if he hadn't continued??
when it's broken it's broken.. some dogs can make it back but there is no point bringing Puma back, he has nothing to prove and he has a career at stud waiting to start. |
|
By:
...but Cast, continuing could have made it worse. Still thought he was in his prime. He made my night in the Derby last year. A super dog, dont often come along like him

Just Seen woody
not sure about vic being a competition dog tbh, hes won nothing, was very disapointing in derby final basically a 5 lenght turn around from the semi ..saying that should win saturday and a bit of time between races compaired to don .. King and Junior will be a good race favour king out of the 2 Jet never gets any luck draw wise madison running well spy will keep qualifying clydal jack has nice early but short runner fancy couple of casts in heats madison snowy / vic bandit might play fcast double good luck to all |

Good luck Case. Easy to fancy all the favourites and it would make for the best Derby. Fancy Cabra Buck (fastest early), also like you say Holdem Spy (superior middle gears) and Borna Gem (on-fire), treble pays 9.31/1. In Spy's and Gem's races a couple at 5/1 could go well Bold Three and Farloe Trent. The former has had a disappointing Derby and cost me a 6-fold last time. However, make no mistake, he is very useful when firing, but risky. Trent will attempt to assert late.
Another fav with obvious chance is Isabels Boy. Didnt get chance to show his early gears last time but as drawn, could be short enough here so at the prices, Bouncy Bocko could pick him up, 4/1. Each-way possibles could be 9/1 Airforce Diva (if breaking), 16/1 Glenanore Dancer (only so big coz of very short Paradise Madison but could be slightly understimated) and 10/1 Droopys Adler, better than of late. Good luck! |

When has a dog ever stopped to protect itself after suffering an injury? I am not aware of such an event. The only way he would have stopped is if it was so bad that he could not propel himself forward and that would have been gutting to see.
|
|
By:
Surprised a dog can run with a broken hock though. First injury may not have been a clean break but led to it. I've heard trainers say before dogs have aggravated an injury by trying to keep chasing, it's instinct. Some stop dead. I'm not a trainer nor a vet but probably like you say, a break is a break and it's sadly, game over

some of those heat prices, pmsl

Droopys Adler cant be a 300/1 shot, unless it's lost a leg!
. Can do better than lately and if some of the fast-early dogs go out, who knows? |
|
By:
He has been beaten out of sight in 6 of his last 7 races Woody - he is running cack

What do you like the look of PF?
|
|

let's just say i have some heats priced quite a lot differently, some dogs are mental short in my opinion. think they have a few too big, one mental [good word] big

|
By:
Last week nothing but negativity from the locals in Glan, reported it as heard earlier last week, will see the lads again Thursday, my impression is that they were as shocked as everyone else.

ok, Thanks for that clarification , Irishone. I just thought you had heard something , like he was withdrawn from Derby , when you wrote, "out and gone". I agree with BJG, difficult to see TSR lead in that heat, in fact I would not be surprised if he was only fifth into the first bend on Sat, Airforce Diva and Slippery Robert could easily lead him up along with the two on inside of him, then all to play for if he is only in fifth position at first bend . Might not even get in first three places !!!!!!!!!

When has Tiger Sugar Ray ever been out & gone over 550? He's got a tough draw. I thought Paradise was short at 4/9 given that Snowy may well lead him. Vic is short as well at 8/11 and Jet is too short at odds-on imo given that Hot Pursuit is a cert to lead him.
The value could be in heats 2,3 & 4 where over-hyped dogs are favs. Clydal Jack could be a bet at 9/2 given his flying early from the ideal trap. 30.00 (before the 0.30) will win that heat. Fair play to Bet365, they continue to put their heat prices fierce early even tho they continue to make a balls of their prices ![]() |
|
By:
BTW, the bet of the Derby must be Borna Gem to be top bitch at 7/4 with B365. She could be the only lady left in after this weekend

By:
With respect Child, wouldnt be so sure about a couple of statements. Snowy may well lead Paradise (i would doubt it quite a bit) and also would doubt Pursuit a cert to lead Jet
|
|
By:
do yu think Madison is a 4/9 shot then Woody?
|
|
By:
Not for me. Liked Lanza's 7.0 outright though and would be as big a win as Puma now. Backed Vic again, too. Renewed excitement about trip. Fear Jet and Kereight though. In Paradise race Saturday, ended up doing the forecast with Glenanore for second. Pays decent odds 365. Madison clearly the one to beat, dont think much to choose between the rest. Just happy if he gets through at this stage though. He's a great dog, imo but still think Puma would have been the one but for sad injury

I know i said Bocko fair at 4/1 to pick up Isabels but Isabels himself not looking too bad at 2/1 now!
![]() |
|
By:
Isabels Boy is a terrible price at 2/1 ffs
|
|
By:
11/8 365 must be lunacy then. Isabels didnt get a run early last time and although T5, could see him popping out and getting clear. 2/1 okay in my book. PF, we will agree on something, one of these days!

By:
Isabels got no run last week, dog in 3 took a flier and cut straight across him. He got trouble after that too on run to bend. Isabels should lead these up and what does Nothing Simple do at the bend then?
|
|
By:
I know he got no run last week and i'd say i'm near the dogs biggest fan [absolutely love him] but even leading which i don't think he is 100% guaranteed to do with the draw the top has if 2,3,6 and possibly 1 turn 2nd to him what price are they to back run him? Also he would want to be well clear of the top at the bend as where will he go? i think we'd be thinking along the same lines as he'd go the same way as the last time i bloody backed him [a lot lot lot lot more on than this time
]I really hope i'm wrong though as if he don't lead this time he ain't qualifing in my opinion which would be no good to me |
|
By:
Childofmine what price should Vic in your view ?
Woodie well done last Thursday great treble. I think we will have a new clear priced favourite after this weekends action. |
|
By:
My bet of the saterdays heats Would be in heat 7..rockview turbo 12/1 with bet365 1/3 the odds a place, i thought he ran a verygood race in the toughest heat in the 2nd round[ north bound and silva went out]..he might need luck early but 4/1 a place is a very good bet...and who knows borna gem might not get the break she needs to win.

By:
Bold three 66 had a ew splash looks so close to call if droppys jet got 1-2 will win it
|
|
By:
Flappy, i've had small fry Bold Three, too. Not sure youre right about Jet though. Had T2 in English Derby and Vic still finished ahead of him.
Frank, if you think Turbo go well you could consider the f/c with Gem to win too, pays 12.75/1 with 365. You know what they say about a bitch in-form ![]() |

good point wood.

Melodys Diamond looks big at 4/1 behind Borna Gem for me

metro john - have been following ballyana foxtrot for a good few months now, is strong dog, just 24 mths, and came 3rd in 4 round Limerick (his home track) Petworld comp which I believe is a Cat 1 event (our Irish friends may well correct me if Im wrong) he is coming on nicely and if he can show a bit more early he might get a fair bit further in the comp, not sure his tims ae up to the big boys but might improve. Is a litter brother to Mountjoy Rebel
