1st and 2nd in Ire champ, so shouldn't complain, but the other way around would have been better. Just need to hope they can find another race for Solwhit. HF did look classy and the Chelt race is looking plenty hot for the first time in a few years.

Leading list now on 371 points.

Best January list on 166 points.

Think I'm a couple of points behind you JOCI. Still clinging to some hope, but probably only find that in subs.

tgt wont matter.........pandorama winning might not be a good thing though

got a line on 397

Correct - Never try and target the TGT but many of our lines had candidates for the Irish Hennessy. Denman was an outside chance for this, but looks very unlikely now. Must hope that the horses winning those races are either unpopular or not in the comp.

I'd be surprised if Pandorama wasn't in the winning list.

If he wins the IH then yes, but not necessarily if he doesn't.

My top list has 323, and a list that looks possibly better has 303.

It's obviously conjecture, but I see him winning the race and then possibly going on to take the GC.

Top list has 386 pts ..would like to think that could make the top 50. This is the first time I have enterd in about 20 years..it was the year Black Humour was favourite for the Hennessey...in those days you lived and died by your original selections..not sure I like the idea of substitutions in February..but good luck all.

I don't like the subs either.
But I'd never boycott them!

Shocked

SNAP! - I have an identical list. Denman a weak choice, but I though PN was the man for the Hen GC, even though I had a soft spot for Pandrama Sad - bit braver and/or more perms would have me sitting happier. Hoping IC nicks something before the GC. Ideally I hope LR flops in the GC and Poquelin wins the Ryanair.

Will Punchestowns or Nacarat run next weekend?

The latter is unlikely I guess, saving him for The Racing Post Chase but will Punchestowns maybe go for the Pillar or whatever it is now?

I only ask because I've got a list where currently 7/10 have won and these three plus Kauto Star are my only non-scorers in January.

REM - that was actually the first list I submitted, and I thought I would start off with just all of the obvious horses, the nbest in their respective categories.

Master Minded / Big Zeb - the best 2 mile chaser (and one each side of the Irish Sea)
Kauto Star - King George favourite
Hurricane Fly / Binocular - reigning Champion Hurdler and likely winner of the Irish Champion Hurdle combined
Big Buck's - virtually untouchable and a banker horse
Long Run - at the time, my idea of the Paddy Power winner
Imperial Commander - reigning Gold Cup winner
Denman - probably gavourite for the Hennessy
Solwhit - to mop up races in Ireland and possible Aintree runner

The weakness is no Irish Hennessy horse (thought Denman might have a squeak) and no Ryanair horse now (thought Long Run might have gone down that route).

Much will depend on the subs.

Yep, I started with the obvious and chipped away. Must say I had most doubts with KS and Den. Pandarama and Time For Rupert were thrown out at the very end (with Cue Card).

SATURDAY'S abandoned Stanjames.com Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock will not be rescheduled.
BHA spokesman Paul Struthers said on Sunday that the Haydock race, lost to frozen ground, would not be saved because meetings at Ffos Las, Sandown, Kelso and Wincanton offer ample alternatives.

after Hurricane fly have gone from 68th to 66th...just goes to show that when the subs come I will have to be really off the wall and be looking for a 20/1 winner at Cheltenham....ironically would have more chance if there were no substitutions in Feb

Was sitting quite nicely just off the pace but with Huricane Fly winning the Irish CH and Pandorama out of the Hennessy i can safely say I wont be winning this year.

Will target my subs toward a Cheltenham prize!

How much of an impact is the Irish Hennessy likely to have now? Can't imagine there being too many lists on the leaderboard with the likes of Pride of Dulcote and Joncol although I may very well be totally wrong. TFR, Punchestowns and Tidal Bay going this weekend likely to have more of a bearing on the leaderboard I would have thought, albeit no bonus points for the Argento

In the top 20 for January

Didn't win anything of course but I've got the screen capture of the January table to hold close to my heart forever.

I just need 4 things to happen to get my lists back in the running:-

1)Cooldine to win the Irish Hennessy,
2)Soldatino to win the Totesporrt Trophy
3)Wierd Al to win the Racing Post Chase (and/or Gold cup)
4)Hurricane Fly to stop winning races.

Not much to ask!
