Did they switch boxes?  TSR is out of 1 surely?!  Also, if Glenaore holds Kereight down it will be a major surprise. He also will have outmuscle TSR around the bend.  It is some heat.

Jay Trump, your correct big drift on Ballymac Vic and what is more obvious is that all the others in heat one are getting shorter in the long odds. I wonder has Ballymac Vic's dew claw got worse or something else wrong with the Vic ?

I'm with you irish.  Holdem is a penalty kick to make the semi.  If he  gets lucky and avoids the big guns and gets trap 6 again he has every chance of making the final.  Once there he has as good a chance as any in what is proving to be a troubled Derby.  I say troubled in terms of all, the dogs seeded as railers, several of whom are not, and railers clogging up the draw.  Nobody seems to want to be a "wido" at Shelbourne!  A big-priced, not seriously considered as a Derby winner type could win this this year.  Now we see nothing to lay on Betfair with regards to Ballymac Vic.

ETS Irish Derby favourite Ballymac Vic was today described by owner Liam Dowling as “very doubtful” for Saturday’s quarter finals of the classic at Shelbourne.
A very disappointed Dowling reported that the dog sustained nasty cut at the back of the pad in a freak accident in the paddock. “He jumped up against a gate and somehow got it caught. The vet had to insert five stitches in the cut and it doesn’t look good for Saturday. We will bring him back to the vet on Wednesday for a check-up and we should know more then”.
Prior to news of his injury, Ballymac Vic was a clear favourite for the Derby, being generally on offer at 7-2 but 4-1 with Paddy Power. Kereight King is the 5-1 second favourite but there is likely to be a reshuffle in the prices following this news.

Tragic is an over-used word but it will feel like tragedy to connections.  Great shame because great dogs like him don't come along every day and he looked like he was at his very best.  Commiserations to all concerned - they must be gutted.

Very unfortunate and it's hard to see how he will run on Saturday night now. Seems the dog is destined not to win a big comp that his talent deserves.

This is turning into a nightmare Derby.
No sponsor until late in the day.
No ante post market until it was practically upon us.
Very few English raiders of note.
Very few top class pups coming through and contesting the race.
Very few if any provincial dogs causing a buzz this year.
And now a catalogue of injuries to cap it all off.

Very sad to see so many top class dogs dropping out due to injury.

Is the writing on the wall for Tyrur Sugar Ray to win despite being ruled out due to injury before the comp.  Someone has 499/1 on here.

Gutted for Vic and Spy connections.  Vic, in particular, looked like a champion in waiting to me.

The sole surviving British challenger Holdem Spy has been withdrawn from Saturday's quarter finals of the ETS Irish Derby at Shelbourne Park.

The dog had been reported lame as he walked from the track on Saturday and handler Darren Holmes contacted Shelbourne Park this morning to officially withdraw the dog from the classic.

He reported that the dog has a stress fracture injury. He was due to run in the second heat and the line-up for this race now is:

1 Hawaii Kinsale, 2 Carrowgarriff, 3 Fridays Carroll, 4 El Flutter (m), 5 Slippery Sooty (m), 6 Vacant.

look back at 2012 Irish Derby, in Round 3 , there were 3 non runners, in the Quarter Finals, 3 non runners, who else will be out before Saturday night ? Ballymac Vic , very doubtful in heat one , would have been favourite to win that heat , Holdem Spy out of heat 2, would have been favourite to win that heat, the connections of the favourites in heat 3 and heat 4 must be nervous now ?

Are the injuries down to the Sand ??????? Never had so many non runners when Shelbourne Park was all grass !!!!!!!!!!!!

Will Tyrur Sugar Ray sprained hock hold up ? According to Premier Fantasy , Melodys Diamond is in season, and now Paradise Madison is going on a drift , will we get a real turn up with this years winner ?

Anyone know at what time Holdem Spy was officially withdrawn from the derby? Backed it late last night with a firm and am wondering if it had already been taken out given the trainer is talking about the vet confirmed the injury on Monday morning. Heartbreaking for connections but also my pocket at the mo!

Ta. Unless the racing office was shut yesterday how does it take then 24 hrs to take a dog out with an injury like that? Never mind - the perils of ante post betting. I have uncanny knack of picking out dogs ante post which get withdrawn lame.

He was totally flattered Saturday night, it was an awful race and when he shot to the front the leaders came together at the 3rd making it look more impressive than it was - still the plan was going lovely, qualify, qualify, qualify and then green up Sad but how could ya green up when he got that draw

i had that sickening sinking feeling again last night.  After reforming the market after the vic shambles, i noticed i was getting juicy odds on spy which were strange given vic was out and he should have been shortening just a touch more.

Again.... the money never lies and fears confirmed this morning too. Sad  To me... he couldnt win the derby but it wasnt the right time either to lay off all me green and take him on.

Nightmare continues. Sad

When: 27 Aug 13 21:03
no i have not heard anything about Vic but i do think he will run him, this is basically it for the dog, run or retire - i think they will run him hopefully get through and give him another week

i could be way off but i don't see what they have too lose to be honest, it's hardly gonna do anything to his reputation if he runs and it doesn't work out, he will be a massive hit at stud and get super bitches

I'm surprised that you think the dog firstly should run, or else retire, I could not agree. These people have made one mistake, and are unlikely to make two. Obviously  you are forgetting the Laurels at Curraheen and also the big one off race in Kilcohan Park, and then there is the night of stars/champions or whatever its called back at HQ. There must be a huge doubt regarding his continued participation.

Liam is mad about the dog and the dogs welfare will come first. I'm very pessimistic as there are three runs left. However I have been known to pray, as I feel the dog was never better, flew last Saturday night, when the track was slower than previous heats.

How was the the track slower than previous heats for Vic's run Saturday night?? Laugh Borna Gem done 29.57 in the race before, Tyrur Annaleen did 28.42 two races later and then General Wolf done 29.78 in the last, the track ran the same through the night

I'm not forgetting any of those races, i thought Liam said on one of those red mills videos that he would be retired after the Derby
