Sad that was a rough night, more so as i can't find any fault with my 3 biggest bets and feel desperate unlucky not to have been collecting with all 3 to be honest.

Saturday -25pts

Overall -6.25pts

heathlawn tiger was overpriced @ 100/1 curly only has him a few weeks bad draw the next night but if he gets through they think he will get better and find 20 or 30 spots .  Some of the trainers left would not train ivy up a wall,  curly is miles ahead of them

Haveing been at all the heats and watch the replays many times theres worse bets then Vulturi at 66/1EACH/WAY with Boyles and P Powers, i think he is close to being at his best last years form. goodluck

25/1 Ballyhooly Henry caught the eye last round and keeping on the right side of 50/1 Gaytime Hawk. Wouldn't necessarily say Fordeflag is a 150/1 chance (each-way), either

Farloe Blitz and Fair Taxes both got stripes and Ballydoyle Honey not fared much better with a trap 5. Amazing Dude runs in the last heat Saturday from "the coffin" and wouldnt surprise me if he goes out against some dogs staying on

Fair Taxes used to run as a (m) or (w) so don't see being drawn 6 a problem, Blitz will have no problem leading around from 6 unless he misses it badly and Ballydoyle Honey appears one of if not the best drawn dog of all the heats on first look, ain't done the heats yet though

SUPERB ENTRY FOR **** DERBY PLATE

In a great testimony both to the **** Derby and the Derby Plate virtually all the eliminations from the first two rounds of the classic have been entered for the Plate which commences tomorrow night at Shelbourne.

Many of the Derby leading fancies that fell early will be in the line-up and the heat that stands out is Heat 3 where the intriguing Tyrur Van Gaal is opposed by Barefoot Artist, Slippery Fred and Deanridge Pennys.

Van Gaal clocked 29.45 in a 550 trial last Wednesday and three nights later went around in 29.43 when running away with an Open 550.

There are fancied runners in each heat and a fabulous Thursday night card is in prospect.

SUPERB ENTRY FOR **** DERBY PLATE

In a great testimony both to the Derby and the Derby Plate virtually all the eliminations from the first two rounds of the classic have been entered for the Plate which commences tomorrow night at Shelbourne.

I think there were 144 entries for the Derby. After 2 rounds there are 48 dogs left, meaning that 96 have been eliminated. There were 42 entries for the Derby Plate. How is 42 from 96 virtually all?

Just saying like.

Hearing a rake of non runners in the plate and many of them fancied

3 named up to now - Sidarian Teejay, Slippery Fred and Padua Supreme.

Mr H is happy enough with Riverside Pat despite his somersault last week but I guess you can never be sure until they go round again.

As FATTY says we are one of the draw-dependent dogs but with 34 inside seeds out of 42 there's not a lot you can do about it.

thought Droopys Navas was a bet tonight @ 8s but missed the price, a snail up inside in 5, dog in 4 who isn't great up and is going rails, 2 and 3 are average enough although Venture's early gives it a chance and then the top is a screw.

if Navas can come away well he has to have a massive chance and was never a 8s shot for me

the track was running fast last night but jeez what a run Shocked PJ did say he would win the Derby, not many believed him but we now have seen what he obviously was up his gallop, gotta feel though had he more experience and not been trialled so often could things have worked out different

yes there is a reason why he only had a few races and loads of trials, PJ wasn't running his dogs around SPK over an incident for quite a while

Shame no antepost Plate before first round, coz Gaal would have been the bet. Doubt any price now. Said could have been a major player in the Derby if not eliminated first round. Will have to re-think now and plump for an each-way pick. 3 on short-list, will depend on prices

PS Brilliant run but track must be lightning quick. Despite going allowance nearly always given as normal, times have been much faster than usual over 525 and 550 for quite a while. Just hope the dogs dont pick up any injuries

Jeez must remember to log in before reading, Tyrur Van Gaal was 10/1 for the Plate yesterday with Powers

Also the times at Shelbourne have been nothing out of the ordinary recently, most of the dogs are only clocking in the 29.60s-70s bar the odds few going quicker which is what you'd expect from the best dogs in the country at Derby time

Heat 1 - Desperate hard heat, Ballyhooly Henry caught everybody's eye lat week chasing down Ballymac Matt and actually going by him after the line, however in both his heats so far he has turned second into the back and i am not sure he can do so this week. Secreto was another big eyecatcher last week getting stopped everywhere but he still does have a problem in that he has yet to run the 3rd bend at Shelbourne fluently, Ardrahan Zindi has a chance to lead the inside up tonight off a ping but therein lies her chance. Vultrui came right back to form last week and is another with a chance in here in what's an awful tough heat to work out. Jaytee Jet and Rural Hawaii should set the pace on the outside but whichever does not lead surely then will not be winning so they've both got to get it right at boxes. It's a real hard heat and i would not be surprised if any of them won but @ 10/1 i just have to play Vulturi.

Heat 2 - Rockybay Yank just squeezed through on the corner last week and should have plenty of space up the rail again tonight even though he likes to move off but this race is way tougher than last week. Save The Don is a nuisance of a dog, simple as, if repeating last week at boxes he will move off straight into Triangle Jamie destroying both their chances. Paradise Maverik i do not like from this far out. Fair Taxes has a lovely draw again from 6 and will take all the beating, the dog i running out of his skin but at the prices i would rather take him on with Cabra Miller @ 8/1 who has ran really well in defeat in both rounds and could get a lovely run up the middle if 2 and 3 come together.

