Jet wearing stripes! How on earth does he get round Borna Gem? Agree about Madison, draw against him in red-hot heat. Stays though, better break and everything crossed he just qualifies. Yes, Vic looking good and also, hopeful with Adler. Weak 3rd quarter-final

Cabra Buck done me proud in this competition, everything I thought he could be,massive early and probably holds a little bit backTto have Foxtrot drawn next door in the same heat a nightmare, but fantastic comp, with just a few more youngsters now catching the eye, both Westmeads.

Had a little 9/1 top-up Madison. Risky but if qualifying and polishing up starting, could be a warm order for the final.

Also, like 54/1 Melodys Diamond. Not the smoothest run but still nearly caught Borna Gem

Woodmanchester, P.F. wrote on his weekend write up that Melodys Diamond had come in season last week , so that will be totally against her if they decide to let her run next Saturday, You can get away with if for about 4 to 5 days , after coming in season, but they usually go backwards ,after that .

Q4 = the draw of death.
The vagaries of a random draw with only 3 wides left in of 24 dogs!.  Five of the fastest to the 3/4 in the same quarter final meaning at least one very good dog will go out ( maybe more ) whilst other less fancied dogs will progress from less competitive heats.  Holdem Spy looks like trotting up in his while Vic gets another outstanding opportunity to progress.  Only three wide runners left in - what an advantage to them. Heat 2 is a nonsense but landed upon us because of the shortage of seeded wides making it to the Qrtr stage.

heat 1,  do i double or quit on me vic gamble?  heart says gamble...trying to listen to me head at the mo.

heat 2,  great for those mug Devil spy backers haha.  Got a little up but hoping he makes it through another round.

heat 3,  think i have 5 winners at the mo... gutted for jet and gem with the draw.  Looks worrying with simple in 4.  whos the 'maddest' for the rails simple or rodge?

heat 4,   2 greens in maddy and snowy and 4 massive reds. Not sure what to do yet.

something that made me laugh, watching simple in the 2nd round.  the angle he made from the traps to the rails, i honestly thought he was gonna go through the gap in the rails where they place the traps.

This seeding is a problem at all the Irish tracks. No one wants T6, not even the wide seedsLaugh. That is why you have mostly inside seeds. Many of them would not be inside runners, but if you seed middle more than likely you are going to be out in T5 or T6. Its very hard to win out of T6 unless you have a real genuine wide runner. So with the way this Derby is going it could well be an all inside seed final. So the draw will be crucial.
But that's why so many owners are very frustrated with the draw system in Ireland, as it is made behind closed doors 98% of the time, leading to a belief amongst owners that Stakes are not drawn at all, but just matched for betting purposes. So I'm delighted to see the open draw with no 'smoke and mirrors'.This Derby looks set for a grandstand finish with three great nights to come. Vic will have a huge following next weekend with Kerry up in Dublin for the football semi-final.

i have never seen a draw like this with so many races made up of 3 dogs that ran against each other the previous heat.

heat2: spy bt sooty bt carrow  drawn together again

heat3: isabel bt gerry bt simple

but Shockedheat4: kk bt tsr bt robert and snowy bt dancer bt maddy.

Vic was odds against on here for pieces of silver last night, and 2 A1 dogs against him and one other best grade A0. Some bet at 4/6 sp.to beat Mall Brandy. The week between his races is good for him also, and Liam D thinks he really unlucky in the English equivalent.

Vic was the proverbial good thing last night, as was Kereight King.  Some have spoken about how unlucky Jet was.  Not in my book.  Hot Pursuit was the unlucky one and can improve from this. How he recovered to run on is a mystery. Jet seems to think that the white paint belongs to him and that anything between him and the rail will vanish if he moves into it.  All brawn and no brains!  Madison looks to be carrying a niggle to me.  Ran a great race to find room and qualify.  Looks like he'll go out here, sorry to say.

Didnt realise thanks, Dublin. Would be nice win but only had to be small stakes at that price anyway, so wouldnt lose much. We will see, cracking second to very fast winner Borna Gem, anyway

definate opinion

b365 may have been right in ducking isabels boy but in the long run betting a heat like that they can only go one way. laying 10/1 about dogs going off 7/2 will never work. its only a matter of time before they get one totally wrong and end up paying for it

can everyone please take the rose tinted glasses off re holdem spy. yes he has the poorest 1/4 final but saying he was impressive on saturday in completely wrong. everything stopped at the 3rd bend allowing him to come round the outside he will need ti find at least 5 lengths to be considered a derby winner
By:
woodmanchester
When: 26 Aug 13 08:48
Certainly Spy needs to polish up his starting prowess, terrific from halfway though
By:

When: 26 Aug 13 12:12
don't consider him a derby winner at all
just don't think he'll be 16's in the final
