Crazy. I'm far from convinced he'll appreciate a greater test of stamina either...his full-brother wasnt.

they cut his odds , really ? Im shocked.

He'd better be careful becasue if he runs as badly as that again COT will be eating him for lunch at a fancy french brassiere[;)]

It wasn't that long ago that Alexandrova ran 9lb below her best two year old run (RPRs) on her seasonal reapperance in an Oaks trial. She went straight to Epsom and won as she liked. While it was disappointing to see Recital lose his unbeaten record he still managed to record an RPR only 6lbs below his best two year old run despite not being suited by the run of the race.

I think the post mark given for that race is very dubious indeed. The one that finished in front of Recital is supposed to have suddenly improved by 20lbs, and the one immediately behind Recital is supposed to have suddenly improved by 15lbs, both first time out this season.
Anyway although he might well improve quite a bit I was disappointed and have got rid of all the Derby money I had on at 32. I was disappointed because he showed no real spark, little speed and being kind, he seemed to dislike the going (good to firm) if I was uncharitable he seemed to dislike being asked to go about his business and might be a dodgepot. The idea that he will be able to get Frankel out of a canter is fanciful imo; that is unless he gets soft ground again - then he might be interesting. Unclepunkle is quite right. I feel sure a french brassiere would be a suitable place for him to emnd up, You could have What A Friend Bourgogne and Recital Wellington on the same menu - spoilt for choice. |

I seem to remember Alexandrova being kicked or struck into by another horse as they exited the stalls and that seemed to have an effect on why she ran so poorly that day. Recital seemed to be given every chance on Sunday and didn't find anything.

given everychance!! LOL.
Imo. |

Seem to remember Kieren blamed himself for the Musidora defeat although I can't find any quotes to back this up. My point is that trials don't always go to plan (obviously) so I would want to see what Recital does in the Derrinstown before being positive of negative about his Derby chance.

CoT - Adilapour also improved approx 20lbs on his two year old form when making his 3yo seasonal reappearnce a few weeks ago yet you seem to think that Regent Street cannot possibly have improved so much. He is a well bred animal from a top stable who was probably more forward than his stablemate and was almost certainly more suited to the run of the race. Furthermore he was ridden by a jockey that has surely rode him at home. I'm not saying Recital will definitely win the Derby but I couldn't categorically rule him out at this stage.

I completely agree with you Alileo. Whilst I was disappointed with his run, it would be pretty stupid to write him off completely. It is just April ffs.

Btw Sint have a look at the Ballysax stakes on Wikipedia. It lists all the winners since 1986 and significantly the race times. Banimpire is the fastest winner on the list.

with the moving of rails tho alileo I should take times with a pinch of salt from meeting to meeting never mind year to year.

of course you are right - he has some sort of chance and I had backed him for Epsom on the basis of last season's form. However the form does look dodgy, and that's because it seems not just one but two horses must have improved significantly to make the standard better than that of a fair handicapper. That is possible and if Aiden is aiming formthe Derby trial he mi=ust have high hopes. However my judgemt is that he is either dodgy or he needs significant give in the ground. I doubt very much he will be suited by Epsom myself, even if he is good enough to be competitive there. |

Back in now to some sort of price.
Reckon he had a stone bruise |

Yes, drift out to 28 and then back in to 20 is always a stone bruise.

Fallon rides on Sunday
|
|
By:
where'd you hear that?
|
|
By:
Not sure if that is sacasim or not Duncan but seems to me their was a set back but not a serious one or else he would not race on Sunday.
Fallon rides is interesting. Obviously he be the Derby Pilot with Moore on stoute Carlton House. Fallon the right man to have at Epsom |
|
By:
Can't have him for Epsom at any price - maybe if it poured with rain for a week he'd have a squeak?
|
|
By:
It's on the RP site MM under Frankel scratched etc.
|
|
By:
recital needs softer ground.
|
|
By:
Looks like their main hope in the Derrinstown.
Does this mean the Dante could see the clash of the 3 Derby favs World Domination, Carlton House and Seville or has Seville met with a setback. |
|
By:
Forecast Good/Firm ..... maybe some ground questions will be answered with Recital.

|

So Happy he runs... |

Is this won going to win tomorrow ?

In finishing third he also managed to hang left & put his head in the air and to one side. Okay he was given an easy race (jockey may be lucky not to be banned for riding him like a non tryer) and he will appreciate softer going and a greater test of stamina. but the tote cut him to 8/1 after what was, in truth, a flop. What is the world coming to? couldnt agree more. whats worse for the poor nag is that nick mordin thinks that was a huge run and considers it a cert for the derrinstown. ive laid it and I think giant step is terrific value. [:p] |

I wouldn't be in a rush to lay it today. Well not after seeing the improvement SNA found from his last run.

The Derrinstown trial clearly shows Recital has a leg in each corner.

Correct Ramruna.
Otherwise totally meaningless. |

Hardly looked the performance of a Derby winner to my eyes
. His head carriage is terrible and if he hangs like that at Leopardstown how the heck is he going to cope with the camber at Epsom![]() |

Coolmore's Seville is now a shorter price than Recital for the Derby on here.
Do we know who rides Seville in the Dante on Thursday? Will it be Fallon in order to compare the two? |
|
By:
Seville out to 10 with paddy
|
|
By:
is that a typing error with paddys
|
|
By:
Its priced at 10,not bet it myself
|
|
By:
Seville also 10/3 for the Dante with pp. In both cases he is shorter on here. Perhaps they know something. I hope not, was looking forward to the Dante clash.