Heat 3 - Now this is a race!! I absolutely love Ballydoyle Honey's draw and @ 13/8 she is a bet despite not seeming herself last week. Ravenswood Emily and Faypoint Rush are way up against it here so let's concentrate on the others. I cannot have Tyrur Tommy on my mind tonight with Sidarian Vega directly outside who i going to dive rails straight from boxes. Also how on earth do they have Sidarian Vega so short when he is drawn 3 and as said diving left? Offshore Bound will also be going straight rails run up, he is probably the fastest dog in the competition in my opinion when he get space and time to wind up, problem is when he gets crossed, crowded, forced to check etc..... it takes him too long to hit top gear again. All this however leaves Ballydoyle Honey with plenty of space once she holds Faypoint Rush run up (she should) and i can see her turning handy or even leading around and in either situation she will win (unless Offshore Bound i in front of her somehow).

Heat 4 - Ballymac Matt wins again, not much to say, has his draw and should lead all again. I would not be surprised to see Farloe Rumble get knocked out here, he has not impressed me one bit so far and nowhere on the track are his clocks that good.

Heat 5 - Farloe Blitz is simply huge @ 5/4. Main danger Cable Bay in 2 has Gaytime Hawk inside who could pose a problem up but even more alarmingly has Calzaghe Clampet outside in 3 who will be going straight rails, he has a poxy draw. Farloe Blitz on the other hand has Mimis Ace in 5 inside who will be moving rails and will put the brakes in into the bend (every bend, looked something up last week) and Dark Intentions in 4, even off a moderate break Blitz will be leading around and as long as Cable Bay does not get loose which from this make up is surely unlikely Farloe Blitz will be away and gone.

Heat 6 - I could see any of these winning bar the youngster Jo Jo Fantasy, desperate hard race. Ivy Hill Bart has the best of the draw but has hardly impressed in the first 2 rounds, Heathlawn Tiger has a bogey draw and pace up inside him in Creamery Bale. Peregrine Falcon on the fence most think has a perfect draw but if Whizzing Archie come away again he will take the rials off him immediately. It's a no play race for me.

Heat 7 - Blue Cafu is breaking my heart, had good bets on him in both rounds thought he was desperate in both them. I do worry for him tonight though as Lemon Miley in 1 can go up well and more worringly for me is that Shutthebackdoor is bound to trap some night and if he does Blue Cafu is in serious trouble, i would take 3rd place now for the ante post bet and move on. Go Dex Go has been running great but at best think he will be only midfield into the back and also he has Burgess Four on his outide who i good up and will be moving rails. It all leaves Tyrur Mairead with a great draw, i actually thought she ran better than in looks last week, she walked out but showed decent enough pace up before being bumped, she was also hampered on the 2nd. However if it does get messy on the inside tonight she could actually turn in a pitch and then it is game on, PJ's dogs have really tarted to find form as well and @ 12/1 she is worth a few quid.

Heat 8 - I worry for Amazing Dude as well tonight, he would only have been 3rd last week had Offshore Bound kept his mind on the job and didn't get far enough away last week from Lemon Miley, tonight he has Fordeflag and Ballybough Mike in the field and again he may not get far enough away from them early, i hope i am wrong and while i would not like to be laying 2/1 i am not backing him either. To be honest it is another desperate hard heat, will Samiya go up like she did last week? If she does and turn in front of Priceless Lassie well then how does Lassie win as surely she won't back run her. It's a race i will stick with watching.

Bet:

Vulturi 1pt @ 10/1
Cabra Miller 1.5pts @ 8/1
Ballydoyle Honey 3pts @ 13/8
Farloe Blitz 5pts @ 5/4
Tyrur Mairead 1pt @ 12/1
Ballydoyle Honey 6/4 & Farloe Blitz evs doubled 2pts @ 4/1

Running Total -6.25pts

Matters hotting up now and a belting opening heat. Ballyhooly Henry hard to beat on last run but agree Fatty, max respect to Race Of Champions winner Rural Hawaii

Fair Taxes is flying but concerned about the draw and Save The Don could get the run on the race. Happy for Taxes just to qualify with his excellent pace from the third bend

Dont like the draw for Ballydoyle Honey, although she has come wide to win before, sure prefers nearer inside. Sidarian Vega to kick on but Honey to catch him with a bit of luck

Penalty kick of Ballymac Matt who looks set to clock another rapid time. 14/1 Highview Apollo the each-way pick for a place

Noted 6/1 Gaytime Hawk last time, the Easter Cup finalist ought to race in front of Cable Bay and hopeful he can collar Farloe Blitz

Heathlawn Tiger did well last time and may supplement that success

Blue Cafu rather frustrating, so would side with consistent Shutthe Frontdoor

Cant really see Samiya leading like last time, so even though not really a fan, Pricesless Lassie should come through late on the rails if repeating last run, but it's a big if

Good Luck!

nice write up PF gl

Secreto looks a frustrating sort as you mention but 4/1 its a lot of dog, was outside Vulturi last time they met, and with 2 being a strong looking lump don't think much would come off better being on the right of him, no tears at price

i'm in love with Offshore lol would like to play 54 546 sort of stuff but doubt be much juice in that SP
