Still in training I believe, lp, but they've gelded him so he's not eligible for the Arc.

Thank you headmaster[ Nathaniel for me now.

I share your concern sint. The dam's side is chocker with speed and sprinters and Deep Impact doesn't look quite sufficient an influence for stamina to make the pedigree a 12 furlong one.
I think she is a cracking filly and when she wins the Frech Oaks she maybe will be given the standard prix Vermeille - Arc prep. I still cannot see her really getting home in an Arc though. |

I could have sworn I saw Baraan's name in the list on Betfair a few weeks ago, so Headmaster's information would explain its withdrawal.
I'd suggest it's probably a wise move with the colt as he has shown quite a bit of temperament already. Is he still the Aga Khan's? I can't remember his owner keeping too many geldings over the years. |
|
By:
Have I missed a meeting recently?
I noticed So You Think is not amongst the Arc runners on Betfair...anyone know why? ![]() |
|
By:
@Foetus - Baraan was in the list. I laid it but asked Betfair to remove the horse after HM's news.
They voided the bet. Pete The Bookie - fair play guaranteed (Bazaar please note). |
|
By:
They voided my bet to m8

NOTED, PETE, things are getting fairer I hope.

Anyone got a site to view todays DANEDREAM win in Germany, please?
|
|
By:
SNA or Camelot.
![]() 7/1 or 3/1. |
|
By:
Won nicely today, didn't he?
(I'll let you guess which I mean, Sint). |
|
By:
![]() Flip of a coin stuff imvho. I'd not bet against either of them winning it. Though, if Camelot is going for the Triple Crown, it is doubtful he will show up in the Arc just two weeks later. |
|
By:
^^^^ Why not ? Alleged and Nijinsky are just two of several that ran in the Leger / Arc
![]() |
|
By:
Yes horses have done it before, but would they want to risk blotting his copybook by going for another big race when he has already secured the Triple Crown? I'd have my doubts tbh
|
|
By:
I've thrown a few quid away on Top Trip @ 190
Finished 5th in the French Derby yesterday after being last turning into the straight. Has won at Longchamp as well which is something I always like. Presumably will run in the Grand Prix De Paris next time. |
|
By:
bazzar...dont have a link but saw it live and Danedream destroyed them.
powered down the middle of the track just like she was doing last year in germany. |
|
By:
The Arc is there for the taking this year. Does not look a vintage renewal.
Camelot clearly could take this race quite easily IMO. Might have a look at the 3/1 on offer now. St Nicholas Abbey is better going the other way around for me and lacks size to really handle a tight rough race such as the Arc. |

Thanks EASTIE.

For Danedreams 20/05/2012 win. |
|
By:
seems like a few of us like nathaniel, but 25-1 does look tempting.
if he wins/runs well in the king george will be single figures. the trouble is ,he seems to need soft ground. |

Thank you TINKLER, I wish my computer knowledge was better, then
I could find these videos myself, have been trying to view DABIRSIM race and MOONLIGHT CLOUD along with WIZZ KID, thank again. |

Danedream was brilliant last year.Frankel is hard to fathom, his debut over a mile on softish ground would have suggested a 12f performer in the making? but then Henry decides to go backwards in trip and show the horses brilliant speed. The Gosden horse that finshed second to frankle on debut was beaten a long way in last years Arc.It aint no science.

May I ask Pete and any other layers why I'm struggling to get a bet on a horse that's only run three times in its life, never in Pattern or Listed company, and has only won once, being beaten the last twice? Hardly screams Pegasus, I'd have thought. Do I have to wait for the books to fill up before I see any action?
Or will a plea like this generate a more accommodating approach? ![]() |
|
By:
Recession? Dunno tbh.
|
|
By:
Ha. Your bets are flagged up in my system Headmaster. Your file is red and has "Lay Carefully"
written across it in big letters. The real answer is probably that you have to wait till the money flows a bit - most layers on here have probably taken less than a grand on the race so far (at a guess). |
|
By:
I thought gambling was recession-proof, sint?
![]() Thought so, Pete. With a few big guns firing Arc warnings of late I was rather hoping layers would see plenty of action at the front end of the market and us flimpers would get done on a rag or two. Not really happened yet, though. Guess we're all waiting for ybm/kirk/eric to take his customary strong position on the fav before this market sparks into life.... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
Heh heh
![]() It's a promising start, to be honest, but I tend to start off slowly because you can't afford to get caught holding a big one at this stage. July's G+E has a nice look about it - I could see the Arc ball rolling after that. |
|
By:
Camelot's still very short for this (in my opinion, at least). He's 4/6 on here for the Leger and about
7/2 for the Arc. It's hard to imagine him running in both and even harder to imagine him winning them both. I don't know which horse will win but I do know that 7/2 is about the price Pour Moi was at this time last year and there's a long time to go. |

As was Workforce after his Derby romp.

Ha. Good point.

Crackerjack King could be a real fly in the ointment in what is now looking an eminently winnable renewal of the Eclipse.
For that reason, I've taken some big prices for the Arc in case he acquits himself well, and is staying on strongly. He looks like he won't be inconvenienced by a longer trip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUVIvd0Mn4k He was a single figure price for last year's French Derby (when trained in Italy) but clearly didn't run his race, and that shocker remains the only blemish for him in 8 outings, though interestingly, it was his only encounter on soft ground. Decent yardsticks like Waldpark & Sri Putra were well behind him on his seasonal debut in an Italian group one, and with St Nicholas Abbey having traded single figures already for this year's race, ANYTHING that wins impressively could be re-laid at a very false, short price. It's a brave man who's laid this creature at 500+ on here ![]() |
|
By:
I'd be cautious. He's not getting any 12f entries, the Aussies have bought into him and the Cox Plate has been mentioned more than once as a target. I've been pretty keen on the 50s knocking around for that race as on rattling ground he'll rip that lot to pieces imo.
|
|
By:
...although if he starts winning top European G1s maybe those plans could change?
|
|
By:
TH - at those prices I've backed him (for a stray tenner) there's a substantial return for a small outlay, on a horse that is an unknown quantity.
I had noticed he's got four entries in group one races which are all over 10f, but I had no idea about the Aussie plans for the Cox Plate. Do you fancy his chances tomorrow? If memory serves, was it you who was keen on this colt before Chantilly LAST YEAR? Just what did you know about Danedream? ![]() I don't think I've read about anyone else singing the praises of this colt, and I think he's well worth a shot at the best European races...we'll see tomorrow. |
|
By:
Yes, I've been a fan for a little while
![]() Ground looks like being the deciding factor to me. It has been good, good to firm, which would have not brought out the best in the front three and helped our lad. Unfortunately, we're now on good to soft at Sandown From what everyone closest to the horse has been saying, that's quite a negative. I'm well involved now anyway and won't be dumping anything......wonder if Ryan might fancy the Notnowcato route? |
|
By:
Richard Hughes tried that earlier on Cai Shen and im not convinced that was the best idea. Maybe the best horse won, Afsare, and boosted the form of Crackerjack, but it didn't look to clever visually.
|
|
By:
great start to the year for nathaniel.
just hope he can stay sound, and we get soft ground. |
|
By:
Slight aftertiming for this thread but I played Nathaniel for this after listening to Gosden's interview pre Eclipse ie better horse in Autumn.
Would like to think this has to be the major target for the season and after today on G/S or worse is going to be hard to beat if he turns up in the form he did today or better |
