Maybe i should have said Dude one for my notebook. Had never heard of him before. Obviously, your ear is closer to the ground seeing as you live over there. Youre getting very stroppy in your old age! Laugh

Oh, said 4/6 Honey a bit of a farce before the semis. You can get 4/5 now, but your highlighted bet to nothing first 3, 7/2 Streak each-way gone

How many Oaks to the Irish actually have? Two ongoing at the moment, the Irish Puppy Oaks and the Limerick Oaks. PF mentions another on another thread (think the one Cashen Maureen may run in.) Then, we have the Christmas Oaks. All these only to my limited knowledge. Could be many others. Isnt it a bit of Oaks overkill?

We have lots of Oaks too like Angel Of North. Just think there shouldnt be too many events called Oaks. Bring in a bit of originality!

There is only 1 Oaks, everybody knows what the real Oaks are, the others (Christmas Oaks, Puppy Oaks, Southern Oaks, Limerick Oaks etc......) are just top class bitch stakes

Produce (Clonmel.) Gotta fear Rural Hawaii but gone with 9/1 Amazing Dude. Note of warning though, fair few fast times Shelbourne recently so current times might not be quite as outstanding as you would first imagine?

One the best performances I have ever seen from Ballydoyle Honey Saturday night, checks off at the first, gets stopped halfway down the back, no run again on the 3rd, forced wide onto the hare rail at the last and still gets up to win in 28:44

A truly special bitch Grin

Some bitch alright!

Backed the Pearl bitch purely on value with her leadability claims, thought I was due to collect a yard from the lineSurprised

Here we go again, Ballydoyle Honey and Droopys Oddysey look obvious in the Irish Oaks (Shelbourne) and the Barrys Tea 750 (Cork.) Due to being squeezed, Honey has only won her last two races by the width of a cigarette paper, so you would think 4/1 for a 60 runner competition not very appealing. However, her manner of racing is most impressive (can come wide to assert if needs be.) Anyway, unless brought to her knees (sure we all hope not), she will be hard to eliminate and you wouldnt be seeing 4/1 for the final. Good event with Skywalker Pearl sure to make her presence felt and impressive English Oaks winner and recent Scottish Derby finalist Cashen Maureen looking for a piece of the action. However, the each-way stab is 25/1 Springwell Watsy. She has a 28.49 on her card and finished a good second to Leamaneigh Mags Night Of Stars. Just a word of warning though, think she was withdrawn from her last race recently, but if fit and well, looks a nice price

Droopys Oddysey won over 850yds Night Of Stars, is in very good form, hard to get away from and 7/2 seems fair enough to me

Good luck!

Woody a bit of advice.

By the way i see nowt wrong with your bet on Ballydoyle Honey, she looks like she could be one of the best bitches we have ever seen, 4/1 in a bitches comp ain't for me but she is a monster.

However you keep banding out this line on most of your ante post bets: she will be hard to eliminate and you wouldnt be seeing 4/1 for the final

You have to realise that is not the way to look at an ante post bet, probably 99% of dogs that make finals are a shorter price than they where pre competition.
As it stands she has 59 bitches to beat in the Oaks, presuming she makes the final she will only have 5. Does it not make sense to you that she will be a shorter price come then?
If that comment is how you determine something is value ante post well then the whole field would be value

Wouldn't say whole field value. As said, very hard to knock out? Could be 4/9 some races and only needs to finish first 3, en route to decider? Sure lots of people would love to see her win to boot!

Woody the point is the way you talk about "they won't be that price in the final" would then bring in every single dog from 150 onwards in the Derby as if they made the final they wouldn't be that price, do you not understand you're backing the dog now and what price it could possibly be in the final is immaterial to whether it's value now as you have to re-evaluate the competition after every round (as dogs get knocked out).

It's like me saying when Liverpool play Man Utd, they won't be 6/4 if they go 2-0 up (yes wishful thinking)

I would say we might hear plenty about Gavins Trick in the coming months.

Lovely debut last night in Limerick, winning in 28.62 and the pedigree suggests that 550 and 600 will be perfect for him.

Looks very decent.

1 absolute monster (Honey), 2 exceptional bitches (Pearl and Maureen) what an Oaks this is

You must wonder too after seeing how Urban Gossip finished last night and in the semi final of the Puppy Oaks behind Skywalker Pearl how on earth she did not win from where she was last week

Be interesting to see revised prices as think there is a real "dark horse" in here that could turn out to be absolutely anything

They're saving him for the best race in the world and the chance to become the first dog since Spanish Battleship in the 1950s to win back to back Irish Derbies - Time to get over it!!

I'm not really bothered if they decided to miss out on the chance of £250k. Blake will be okay running in egg and spoon races whilst the Derby is on

Aye, but I'm with Lanza on this. Think they had very little to lose. Owner dont like Wimbo, well he should have said that before everybody backed him

Why should he? He never once said the dog was going for the English Derby so he put nobody at all away, it's not his fault some just presumed Laughil Blake would turn up and backed him.

Been playing Shaneboy Frankie in the Barrys Tea @ 20s - think the price is a big rick

He made an absolute mess of the start last week stumbling badly and ran a belter to qualify. Tonight off a better start i expect him to lead early and run this field ragged

Very sad about Maureen in the Oaks but as you were with Ballydoyle Honey. Said wouldnt be 4/1 for the final (hopefully a shoe-in) and good luck if anyone found any more virtual certain finalists that will be shorter in the decider. Pearl didnt fit the category, out

Still say Droopys Oddysey will take plenty of beating in the cup of tea competition

Produce tonight Happy

Irish Oaks

played Lislavene Swift @ 33s, massive price for her as she has still not reached her peak coming out of season and has blinding early

ECC Timber

played Hillcroft Hero @ 33s and 25s. That trial around HRX is very good

ECC Timber 525, Shelbourne

According to the betting, little to choose between the top 5, but i make it between 9/2 Balline Bolt and 5/1 Jaytee Pharaoh (name changed from Flawless Spirit). Offshore Bound marginally disputes favouritism and although decent in trial, might not be quite so effective with 5 other dogs around him, whilst the two Tyrur dogs, Tolan and McDonald, may find a couple of rivals a shade too quick early doors.

So, main bet Balline (good prospect with fine all-round speed) with smaller bet Pharaoh (can make a sharp exit and plugs on), who may have the slightly harder semi

Good luck!

Race of Champions, Tralee anyone? Fine event but looks hard. Paradise Silva has let me down more times than i care to remember, Blue Cafu very much disappointed me at Wimbledon and still think Sidarian Vega not right. So, going 10/1 Rural Hawaii, even though appears to be in the hotter of the two semis

Good luck!
