Am really disappointed with Rahm - would have been my best result

By:
Rahm a bit away from Majors for me.
Temperament not good enough. |

4 from 8 some achievement if converts by way. Really is...

I think the finest round 1,2 total ever in major history.. That qualifies as rounds, not round of the year for me.. Stop betting every man and there dog bar Brooks, its simple. ![]() ![]() |

thoughts:
1. this is over. 2. this is the way the game is going now. brawny beefcakes who can power the ball 340 off the tee and can have a wedge in even to long par fours. in the future 90 percent of the players might look like him. personally I find that rather sad, that the game is dominated by power, but that's life. 3. koepka's main strength is between the ears, like tiger before him. even more than his ridiculous length, although that doesn't hurt. 4. tiger looks like an old man compared to koepka, who is in his prime. the masters win disguised the faults. 5. fleetwood still can't handle being in the limelight. needs to get over the line in a pga tour event badly, imo. 6. it's a shame for spieth that he's up against a monster in his grand slam bid, because he's going along nicely. his only hope is to cut into koepka's lead today and then hope the beast falters on the back nine sunday. doesn't look very likely. 7. fowler going well. I think it might help him going forward that koepka is so dominant. noone will expect ricky to win a major anymore, because noone will expect anyone to win a major other than brooks. Stop betting every man and there dog bar Brooks, its simple. it's their, but your main point is valid. winning percentages in golf matter. brooks has won, assuming he wins this one as well, four out his last eight majors?! I think since I got into golf I was used to watching the big ones get shared around, that's the problem, so I'm not used to this kind of domination. and he's not done. I don't care what courses the next two majors are on, the market should adjust and he should be 4, 5-1 tops. if not then even I might be tempted to back him. ![]() |

should have added if Spieth was to fell the beast that would count as his greatest achievement, but yeah straws and clutching certainly spring to mind, although he can do it a different way, hole a lot of putts and hope that flusters koekpa, who looks like the sort who could get rattled under pressure (jks)

Thinking about it now, it's probably 4 from 9, you've had nine majors if you include the period from the us open at erin hills to this one. think he's raised the bar, the only thing that might stop his domination continuing is his own motivation, power game these days is everything. if Spieth can get back to his 2015 form then you might have a genuine rivalry, or if mcilroy wakes up, but these are all big ifs. |
|
By:
actually rahmbo might be his biggest rival going forward as he's young and he also crucially has the power game as well, but doesn't have the temperament that brooks has. but he is a lot younger than brooks...

Koepka is 10-1 for the us open currently, that's just wrong.
tiger is 8-1, 9-1 with some bookies ROFL. did no one watch the last two days? even I'm going to back Koepka now, if he stays at that price. |
|
By:
Might be 4 from 8 if he converts as he was injured for last years Masters.

Put 200 at 12s on Koepka for the Open.
He hits his driver as far as I hit driver, 3 wood, short iron. |

10's and better available for U S open at pebble Beach...lock and load guys.

Not to in any way rain on the Brooks love-in but, declaring this over, I think it'll be very interesting now to see how he gets on at Pebble and Portrush. His 4 major tally is very impressive, but all quite similar in a way, and as long as the PGA and USGA keep setting up tracks like this that need you to bomb it 320 down the middle he's going to keep winning them. Now I want to see a bit more nuance from him, and Pebble and Portrush would be the perfect places to show it.
He's about to overtake Jordan in majors but for me Jordan winning a Masters, an Open and a US Open still demonstrates greater versatility. And of course there's the fact that he doesn't win regularly in other tournaments - is it simply because he can't be bothered or is there more to it? Quite possible Brooks does become the dominant player of his generation, and a win at Pebble or Portrush would certainly go a long way to showing it, but I still want to see a bit more versatility from him. |
|
By:
looking forward TB I am very keen to see Adam Scott take his game to a Links course and reckon if he can continue to putt reasonably he will be a big contender at Portrush
