are offering, before i try to find a spot to photo them take the open ditch in front of the stands.
Then find a spot to watch the race take shape.

cheers CV,
please dont say that re Sanctuaire, surely he aint going back to his hurdling days, what an anti climax that would be!!
absolutely no problem with SS winning impressively, none at all,but Sanctuaire doing that after all this chat, dont bear thinking about!!!
i know you dont think it will be a race mate, but i am really hoping you are wrong and i witness a race i can tell me grandkids about.
be something that!!

Only funny banter chew know that. Laugh

This is just side picking like Kauto / Denman. No real analysis can be done till we see the race.

Enjoy the day anyway and absolutely pile it on Sam Winner, chucked in off 141 absolutely chucked in. Happy

It's going to be an absolute classic! I do have a soft spot for Sanctuaire and he does owe me an absolute fortune since his Fred Winter win! However, If he repeats his performance from back in April against Somersby and Wishful Thinking I don't think a not 100% fit Sprinter Sacre he will have enough to reel him in.

Barry Gerraghty needs to know how much rope to give Sanctuaire. If he gets behind by over 5lengths at any stage of the race then I believe he's playing a very risky game. Sanctuaire has not come back to his rivals at all in his 2 chase starts. I'd love for Sanctuaire to win tomday, however giving Sprinter Sacre the fright of his life will be enough for me. Any sport needs challenges and as good as Big Bucks is, I'd hate for us to have a dead 2mile chase and 3mile hurdle division this year.

What amazes me is how many of you think that Sprinter is going to turn up not tuned to the minute, its a £70,000 to the winner race and 3 months to Cheltenham. It was also the intention of Henderson to have a prep race before this so he will be fresh as paint and pulling for his head. If Ruby gets the fractions right and Sanctuaire jumps the way he has, I can see him coming out of the Railway fences four lengths to the good, he then fills up Sanctuaires lungs as he by-passes the the pond fence omitted because of the low sun, Barry gets to work to close the gap and its now down to the jumping and Sanctuaire gaining a length over each of the remaining fences as they both stagger side to side up the hill with Ruby standing in the saddle Barzelona like over the line.
