i have run a top dog with with stitches on the back of the pad and he won doing a top time and by the way im an animal lover too
|
|
By:
I'm quite sure you are johnoo1, but I'm not in any way saying anyone on here is not an animal lover, I just think that because of the three runs for outright success it could ruin his chance to make amends for last years Laurels failure, and I think that will influence the decision. If it was the final next weekend he'd probably run. If it was the semi final maybe, but qt., final ?
|
|
By:
laurels does not really count as long as the wound does not get infected he is a cert to run only one derby
|
|
By:
I am CERTAIN that connections will take no risks with the dog, however, if the dog looks anything like improved and can be effectively patched up for the race, he surely HAS to run! They are all good dogs in the race but he has the advantage of having a kipper inside. He is also - it has to be said - ahead of the others in the field in overall class and form so, even with a not-fully-ft Vic, connections may the take chance of making the first three. With another week to heal, who knows what can be achieved?! It will all depend on what they find on Saturday morning when they open the kennel door - they will have to leave a decision that late, imo! Indian Joe won the English Derby on three and a half legs, after a week of intensive treatment, so who knows.

listen every time u run a dog u risk getting him injured i would say a good few dogs are carrying some injury if the wound stays infection free he will run
|
|
By:
Surely it depends if vic is feeling the injury ,absolutely pointless running the dog if that is the case ,of course with a bit of healing and he seems ok run him IMO ,if the cut holds up and he qualifies should be fine by semis ,,,
|
|
By:
All depends what the vet says today. Could have been more serious than back of pad. I'm on, so obviously want Vic to run but only if it causes no distress whatsoever
|

Been used to losing, after getting good prices,, on strong antepost favs in Derbies in the past, years gone by. Seem to remember Eye On The Storm, Phoenix Paddy (did Premier Fantasy?) and now Puma and possibly Vic. Sure there must have been lots of others, strange really how it should be as many such dogs

The word on Holdem Spy following his withdrawal from the ETS Irish Derby is that he is likely to be out of action for the rest of the year. Darren Holmes, assistant to trainer Carol Weatherall, reported that “He’d never been better than he was on Saturday and ran a tremendous race to win - I washed him down afterwards and went back over the main side to watch some of the other heats, but when I returned to the kennels and got him out again he was on three legs. “I took him straight to Daniel Doherty on Monday morning and he confirmed the fracture. He’s in a cast now and will hopefully make a full recovery in ten to 12 weeks but, realistically, that’s probably this year done for him. “I can only think the injury occurred when he was forced wide at the first bend but you wouldn’t have thought he was hurt the way he ran afterwards. The competition really looked to be opening up which makes it harder to take.” |

He pushed/leaned into the leader ( Slipper Sooty in 5 ) between three and four, as he went to take the lead, causing the leader to ( momentarily - you almost don't notice it ) hesitate. Happened there I think.

No decision made yet over Derby favourite Vic
BY MICHAEL FORTUNE 4:21PM 28 AUG 2013 A FINAL decision on Ballymac Vic's participation in Saturday's ETS Irish Derby quarter-finals will not be made until today at the earliest. The dog was originally due to return to the vet yesterday but owner-trainer Liam Dowling has deferred the visit until today. He said: "I only took the bandage off the foot today and decided not to bring him back to the vet until tomorrow. He deserves the day off after all he's been through. "We haven't given up hope yet, but the dog won't run unless we think he's right and able to do himself justice. Watching him this morning he is walking fine on grass, but is definitely feeling it when he walks on any other surface. "The foot looks a lot better and that is slightly encouraging. But he wouldn't be able to race today and I doubt he would be able to race tomorrow. We'll let the vet have a look at him then. "I know everybody wants to know but we don't know ourselves. We'll give him every chance to be ready, but we won't run him unless he is right." |
|

