I was a little disappointed,or ponderous really about his runs just prior to his Derby heat last week, and very interesting to note the reason Philip G gave for those runs in the video.
IMHO he has a great chance of landing this years Derby.....

Happy with Vic and relieved Cain got through too. Gave outsider Wozniacki a shout and the dark horse could be one of the Tyrur's best hopes this year.

Some equally fast runs, so surprised to see Vic as short as 4/1 now, let's see what Maestro can do but cant usually lead like the first round and, impressive though he was, doubt we will see him clock any faster.

Jet caught by Puma but would beat most clad red. Incidentally, IGB results say that Jet was 14/1!

Ballymac Vic needs to sort his starting out, didn't come away well in round 1 and stumbled at boxes last night, hasn't been a problem yet but could be from now on.

Sparta Maestro has gone quicker already than he did last week, he doesn't have to lead and given the way this Derby is working out i think he is the one they all have to beat.

I would never class Tryur Sugar Ray as a lucky dog. he has had 5 four times and 4 three times out of 11 races and considering he is bang rails he's had no luck. He would have picked up Allen Master for 3rd even without the trouble in my opinion.

Things may not get any better for Sugar Ray trap draw wise, so far 18 rails, 3 mids, 3 wides through to round 2. 8 more wides to run but i can't see more than 8 wides going into the draw [at best].

Anybody any opinion on Droopys Jet? Ran the first **** and his tail went up in the air and then seemed to run the 3rd desperate slow

sparta hot a cake walk tomorrow !
In your view is 6 a good trap to win the derby? Cos think that's his number if he gets there!

does he run that close to rail week in week out very cat like know his rails but he was riding them?

When: 10 Aug 12 09:57
Yeah once he traps and clears Sawdust Terry early that is that. Yeah 6 would be fine unless it's Camas in 5, that is the only draw that would really worry me

Having read what you said about Sugar Ray and the draw PF, think railers like Jet will also need luck when coming out of the hat.

I know youre a Maestro fan and useful though he is, i maintain he wont lead again and it's a well known fact strong dogs clock best times when leading early. Whether the trainer has got it perfect with improvement to come as you suggest, i doubt, seeing as he's put in the odd below par run in the past. Having said all that, i still see him as the biggest danger to Vic and it wouldnt be a surprise if he won the Derby

I was talking to Emmett Heg last night and he says turnover has been poor enough in the ring, deffo down on last year. He says he didn't strike a decent bet until Vic last night. I seen Larry getting stuck in, but he gets stuck in on a Wed night graded card
By:

When: 10 Aug 12 16:52
Chopper if he's (King Larry) getting stuck in to a graded card on a Wednesday nite well Shelbourne Pk is the only place you can do that.Limerick has no betting at all, no bookies there for a while,(back now again),Waterford has one, same with Youghal, and  Curaheen Park has a few some nights but none willing to lay a half decent bet, Tralee was good for the Sky night otherwise pretty much dead, pretty sure Thurles and Clonmel are similar, so imho the game is virtually dead.
Very few breeding now as pups cant be sold.
If you have a half decent dog i.e just shy of open class, say A1 or A2 you have little choice but to play away as you wont sell. Now if you have A4/A5/ A6 well your stuck with them, as you cant give that class away. Now if your caught with the lesser lights down in the lower grades well well your in a real bad situation. You cant sell, as sales are hardly ever on, and if you make it to a sale you'll have to give it away, some one might take it if your lucky.Obviously cant keep them all as pets.
Just say you breed a litter, and get 5 pups, stud fee 1K, and a grand a piece to bring them to be ready to run their first race.(if they chase and avoid injury). So thats 5K your out and very little hope of a return. The game is gone and lots of tracks will close in the near future, cant survive, but no one cares.

Little top up Vic at Power's 6/1. Either that's okay or 8/1 before his win last night was a joke! Got Marathon and Imp and tomorrow. George, Crash and Bolt to a lesser degree, fingers crossed

Anyway, dont worry PF. Things will start hotting up soon and come final night, sure you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Going to order my entrance ticket soon anyway, could be a sell-out. I paid £25 the year before last, not cheap but well worth it. Not sure what to expect with the Plate, Stayers and Sprinters but sure it will be a fine card. Slightly better chance one or two English raiders may come over for one-off races rather than back and forth for the Derby too Happy

A sell out, PMSL. It's a billion to be a sell out, last year i sat in the pub about 5 going through my phone book ringing anybody and everybody offering tickets we'd so many. There is no athmosphere in Shelbourne Park anymore, well very rarely. There will be final night but there is no buzz around the stadium about the Derby yet in my opinion and there usually is from the first night.

As for English challengers on Derby night, i wouldn't put any 4 bend dogs on the card if i was Declan or Justin [bar Mr. Hunt's of course].

You know better than me PF, but everytime i've been i've had to breathe in on the terraces and you cant get near the bookies! Laugh. Maybe it has changed but i was there not that long ago, McGuig's Derby. If you wanna throw a ticket my way for a pint, i wouldnt shout! Wink

Have none yet Woody and don't plan on getting any bar one for myself and the few lads who are going in with me, pain in my ass last year going in and out to give people tickets and almost missed Milldean Panther's race.

Alien Planet has already been around in a trial in 29.14 before he raced. He'd be too old for the puppy race though so would have to go for an all aged open.
By:
woodmanchester
When: 10 Aug 12 18:32
Think connections would have no qualms about an all-aged open seeing as he nearly ran in the Select. Dont think it's good to rush youngsters but he's in the Gold Cup heats Monday with the likes of Taylors Sky, Silverview Perky and Tudor Prince, so let's see how he comes out of the race August 24th, if he reaches that final

I think Newlawn tock 9.00 will be my nap tonight.. with slow starting dogs in 5 and 6 the race could be set up for this underated dog. also Kingo 5/1 WITH BOYLES loks a good value bet in the 8.45.... heading off for a few days to dunmore east so i wont be at h.q tonight good luck with your bet lads.Happy

Seems Camas Crash was due to run Thursday but didnt. Even more money down the drain, like Panther, Sand, Phoenix and Judicial. What's a man got to do?! Sad
