That's coz of the size of PF's bets rather than his good judgement! Laugh

Would you get a 5 point win bet on these in the shops with a bit of footwork?

Not placed a bet on the Derby myself at this stage. Woefully out of touch, but if Hillcroft had got up on Sunday there would have been a spring in the Derby step.

plenty of shops DV but they've been laying a bit more than usual (layed a 3,000-2,000) for a heat tomorrow (granted between 3 shops)

didn't put it up yesterday as others where also playing so will today

Save The Don 5pts @ 5/4

great draw, just the top to lead and if those outside 3 have not cleared it by the corner they're getting taken out

I know you cant see my posts unless youve decided to unblock me, but that Tyrur Tommy race looks hot. Several could win. Blue Cafu will have a race on his hands against Slippery Fred, but Save The Don looks solid with main danger Blonde Nipper looking very average first round. The very best of luck with all your choices though. Hope you bash the bookies! Laugh

My take is think I'd be laying Paradise Maverik at the 11/8. Looked very one-paced first round. Would be interested in a couple each-way, 8/1 Black Tom (with Amazing Dude not getting the trip at full pelt) and 10/1 Scooby The Star (plenty to like about last time and may chase Ballymac Matt home for the place money)

Main things for me Thursday: Ballydoyle Honey, Gyp Rosetti and Save The Don all qualify

Good luck!

A crestfallen Paul Hennessy has reported that his first round scorer Mucho Macho Man will not be a runner in Heat 7 of the **** Irish Derby at Shelbourne on Thursday evening.

Hennessy says the dog has a serious injury which will keep him on the sidelines for some time and it could be next year before the Sean Hagan owned runner returns to action.

“It is a terrible pity” said Hennessy, who added that, “This dog was just coming into top form and I was delighted with his first round effort. Unfortunately he will be out of action for some time but I am hoping that somehow he might be able to run in the St Leger but, realistically, we could be looking at next season for his return to racing”.

In his absence, Sidarian Vega is going to be a very hot favourite for this contest.

Hopeful of a 2.7/1 double Save The Don and Ballydoyle Honey

Couple of big outsiders each-way for loose change 14/1 Tynwald Rodney and 12/1 Cunning Barney

As well as the two on the double, mainly want Fair Taxes (i know i've a small bet on Barney) and Gyp Rosetti to go through

Looking forward to it

Good luck!

aye bad night, -13.5pts

+18.75pts overall

Some of them ran absolutely shocking, Mimis Ace looked crippled trying to run the bends, pity as read the race right with 1 & 2 destroying each other at boxes. Shutthebackdoor ran shocking, seemingly had problems during the week and Save The Don is a prostitute, simple as. Actually come to think of it Hannibal Rising ran awful too and Gypo in the last was not much better, poor night whatever way ya look at it.

Ht 1 Farloe Blitz blinding early pace. Miles clear but had enough in the tank. Priceless Lassie reeling him in well from third bend, only beaten 2 lengths, 29.60

Ht 2 Fordeflag benefitted from trouble inside to lead the way home, 29.76

Ht 3 Dark Intentions and Blonde Nipper arrived at the bend together with Blue Navajo the meat in the sandwich. Intentions slipped to the front and maintained the lead thereafter. Nipper bumped out of the competition but Save The Don stayed on to comfortably qualify, 29.96

Ht 4 Ivy Hill Bart led to near line where Gaytime Hawk (could be running into a bit of form) took control, 29.70

Ht 5 Peregrine Falcon beat Secreto and Shutthe Backdoor. Blanket finish, messy race (Riverside Pat sadly ko'd), pedestrian time, 30.23

Ht 6 Fair Taxes performed well again, leading from the third bend, 29.50

Ht 7 Faypoint Rush in front run-up, just got round and comfortable. Sidarian Vega was scrambling for the rails from T3 run-up but through, 29.98

Ht 8 Samiya easy, surprise winner over Ballydoyle Honey (said had a doubt about Honey against Derby type dogs.) Just in front crossing line but couldnt hold Samiya round opening turns. Third and no impression on Rural Hawaii back straight and although forced wide last bend, stayed on well to snatch second, but the winner had flown!

Heat 9 - i am loving Tyrur Tommy's draw in 1 and think he can lead around, he didn't run all the badly last weekend although all of PJs others ran like hairy goats, he was drawn far enough out and didn't come away and was well adrift heading into the back, he showed his usual pace down the back and actually impressed me with how well he stayed on up the straight to be only beaten 4.5L, once trapping level i think he has the beating of Barefoot Artist and Laughil Duke to the corner, i actually worry Laughil Duke won't be able to clear Barefoot Artist and will also have Droopys Bomber moving left at boxes who was well away in round 1, once Tommy does go into the back in front and is not followed by Laughil Duke i think the race is over. Jaytee Jet despite seemingly needing the run did not impress me one bit in round 1, i will go as far as saying i thought his performance was one of the most disappointing and even allowing for great draw i think 7/2 is shockingly short, Cable Bay just doesn't have enough up for me to turn in a good enough pitch, really think Tyrur Tommy is massively overpriced @ 9/2

Heat 10 - Paradise Maverik is the  most likely winner but do you want to take 5/4-6/4 about a dog that looked utterly paceless until coming home? He will not be leading up Whizzing Archie if he comes away and to be honest i am not sure he will even lead up Sidarian Teejay and if he doesn't can he back run him? At the prices of the first 2 i would rather be with Teejay but i want to take both of them on. I have been very critical of Material Man in his races around Shelbourne but tonight he does have a great make up and there is enough juice in his price to warrant playing him, he would have been quite a bit closer to Mucho Macho Man last week had he not ended up with the crowd off the last bend. Another that interests me at the prices is Star Ace, he wants to be nearer the rails but if Whizzing Archie is bad at boxes like last week it leaves very little for Star Ace to clear and he could go around in front, i think both Star Ace and Material Man are plays in this.