They can heal quickly these things, particularly when treated immediately. I don't know when the last minute is for calling him in attendance, and/or fit to run, but they should take every second possible before declaring one way or the other. I remember not too long ago a Gold Cup winner was unfit to run on the Saturday. He made it for the Thursday. Kicking King! Miracles can ( and often do ) happen! I certainly hope so because he's a great dog and deserves the chance to win his Derby.

a few irish derbies have been won on 3 legs, well according to their connections anyway...now vic has been declared lame he has every chance of winning it...

who remembers , Manx Treasure ? only decided in Car Park at Shelbourne Park, minutes before weigh in deadline, to let him run in the final ,had a hairline fracture, but went on to win the final

FRASER REPORTS JET IN TOP FORM
29/08/2013 Followers of Droopys Jet must have missed a few heart beats last Saturday when he collided with Hot Pursuit on the opening bends in their ETS Irish Derby heat. Both dogs managed to qualify in the race won by Fairhill Paddy and Fraser yesterday said he was “delighted with the dog. He is in great form but we could do with a bit of luck with the trap draws”. In the Derby to date the noted inside runner has occupied trap four twice, trap five once and he must race from six on Saturday. But Fraser is looking on the optimistic side as he says: “I am just hoping that he repeats his Wimbledon performance when he was drawn in six. He went up straight then and if he does the same on Saturday night then he should be okay”. |

Ballymac Vic is now a likely runner in Saturday’s quarter finals of the ETS Irish Derby at Shelbourne Park.
Speaking this afternoon, Liam said “The vet saw him today and the foot is coming along nicely. As it stands at the moment he is likely to run unless it deteriorates between now and Saturday. “Obviously it could blow up in our face but it’s a risk that we will have to take. We don’t know what will happen when he puts pressure on the foot in a race but we hope to travel”. Back to Talking Dogs |

Paradise Madison has a very hard heat and with a cloud hanging over Ballymac Vic, i'm counting on him, antepost betting-wise and most worthwhile trip-wise. Heart in mouth time at the start
|
|
By:
If Vic out my 300/1 pop Droopys Adler fair chance to reach semis. He's a bit like the way had Airlie Impact in English Derby
|

By:
If its my posts that are referred to as someone "piped up", I was merely expressing an opinion, but perhaps that irritates some on here if my post is not favourably disposed to that persons views. Maybe one shouldn't be copying and pasting so quick, if one thinks they got it right that its time for "Vic to crash out", I have felt that post (26th August 2013 18.25), unnecessary, in the circumstances. I actually feel it is bordering on gloating and leaves a bad taste.

ffs yes i'm gloating, the comment was a wind up towards certain people and they'd have known that and sure the smiley that was with the post was a bit of a giveaway |

nice to see him take his chance,if he gets to the final i hope he runs a bit better than he did at don ,i thought the race was over at 2nd bend, it was but not how i envisaged

Glenanore Dancer surely over-priced at 20/1, on each-way, with Tyrur Sugar Ray, Paradise Madison, Slippery Robert likely to be in arrears and Kereight King facing his widest draw in the Derby so far. Just hope Madison comes through to reach the semis.
Also like 7/1 Melodys Diamond. Every chance Droopys Jet will turn left into Borna Gem, Isabels Boy and Holycross Gerry evenly matched and Melodys could come out on top, if getting a run at 'em. Much will depend on how Ballymac Vic's foot stands up in the first quarter. Some fast-early dogs like Hot Pursuit and Cabra Buck, but overall Vic is capable of a comfortable victory. Dont think the Derby winner will be coming out of the weak second quarter-final. If had to nominate one, maybe Slippery Sooty |

Elsewhere got 9/1 Sidarian Jaguar antepost in ETS 550, hopeful of qualification against Priceless Rumble. Wouldnt surprise me if odds-on Jaxx On Fantasy gets beaten tonight, preferring to have both 7/2 Cathys Clown and 11/2 Airlie Dazzler instead.
Rockburst Pearl returns after a month off and may prove a shade too speedy for her rivals, with useful Ardfert Thunder arguably slightly better over 550. Just hope the wild Fridays Shane dont spoil the race. Every chance Exocet could be withdrawn from the finale, under a cloud, imo. Fancy General Wolf anyway. Good luck! |

