Only one bottler here - Sterne is 4 ahead with 7 to play and can't close it out when par in would be enough. Shane played the last 7 in 3 under -closing out with the necessary birdie.
More battling than bottling from Shane I would respectfully suggest. |

LOWRY GETS THE JOB DONE...phew ! Lowry has held a 54-hole lead just three times, converting the first when memorably winning the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009 but finishing runner-up at the 2016 U.S. Open and T8 in the 2017 Turkish Airlines Open. The OWGR #75 slept-on-the-lead of three shots from Richard Sterne and five from third-placed Ian Poulter. His remarkable performance on the par 3s made all the difference this week where he was 10-under on Nos. 7, 12 and 15 – all birdies the first three days - while he was level par for the other par 3, 4th hole (one bogey, one birdie today). 6 -under for the four par 5’s also helped and only eight bogeys all week (ok, 4 were today). A STERN charge on the front nine would have rattled most - with 6 birdies, and suddenly Shane was behind by three – only a sweet birdie on 18 the sealed the deal for Lowry...just...phew!...was sh*ting myself & himself too !.
