Managed to win 10k which was my best result of the year, the new PC kicked in the week after so that has killed it for me regards big wins.
Not sure if the 2010 thread was a jinx but I never came close to that win after. It's probably due to there being no short priced fav to get stuck into these days. I will play this year as usual ,try to lay well in-running but I won't be starting with a red on Tiger as it stands now.Risky ,just hope he has a fast start. |

Yes, hard to see how anyone can make a profit if PC of 60% is deducted, cant make sense why betfair want to push away all the layers as it seems counterproductive to me. anyway, best of luck and hopefully you can achieve a nice three in a row.

My best bet this week is Bubba Watson (95).
Even though this is a short course i think the big hitters have a big advantage on so many holes. The 6th carrying the fairway bunker leaves a short iron to the green, the 11th Bubba is probably the only player that could hit this one in 2 and the 15th carrying the rise leaves a short iron to the green. Also holes 10,13 and 16 the long hitters can get close to the green on these holes. As for the rough players missing the fairway by 30 yards are likely to be better off than those that miss it by 5.(Seve proved that). Expect the scoring to be a lot lower than people are predicting , -10 is my idea of the winning score. Other bets Nicolas Colsaerts 100 John Senden 200 Anders Hansen 170 John Daly 340 |

senden decent odds
rough will kill bubba--to wild off tee |

Lee Westwood 17.5
Jim Furyk 85 Jason Dufner 55 Zach Johnson 160 Nick Watney 120 Martin Laird 130 John Senden 200 Jeev Milkha Singh 220 Rafael Cabrera-Bello 190 Carl Pettersson 310 George Coetzee 230 Richard Sterne 480 Richie Ramsay 400 Sang-Moon Bae 500 Alejandro Canizares 620 Johnson Wagner 710 heres my tiny little team. hopefully they'll all trade at odds on at somepoint and can lay em all off. :) |

Holes 3 and 12 will play the hardest this week. Nearly every other hole offers bidie chances (7th good eagle chance) so a couple of bad holes can easily be recovered.

@ Canaletto - thanks. For me punting is a way to spice up an event, it's not a way to make money. It's fun to get the occasional payout, but in my case it's a bit too occasional

Westwood is starting to get very short. I'd much rather be on Donald at nearly 150% of the price.
In fact, like Rory at 25s (that's when I jumped on) Donald's price is fast approaching 'must back' status for me. His shorter length shouldn't be a big disadvantage here, while his accuracy will be a big advantage. Or at least that's what I'll be hoping ![]() |
|
By:
Donald isn't accurate, just the bollux at scrambling and bunkers
|
|
By:
Donald has admitted this week his mind set is fragile in majors, can't have him on my mind at the price
|
|
By:
Fair enough TMMIDWI - I thought he was deliberately short, but straight off the tee.
@ dean - that's also fair enough, but I wouldn't call Westy a pillar of stability between the ears. Both guys have a ton of class though, so hopefully one or other of them breaks through at a major soon. |
|
By:
Bob Karlsson out. Not being replaced. Might as well get manassero out of the market then.
|
|
By:
Can not back Rory, Donald, etc yet......they are late starters tomorrow and will drift out further....however if the class players who starts early plays poorly then jump in and back the late starters.

damn had karlsson as a free bet aswell

whats up with karlson?
|
|
By:
Had to back the Boy wonder at 26s, with no real wind he seems a great price.
Also taken a good piece of Larrazabal at 470s seems a big price to me for somebody who has a great short game. Started moving some money away from the outsiders into the real contenders as the weather forecast is not an issue. Parts of 53 golfers but trading has gone well so far. Biggest greens are Havret, Larrazabal and Canizaries |
|
By:
Apparently Karlsson's "head was not right". whatever that means. Not replaced as that takes the field down to the 156 mark.
|
|
By:
"Have got into some bad habits in my game and routine that I need to address. Taking a few weeks off," said world number 54 Karlsson on his Twitter site.
|

By:
are the 3-balls changed because of karlssons withdrawal?
|
|
By:
seems to have been quite a move for colsearts, must be doing the biznis in practice or something.. or someone has tipped him up other than palmer/chappers
|
|
By:
Think it's just traders moving the Colsearts price. Reckon he'll be back to 100 in a minute.

What a corking 4 days weve got to look forwards too.
Im making a little book on it, going to put player in day by day, got els ( cant him at all) poulter and kaymer losers at the mo, hopefully put about 20 players in during the 4 days and see how it falls |

K.T. Kim @ 1000...
![]() If that is the real reason for Karlsson's withdrawal, then he should be ashamed of himself. You don't get that many chances to win The Open in your career. I'm sure that in years gone by, the likes of Young Morris, Thomson, Nicklaus, Watson, etc, etc, have not felt that great on the eve of a major. A true champion gets his head down, and battles. I think there must be more to it than meets the eye. At least I hope so. |
|
By:
As a bit of interest i've put £10 on Tim Clark @ 270 and £10 on Gregory Havret @ 560.

He obviously reckons he has no chance. |

3 against the field for starters...
Fowler main bet but still looking to get matched @ 42 - impressed last year (well documented I know). Larrazabal @ 470 - in decent form and proven on links. Mulroy @ 1000 - impressed in recent US starts and worth a chance if weather ok for early starters tomorrow. gl all, enjoy... ![]() |

Went today and had a good look at a lot of players - several stood out for me.
Bubba Watson - played just brilliantly early on in awful conditions. Kept the ball low and shaped things well. Course management in strong winds was A1. Both Johnsons look bang in form, Zach especially. Rory was only on the range but looks much better - 25's is a ridiculous price. He could win by 5 shots. Westy was putting poorly, Kuch's irons were off and Baddeley just had a shocker (he practiced for 9 hours today!). |

like ' get in the hole ',posters who say certain golfers can win by 5 shots, should be banned Last time they turned up for a major on a course softened up by rain Rory won by 8. McIlroy is one of the few who has the talent to blast the field away. Granted he has a had a ropey few months but his price looks big. He was getting matched at single figures a few weeks ago. If their is little wind then he has a great chance. |