Dancer 20/1 ew take a chance it lead Robert 12/1 again same heat got great draw Adler 10-1 VIC could go straight on take the field out there the value punts |

Sugar Ray looks fair at 3/1
Pay the Lolly is no 14/1 shot against Jaxx in the Plate semi |

Heat 1 - Ballymac Vic @ 5/4 & Ballyanna Foxtrot @ 10/1
Ballymac Vic has a great draw and should be odds on. He can't fail to lead those either side of him unless he makes a total mess of the start. I find it hard to see him not leading up Hot Pursuit too being on his inside again unless he makes a right mess of it, once he leads around the race is over in my opinion. Ballyanna Foxtrot has a lovely draw, Hot Pursuit in 4 is turning left and if trapping level Foxtrot should have plenty of room run up. He has yet to really come away during the Derby but has lovely early pace and if Vic was feeling the effects of the cut i think he would be the one to take advantage, i can't have him as a 10s shot anyway. Heat 2 - Fridays Carroll @ 10/1 bloody heck no disrespect to connections of these runners but this must rank as the worst Derby quarter final ever. Anyway Fridays Carroll has ran like a drain the last 2 weeks but there is a fair chance he could go around in front tonight and there is nothingb with the gears of Ballymac Vic or Nothing Simple in here so he may be able to stay in front 2 to 3 and if doing so they will not pick him up. I think the price is way too big. Heat 3 - Isabels Boy @ 4/1 Draw is a bit of a mess here, Melodys Diamond in 3 will surely take a bang off Nothing Simple turning straight left run up as he always does when drawn off the fence, Borna Gem i don't like from wide draws, as for Droopys Jet i don't think the draw for him is as bad as many will think and he is a fair price @ 5/2, with everything inside him moving left he just may get a good run to the corner. As for the other two well Holycross Gerry was close enough to Isabels Boy last week and couldn't pick him up so i can't see why he will this week, if Isabels Boy comes away he should lead around the corner and with the draw the way it is that could well be good enough. Heat 4 - Slippery Robert @ 14/1 + 10/1 & Tyrur Sugar Ray @ 10/1 + 3/1 Simple really, Slippery Robert is the best drawn dog in the Derby quarter finals. Ringtown Snowy is moving rails run up and will be a problem for Madison and Slippery Robert will have the whole outside to himself, whether he can take advantage or not is another question but i thought he showed good pace up last week after not coming away and feel he is overpriced on the draw alone. Kerieght King is a worthy fav here and his main problem would seem to be clearing Glenanore Dancer run up. Madison is better from the middle than the inside in my opinion but having Ringtown Snowy on his immediate outside is a big negative and he will ahve to be good at boxes. Glenanore Dancer must smash and still probably needs something to happen behind him. That leaves Sugar Ray, he was only 3.5L behind Kereight King and after watching the race numerous times i feel it could have been a lot closer had things worked out better in running for Sugar Ray, he is perfectly drawn tonight and if the gaps open on the rails for him i think he will be bang there, he will take some beating in my opinion. Race 11 - Sidarian Jaguar @ 4/1 + 7/2 Thought he was absolutely desperate last week on the 2nd bend and ran a cracker. With a run here he will take some beating and i don't think the draw is at all bad for him. Had played Peads Hawk @ 40s in the other semi but she seems to be a NR No comment on the rest of the card seen as there are no prices available ![]() |

Sugar Ray 10/3 obviously b4 any1 **** in their pants

By:
good write up Prem, Vic tendency move wide from run up sometimes middle/wide as we know, and with Puruit turning left, could be some banging, and Ballyana Foxtrot could get clear run round, albeit Cabra Buck posts fast consistent sectionals. Unlikely Vic had any work this week which is my main worry. doesn't feel like punting night to me. might spend my money on KFC and watch
