no of course not but if you're an older guy who's not going to win by ten shots then using the psychology stuff against them, might just make the difference.

but i guess for rory it's more important being known as a nice guy than winning every tournament. for tiger it was the opposite.

No sooner had the 2017 EUROPEAN Tour ship been primed & ready to launch, than we receive a message from ground control - Wee RORY aborts his mission to become World #1.

A stress fracture in one of his ribs - “To be forced to miss this week through injury is really quite annoying to be perfectly honest,” he said in a statement. It was McIlroy’s upper back that caused him discomfort last week at the SA Open where he said that he “tweaked” his back before the start of the second round and nearly withdrew. He took anti-inflammatories and played through pain for the rest of the event, eventually losing in a playoff to Graeme Storm.

The field was to feature 81 European Tour winners with 327 victories between them (64% of the field) including five previous EUROPEAN numero unos...

Lee Westwood (with 23 wins)...European Number One (2000, 2009).
Thomas Bjørn (15 wins).
Darren Clarke (14 wins).
Rory McIlroy (13 wins)...European Number One (2012, 2014, 2015).....Rory knockers happy, but a big loss to the organisers, TV ratings, etc.
Ian Poulter (12 wins).
Robert Karlsson (11 wins)...European Number One (2008).
Martin Kaymer (11 wins)...European Number One (2010).
Henrik Stenson (11 wins)...European Number One (2013, 2016)...2016 Race to Dubai winner dusts off his clubs for the first time this year.

Meanwhile, Masters champ Danny Willett makes the trip to the Middle East as does American Ryder Cup stars Dustbin Johnson and Rickie Fowler.

Am in a nice position on both tournaments where I have numerous options. One bet I will not have because of the draw in groups betting. I think that Alex Noren is quite decent value against his playing partners on Sunday.

WHAT IS IT WITH THESE SPANISH and Abu Dhabi in 2018 ?????..... Appearance money all taken by Dustbin & Rors ?

Rahmbo tees off shortly in the wrong desert (in sunny California)
AND
Sergio in rain delayed Singapore (shares clubhouse lead with three others, while Oosthuizen is still on 16th with same score).
