Derby was inside the prison-not a good place to have your dog locked up for time finding.

Chris, Ladbr0kes bought Leeds which was a successsfull thriving track, and closed it down to sell off the land,at a huge profit. Leeds counsel (clearly annoyed),said they would not allow the land to be used for anything but sports purposes so it remains unsold/used.
I think Northern Sports have had the same problem with Long Eaton,(although they were always builders). |

By:
Thank you Mack, others I remember were Southall which closed about 1975 to make way for an Asian Community Centre. Slough which left us in 87 became a Co-Op which did not succeed and closed down and when I saw it looked rather sad, but last I heard was it was to be a Sainsbury store. Wonder if the old Dolphin pub and Slough FC Supporters building are still there?

Spennymoor just wasteland- weeds and a lot of rubble.
Pity great running surface - not my favourite track at the time. |

Anyone know what happened to Ramsgate? That track used to be packed to the rafters on Kent St. Leger night.

chrisjake is the new forum resident idiot ging,i'd take no notice tbh.
I think he wears doubleditto's sandwich board on weekends, hence we have to read his drivel all fu ckin week on here, unfortunate but "thems the breaks" as they say. |

The old Hull track became a supermarket which itself subsequently closed. Catford just derelict land now I believe.
Someone said New Cross became houses but I thought it was just an open space now for local residents, rather than built on. Anyone remember the Geekay dogs that used to run at Derby. Geekay Patch was a good one - ran in a couple of rounds of the Derby circa 1982. They were trained by someone called Kenney I believe (furst name began with a G, hence the Geekay prefix). |

Slippy B.,
Ramsgate is now some sort of Garden centre. Occaisionally pass it by. The Racing Greyhound pub still exits, marking where the entrance was. Always used to go for the Kent Leger night. Loads of faces, busy market, great days. There is a good you tube of Scurlogue winning there. In hindsight viewing races from that era shows how far the sport has collapsed in terms of people through the gate. |
