I hear what you're saying, sint, and I'd agree in fact.  They're shortest on quite a few and a) they can't have info on all of them and b) they can't all win.

However, I thought it interesting that they have been very keen to lay Power for a while, chasing his price right out tbh.  Then it transpires the horse is/was struggling.  That 8 Nephrite hasn't budged though and I don't think there's been a negative word on him - not quite sure why his price on here got so big?

I backed Nephrite last year at 25s before it beat Born to Sea. Have been clinging on to it still being 8s with Lads - 'clinging' being the key word.

Cannot believe he is being seriously considered - I'm sure something would have come out by now if Coolmore fancied it. Would be more than happy to be proved wrong

I like an antepost bet,and if my selection(S)
does'nt run,fair enough but it would'nt
hurt Coolmore to state who's running where,
with the Guineas 2 weeks away.

Judging by the laying patterns on Born To Sea I think Oxx should be giving out more info also. Anyone think that once Camelot is declared in, then Oxx will declare him out?

coolmore are a disgrace imo, spoilt the racing i loved in 70s through 90s, anyway another dewhurst winner in ektihaam at newbury now,

He has said that the horse is well, he is pleased with him and being aimed at Newmarket. Not really sure why anyone would think that a horse wouldn't run simply because another was - not in a Classic anyway

Top Offer out of the Greenham(ground)

Eric, Oxx said just this week the horse will go straight to Newmarket. I see no reason to doubt his comments tbh.

Cheers HM.

Top Offer not running in the Greenham tomorrow, ground is too Soft.

So, who fancies a once raced maiden winner for the Classic at 5/1 ? Roll-up, Roll-up!

roobuck ... does Oxx want Coolmore to have a dual Classic winner or would he rather they just had a Derby winner? Born To Sea looked really promising before finishing lame but the laying patterns on here are telling me someone knows something not about the horses welfare but about running plans. Hope I'm wrong.

Obviously if declared out there will be a slight injury/bad scope etc etc as per usual.

"He's pleasing me at home but things can change quickly, so fingers crossed" .. mmm some ground work being layed there? The betting patterns look just like this statement so fingers crossed he isnt playing mind games with Balydoyle, straight to the race could be anything bullshoyte.

funny someone willing to lay at around 16 for £ 85 , when only 10was being layed previously

Exactly, it suggests someone is taking your trousers down as they know he wont run but wont clear up thelay side, more made that way. Never trust Irish connections on here they tell you nothing.

Sorry I must just be missing the point. He may not end up running, so be it. But I still don't understand why they would pull him out if Camelot runs?

nothing wrong with born to sea, though i must say he is a derby horse. get your money on power.

Oxx wants to add weight to Ballydoyle deciding to not run Camelot in the Guineas (for stud reasons imo). Positive noises about BTS pleasing and straight to the race but 'things can change quickly' which dont agree at all then 'agree' with the insider market on here which is showing a strong view against BTS either a) not running or b) not being good enough or c) both.

They dont want Camelot in the Guineas imo for stud reasons. Either a,b or c could apply but hey maybe not and it is normal for someone presumably with information or money to burn to lay him at way above market prices while not clearing up the lay side as more can be made that way. The price at which they are willing to push him out  laying him is a dead giveaway imo. Could be wrong but the market rarely lies and Oxx's clean guy reputation is in tatters for me. He could leave him in regardless but helping persuade Camelot out of the Guineas seems paramount to Sea The Stars stud fees.

Whoever is laying BTS has taken down their long offer price on here now to attract shorter price requests (perhaps after reading these posts).

I agree eric - Oxx lost all his clean guy reputation with me when he ran Hardy Eustace in the Champion Hurdle having said he wouldn't. Not running Minsk in the Triumph Hurdle was totally predictable after those antics.

Going back to NEPHRITE, I too was puzzled by the drift (out to around 30-40), as he has an excellent chance of booking his place in the Guineas by winning the Loughbrown Stakes on Sunday.  The 7f trip and yielding ground will be fine for him and it doesn't look a terribly strong race.  His breeding suggests that 7f is as far as he'll want to go, but Aidan O'Brien said last year he was sure the colt would get a mile, so who am I to doubt?  The form of his Killavullan Stakes win last year isn't that great, but he won it in good style and Sunday's race will give us a better idea about his classic prospects.

I'd not be happy with that entry for Nephrite.

That race might as well be called the Not Trained On Stakes if you look what O'Brien has run in it.

He's never run anything that's subsequently been decent in it, it's like a graveyard for horses that looked good at 2

(Alfred Nobel, Russian Blue etc)

The last decent one he ran was...er...Tomahawk in 2003 and of all the horses he ran in it including 3 winners of the race only Georgebernardshaw (long sold, a 10f AW race @ Kempton off 90!)& Queen Cleopatra (a G3) have ever won a race!

I'm thinking Jupiter Pluvius, people.

Though i'd happily be proven wrong, as like many of us, I thought he looked a good one last year.

Brain melt, should have read of 5 winners he's had not 3.

Fair point, but NEPHRITE boasts stronger credentials going into this race than O'Brien's other runners in recent years, with the exceptions of ALFRED NOBEL and RUSSIAN BLUE, both of whom had busy juvenile campaigns and failed to train on, and TOMAHAWK, who won this race easily and subsequently ran quite well in the Guineas (beaten three lengths, SP 7/1) before failing to progress afterwards:

2012 NEPHRITE 11- (RPR 110)
2011 SING SOFTLY 7-1 (RPR 78)
2010 ALFRED NOBEL 23111650- (RPR 112)
2009 GLUTEUS MAXIMUS 913667333- (RPR 101)
2008 GEORGEBERNARDSHAW 7436-1 (RPR 89)
2007 HONOURED GUEST 22-1 (RPR 86)
2007 TRINITY COLLEGE 147- (RPR 100)
2006 QUEEN CLEOPATRA 4595- (RPR 98)
2005 RUSSIAN BLUE 11123335- (RPR 113)
2004 NEWTON 2119532- (RPR 101)
2003 TOMAHAWK 12228- (RPR 116)

The ones that achieved high ratings at two all ran between 5-8 times in their first season and were beaten more often than they won.  NEPHRITE has only run twice and is unbeaten, so he has a completely different profile.  I'm not saying he's a 'good thing' on Sunday, as we have yet to see how he's trained on, but at least he has a chance to show his well-being ahead of the Guineas...

The only thing that might concern Nephrite backers is the French guineas. Obviously this irish race on Sunday doesn't throw much up, but then again you could say it used to be run earlier in the month. Maybe this has been picked because its on the 22nd ?.....maybe they got the race pushed to that date. If the irish jockey weights get pushed up when Joseph O Brien is funnily enough worried about making the weight, then i wouldn't put it past them to get this race run at a more convienant date. I wouldn't put Nephrite into a category with other horses who didn't quite make the grade. He looks like a good un.

Have we any news on Abtaal - been shortening up the last 2 days Grin

Not read anything about Abtaal in the racing papers . Probably a guessing game as to whether he'll in
the English or French Guineas. Maybe trainer favouring French and owner the English.
If the horse ran in England does Soumillon keep the ride or does it become Hannagan's?