Heat 11 - i thought the world spotted Blue Cafu's huge run Saturday night (even Woody seemingly spotted it) yet he is still priced up 9/2 with this draw?? After getting badly crowded at boxes in round 1 he absolutely took off 2 to 3 making Paradise Maverik look like a camel (not sure how hard that is these days) and went by Ardrahan Zindi like she was standing still (think she will run a lot better this week). Blue Cafu really impressed me with how well he actually stayed on considering he didn't lead. This week Slippery Fred i far enough out in 4, he will still take a lot of beating but will be moving rails and will have a job leading Blue Cafu if he comes away, Ballybough Mike has a great draw and is fairly priced as with Highview Apollo going rails inside him has a leaders chance with a ping, Highview Apollo is somehow a shorter price than Blue Cafu?? Just wow!!!

Heat 12 - Urban Gossip was brilliant last week, where that came from god knows. She didn't actually ping the lids but showed good pace up to lead, where wa that when we punted her in the Champion Plate semi final?? However she is not guaranteed to go around tonight and then what she does is questionable, she has the pace and the draw to win this race but is way too short for me. I like Coolavanny **** here, he should lead drawn between Gossip and Vulturi and he can build up a good advantage, i fully expect him to stay on a lot better tonight and he is value to beat the bitch in 1. Vulturi has a chance if the race is slowed down or Coolavanny **** blows up again.

Heat 13 - Slippery Snowy rightly favourite after a great performance last week and a great draw tonight with Ballymac Ricky in 4 going straight rails. However does he warrant being as short as 4/6? I am not sure he does, in 6 is my nemesis Tyrur Hagler. He too has a great draw and i do believe is better up then Slippery Snowy and if he leads Slippery Snowy around i think the favourite will find it hard to back run him. Both Rockybay Yank and Burgess Four ran real good races in defeat last week and have chances but their price seem right to me and i think Ballymac Ricky may struggle to get across and dominate this time. At the prices though i have to play Tyrur Hagler again.

Heat 14 - Budgie Bypass ha the best draw, he has an absolute fantastic draw but he literally ran shockingly bad last week and even allowing for the draw i am leaving him. Morning Music ran on well last week but as with last week i don't want to be with him as he lacks early and basically i think can do massive runs in trials but won't replicate them in races. Heathlawn Tiger led for a long way last week but stopped as if he was shot coming home, he has a chance to lead along the fence again and him leading i think would be Morning Music's bet chance. Cabra Miller ran a cracker last week but i worry about his draw as Heathlawn Tiger is hardly rails on the corner and both Morning Music and Hovex Prince are rails. Hovex Prince i think has a chance to get across and lead from 4 and if doing so will take all the beating, he is worth playing at 4/1. That leaves Wee Barneys Son who i has as slowly away and crowded, showed decent pace up, bumped 1st, good pace 2 to 3 and stayed on well, i am playing him at big prices, i firmly believe he i not out of this and should not be the massive price he is.

Heat 15 - I was totally against Offshore Bound last week at odds on but this week @ 9/2 and 4/1 he is a must bet for me. Amazing Dude will take the beating but he is not 100% guaranteed to lead tonight, i rathered playing him at 1/2 last week in a woeful heat. He has Lemon Miley in 1 who can go up well and also Black Tom in 5 who went up well in round 1. If either of these lead Dude he i in big trouble a far as winning goes, all 3 of the dogs tied up coming home last week and this should set the race up for Offshore Bound, the bet is not even dead if Amazing Dude leads as with all the early pacers in the race Offshore Bound should have the time and space to wind himself up and fly home from halfway.

Heat 16 - Ballymac Matt wins, simple as. He will probably do a monster clock and end up short priced fav for the competition.

Beat:

Tyrur Tommy 5pt @ 9/2 (as per the other day)
Material Man 2pts @ 7/2
Star Ace 1pt @ 16/1
Blue Cafu 5pts @ 9/2 (as per the other day)
Coolavanny **** 2pts @ 2/1
Tyrur Hagler 2pts @ 5/1
Hovex Prince 2pt @ 4/1
Wee Barney Son 2pts @ 33/1
Offshore Bound 4pts @ 9/2

running total +18.75pts (was a bad Thursday)

Offshore's a weird dog. No idea how Slippery Fred failed to qualify from that position rounding final bend? Vulturi and Maverik looked a bit like their old selves. Cable was always going to be hard to hold when that handy entering the back straight. Shame Van Gaal got eliminated first round. Could have been a Derby player otherwise, judged on last night's victory

sh1t days..... runs like that , taking a few days off is a great idea , recharge the batteries and start all over . I tend to go back to the drawing board at least twice a year and each time I seem to find its my lack of discipline or basic human error that's fecked me.
