hard to argue with that point

Countering against the Premium Charge you shouldve invested in Tiger with the Bookies and Layed him on here and if ur bet is a winner then ur lay on here is a LOSER thus stopping ur orbit into the PREMIUM CHARGE ! That is if u had the sense to realise that you are close to taxed on here before u get too close ! being a winner gambler but loser on here HELPS alot !

OP, could you give me 2000?
i will pray for you in return |

I fear the Weasel Woods will let his brattish temper take control and he will be dragging his bottom lip through the rough all week. Wish you well however KR.

he means if you had backed tiger with the books at the same price then laid him on here if tiger did win you have a large loss this market to offset your premium charge. think of it as a "reverse arb"
![]() |
|
By:
But if he backed with the books he needs a cool million in his BF account to trade
Not everyone has a million in their account I'm fairly sure... Although he actually might. Safe to say he knows what he's doing I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt. |

tempted to lay off to leave a big juicy green on Tiger?

I am hoping Rhino! I just hope KR is able to lay him off and soon! You guessed I cannot tolerate whinging Eldrick!

Best of luck to you KR, decent enough round today.

By:
KR strikes me as the sort of person who would let a bet ride. Go for it, son.
|
|
By:
Tiger will be in the mix and we all know how good he is when in contention, looked to be swinging well and if the wind blows has his stinger which is a key shot off the tee. Looks like the weather might favour the later starters tomorrow too so he looks to be on the right side of the draw.

This must be teh most retarded bet of all time..... Im quite a big player (probably bet in about 5-10% of Knighrider stakes..... and I often bet at 9/1 /10/1 here if 10/1 available at bookies due to ease - 10.5 here was an OK price on woods but only if you not a premium charge payer... so in effect KR is betting 110k at 6/1 when 10/1 available + all bookies offerring it so quite haoppy to lay - indeed Laddies would take 5k froma new account so would be easy to get 100k on if making an effort via all bookies....
I do like a drunken bet though so GL with taht.... secondly - You must be delighted how woods played - I think 6/1 now looks like a great price so no harm done.... GL.... |
|
By:
Ps I would speak to your account manager about getting this premium charge waived (do it now not after teh result) as this is definitely not what teh premium charge wasintroduced for......

I don't get this PC (am pretty sure it will never affect me so no need to worry), but I thought that single big wins weren't included? Unless KR is winning 50grand a week on golf!!!

|
By:
man up and put your 'big' bets up next time flash
![]() |
|
By:
Brokelad (not aptly named I hope), broadly speaking one big win IS excluded when determining whether someone is eligible to pay the PC, but once you are eligible for PC, as KR obviously already is, the premium charge will be applied to the profits made thereafter
|
|
By:
Surely you'd have been able to drip-feed this in on purple over the week rather than pay 40%? Liquidity was very solid, and if you'd have gone a couple of ticks under BF you'd get snapped up for the arb, and still have a better price than losing 40% of your win.

do we need to make this thread another PC debate
![]() the world and his wife know its better to punt elsewhere these days not had a bet on here since yang beat tiger in the uspga greened up after day 2 at 1/4 and got the letter goodbye blue, hello purple ![]() |

How do we know KR pays the premium charge?
might not play on enough markets to qualify |

Cheers Aussie Driver (the name is a fairly apt reflection unfortunately!!) 40% of that much is a shocker! Still, a dilemma I wouldn't mind having atm lol.

Fair enough TB
![]() in that case why would you bet on here unless the bookies wont touch him? |

If you are a PC payer then you are effectively in a 60/40 syndicate with Betfair, clearly with you doing the hard bit. Thus KR is really only risking 66.6k here if he loses as he will be rebated the 44.4k in the future by not payinhg PC on other wins.
The big risk for all PC payers is that they become long term losers. Then Betfair cunningly withdraw from the 'syndicate' and no rebate ever materialises. I'm sure this scenario is highly unlikely for KR and as such it is irrelevant whether he has 111k on here or 66.6k elsewhere. |
|
By:
Good post Bayes. It's by no means clear cut so I'm not surprised some people have called me a 'clown', 'retarded' etc.
But I've weighed up the likelihood of my continuing to make money over the next few years, which I think is good, and Betfair will be taking a 40% cut of my LONG-TERM earnings, this is very different from taking 40% of each bet. So it is wrong to think of it in terms of getting 11/2 instead of 9/1 etc. Any losing bet creates a new premium charge 'buffer' for future earnings. |
|
By:
Must admit Tiger looks a bit big here compared with his SP, particularly as he usually stays silly short in running. Presumably this price is nowhere near a lay for you KR?
|
|
By:
Yeah I've got no interest laying off at the moment. Fortunately I am on Scott as well so that helps mitigate the risk somewhat.
|
|
By:
KR - Surely being as sound a follower of Golf as you appear to be, and having watched many struggle with the conditions this morning, and also viewing the likely forecast of worse weather when the Tiger tees off.... you would have to be thinking strategically now?
Maybe you just love the ultimate "live by the sword, die by the sword" swashbuckling existence, and can afford it. Either way, all the very best to you. |

green up

a shrewd bet by kit when there was no wind
tiger can't control the stinger in the wind |

By:
why the feck would he green up if he believes to have good value, tiger is also in a decent position to push on so greening up now would be pissing money away long term
