Just had a look at the antepost market.A lot of the dogs in the top 20 of the betting have got a cloud hanging over them as regards their participation in the event and a couple have been retired to stud. Further down the list you have to my knowledge at least 13 more dogs/bitches that won't be taking part be in the derby for one reason or another.
Doesn't look to have the overall quality of the last couple of years. firms are not exactly hurting themselves with the odds their offering either! |
By:
Vanrooney another n/r
By:
was rumours about Vanrooney and another fancied runner so wonder is the other one true as well
By:
any notable trials last night?
By:
Laughil Blake done 28.30odd
Skywalker Alice done 18.71 was told Spoilsports Hero turned up to trial but wasn't given the first trial so they put him back in the van |
By:
Skywalker Puma had a trial a few days ago and may yet run in the Irish Derby!
By:
it is an absolutely shocking looking Derby this year, talking to Ted and Jin after racing Saturday night and we're all in agreement about this years comp
By:
you're 5 days too late Woody
![]() |
By:
Bit shocked at the strength in depth this year as stated in a previous post. Been looking for a fresh dog to give me a run for my money, missed the fancy prices as left it later than usual to have a punt. Have put all my eggs in one basket and put my faith in Skywalker Farloe.

Just thought it worth a mention. I'm still looking forward to the competition anyway. Well, I would be with 20/1 about the very smart antepost fav
![]() Not your fault PF, but followed you with Mick and the Ardfert dog, not looking good to say the least. You must be in it up to your neck with Hulk doubtful too Looking for a good run from 40/1 B*ylesports each-way Hoping 33/1 Vans gets knocked out Dundalk, well runs in the Derby anyway, like 350/1 Exocet |
By:
Hulk will be fine, Mick won't be running
By:
fine in that he will be running
By:
Can't be any worse than the bollox we ended up with at Don ..
By:
i hope notyou just have to look through the market, Droopys Nidge fav (exceptional pace but still to race out of puppy company), Greenwell Hulk 3rd fav (the dog has a tendon injury), Spoilsports Hero (must be doubts still about trip), Holdem Spy (going on 4 years old and been injured), Vans Viking (running in Dundalk), Sidarian Blaze (awful trial the other week, trip must be a big ?? too), Deanridge Pennys (not running well at the moment), Kereight King (ran a shocker Saturday night, was said to have come off sound), Skywalker Puma (4 yeards old, been at stud for the last year and 33/1 - ffs), Paradise Madison (retired), Vanrooney (out injured), Droopys Ward (good trial last week, interesting at least), Indigojack (struggles to get home, has lovely early, doesn't lead and is out though), Redwood Mick (won't run), Newlawn Impact (would not get 550y on Lance Armstrong juice ffs), Innameovhoff (not running), Slippery Robert (what ****s still have him priced), Fiery Splendour (decent dog, yes i know he done the clock at wimbledon), Vulturi (coming back from injury, thought he was very eyecatching Sat night but 33/1, fack off), Ballymac Vic (great dog but it shows how light the good dogs are at the moment that he and Sugar Ray are still battling for big races), i could go on but surely ya get the hint |
By:
i think hero will get the trip just fine pf,a lot of the better dogs in it need 575+ yards so will be getting in trouble at some stage of the comp to keep qualifying.so far only bet is farloe, cant make cases for the others, might have a small saver on hero yet.
By:
on the bunny i think he would probably see it out, however he was always hit or miss at boxes around Shelbourne and if he don't hit the front by the 3rd one night i can see him being run out of the places, Skywalker Farloe definitely does look the most bombproof of them at the moment
By:
newlawn impact.... would not get 550y on lance amstrong juice.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() are you saying he has a chance pf? this is the irish derby after all? ![]() great post tho. |
By:
PF, what about Cabra Buck, Droopys Norris and Paradise Silva?
By:
Cabra Buck (blew the lids Saturday night and still could not lead Barefoot Apollo, has gone 4 years old and unless they get him on the same *coughs* then nope)
Droopys Norris (is not a competition dog, simple as) Paradise Silva (could possibly be big @ 50s, has the pace to win the Derby but you'd worry about his trapping) |
By:
had a shout for holians p f which is it and what dyer reckon ?
By:
Emers Superstar - great chance if bringin the trapping boots! Very fast dog, has a bad habbit of completely missin it at the start at times tho which is the worry but will be few faster on the bunny
By:
i remember irish's last shout so thought id have a look.
Thought it might be emers with some quick runs. Then thought it might be curious boy..as last run at thurles compares well with droopys jet / mildean phanther times. but then thought irish's connections shout last time came from galway so cross checked it with his other runners. Put european queen into data and nout there? so then checked igb site. Lastrun at galway estimated time looks quick. Is it that one? ![]() |
By:
trouble with raceweek is you meet all the greyhound trainers and they are usually pi55ed
anyhows ... trainer gave me slippery last year and I fecked him off ...... this year he was going on about holians one with a gals name as usual his brain was devoid of any memory by 1 a m and he obviously couldn't think of Emer FFS J P is in the Connaught Hotel this year , bit of a come down but he has the champagne on ice for the plate again.... no change there then ... and dessie hughes has got a big gamble organised but like EMER I'm fecked if I can work out which one it is. |
By:
Was in boyles this morning ,if you do an anti/post bet of e20 or more you get 2tickets for the 1st rd, also if your dog goes out in the 1st 3/rds money back as a free bet.
By:
in fairness to spoilsports their offer really is very good
By:
Holdem Spy already entered. Paradise Silva runs in the last race Saturday
By:
Spoilsports Hero did a brilliant trial tonight
By:
Jimmy trialled as well (over 525y)
By:
Greenwell Hulk confirmed non runner.
By:
