Have added Rory at 23s. He was pretty competitive last week and can see more of the same here.
Team so far: Rory, Lefty and K-Chap. Still looking to add Tiger and Rickie if they drift another click. |
|
By:
Rory's price is getting very hard to swerve...
|
|
By:
Rory's price would need to increase in multiples before i'd be getting on - 3 missed putts from 3ft in Round 2 last weekend - the demons are back!!!
|
|
By:
might back rory and then lay him to miss the cut as well....
|
|
By:
Rory's now hit the price he went off last year (22-23). I know the course is unlikely to suit his big booming draw but surely he's better than a 22-1 shot. I'm a backer at that price anyway.

SO have you just come back from a cruise somewhere ericthecat ?
|
|
By:
Nice to see you back, eric. I was going to say very symmetrical, three groups of six, then you spoiled it adding Big Bob,
I don't really fancy him or McDowell. Both seem to be lacking something at the moment. Looks like I'll have a team of about 25. |

ok, i haven't pounded westwood yet. so my book currently is:
125 free bet tigger 125 @ 8 25 free bet dufner 25 @ 26 50 free bet ponce 50 @ 41 tigger +870 dufner +620 ponce +1995 laird +223 ryo +2280 other AS will do one of the following before the off: A: lay off some tigger to back DJ,rory and or westy and that should complete my octet. already backed a little ishikawa @480's. B: i have so much faith in dufner that i'm almost pondering shifting most if not my ENTIRE tigger profit onto him and doing none of the above on rory, DJ and westy and keep it simples. leaning towards B right now with a twist of westwood . |
|
By:
Can't be having Dufner around this course.....like most......would rather wait and see how they cope on the first day before backing more......any trades now would be useful to lock in some profits.
Can never see Westy winning a major. |
|
By:
Ski.. You can't be having Dufner round this course ???
Hits it long, and straight, and then hits the green. I would say that he is ideal for round here. |
|
By:
Add to that, the fact that he has got the win monkey off his back, then that makes him a good thing, IMO.
|
|
By:
Donald, Rory, Westy are starting from hole 1.....would expect them to be over par in the first 6 holes.....Donald probably be the lowest of these 3 if scrambling (no.1) becomes necessary.
|
|
By:
Maggot...i agree but the course is different....many doglegs.....greens are sloped....fast.....fairways tight.....i did say 'most'......to me this event is going to throw up a shock winner....hence why i need to watch the first day and see who can handle the course......finally i would think that course management skills would be very important around here.......and patience.
SO what would be the lowest score of the 1st day........i would go for -2.......what does everyone else think? |
|
By:
Done the spreadsheet, not placed any bets yet, but I have just laid my sixteenth consecutive loser on the horses, nothing bigger than 4/1, lowest 2/5. Highly delighted, but number seventeen, Kenyan Cat in the 4.50 Haydock, will probably win now.
Team of 29, excluding Westwood or Donald, left Tiger, Rory, Phil and Justin out as well. |
|
By:
Can't believe that, apart from a little possible from Pokeron, no-one has mentioned Dustin Johnson, either as a back or a lay.
Impressive last week. So, the way things are going with this, I might halve all my stakes or give it a miss completely. |
|
By:
Rory McIlroy for me - I appreciate he hasn't been playing the kind of golf required to win this event and the chance of him winning the US open in successive years makes it even more unlikely but at the current price and encouraging signs in Memphis last week barring the last few holes he may well just be playing himself into a bit of much needed form! Will look to add a few others but want to see who handles the course on the first day!

Looking forward to a great week....played on a proper US OPEN course...Here's my short list..For what its worth,i think Scrambling is the key stat around this track..
Rose Maham Stricker Bo Van Poulter Kucher Oosti Jacobson Will add Donald if his price moves out inrunning..Goodluck to all, lets hope, unlike last year we get a good trading week... |
|
By:
One selection....
Luke for me...not messin about trading anyone....time for him to step up to the top table on a course and set up that should suit perfectly...gl all...![]() |

Don't laugh but in addition to my main bets as posted earlier I've had a few quid on here at 1000 on Michael Allen. His home course, on fire on Champions tour & a good straight hitter.
Obviously he isn't winning but with his decent t time I can see a good start from him meaning he could trade 150 or less. Also backed him at 250s e/w for 1st round leader. My other 2 trades on here are Knost who I got a decent chunk at early 1000 and have worked a nice 'free bet' and Cink who I just have a hunch could have a good week & will shorten up dramatically from 400+ if he does. Can't wait to get started now as is my favourite major [apart from last yr when wet conditions ruined it.] Enjoy everyone ![]() |

4 man team Tigger,Westy,Luke and Poults class will out i hope...looking forward to this
gl everyone one of us will win surely.![]() |

Questions to be asked.
Is Tiger back to his best?Answer,No,won the Arnold Palmer by 5 with Bubba, dufner,Rose,Zack Johnson & co all behind,2 weeks later was tied 40th in the Masters, occupies the same position at the Players then wins the memorial yet again. From 1997 to 2007 Tiger was in the top 12 in driving distance,2008 44th,2009 21st,2010 26th,2011 71st,2012 30th. Its a fact his length was one of his great weapons, particilarly on the par 5's,but its also a fact that a new generation of golfers have come along. Some of Tigers shots from fairway to green were breath taking, but Mcilroy,Dufner,Dustin Johnson,Zack Johnson,Bubba Watson,Scott etc all have this ability. Last appearance at Olympic in 98 was tied 18th !!. Tigers officially the greatest ever at finding the hole but hes not the greatest golfer ever,YET.Is Mcilroy in the same form as last year, have to say YES,his form is very similar to last years prior to the U S open, played well enough last week in the ST Jude, some of his shots to the green were awesome. Worries,Tigeritus ?Is he like Woods showing to much interest in the fairer sex, although that said it didnt do Eldrick much harm ,might be a plus, small stat ?,no player retained the U S open since 88/89,Curtis Strange.Drifted alarmingly in the betting, slight worry.anyone any info on that ?Have heard he was invited to throw the opening ball of a local baseball game Tuesday, maybe his showing to much interest in other things and not concentrating on the golf, price drift suggests someone knows something we dont. Has Luke Donald the steel to win a major, followed him a long time, before his rise up the ranks had him down as lacking a bit of something,34 majors and only 6 top tens later thats still my opinion. Is Phil Mickelson in right frame of mind, can be very wayward off the tee, admitted he needed a break recently after withdrawing from the Memorial but 2nd 5 times in this.General plays been good this year. Is Jason Dufner good enough, interesting interview recently,"ive hope its as hard as possible and the rough is deep because soon as players start moaning about it thats half the field beat straight away.If i play my game i can win this tournament". Hits fairways and greens, great putter, good atitude,mr cool on course, threw the PGA away last year but looks a more confident player now married, interesting. Has Dustin Johnson the bottle, has bottled it large in the past but so did big Phil and Rory, this happens to many top golfers, the transition from being a good golfer to a major winner, this guys to good not to win one but maybe not this week, wasnt happy to see him win the St Jude if this stat is true, think i heard no one wins in the week prior to winning the u s open,is that modern day? Is Adam Scott playing well enough, has said recently "i had a tonsil op prior to the season starting, although i missed a couple of early tourneys its not affected my season but i cant seem to put 4 rounds together this year". 7 top tens in majors but none in this one. Tied 8th in the master, tied 15th in the players this year. Is Bubba Watson accurate enough off the tee and wheres his game at the moment.Took a long break after winning the masters,2 tournies since been tied 18th and missed cut,99th in driving accuracy, tied 5th in 2007. Has Oosthuizen got the motivation, seems between a rock and a hard place after recent comments " 3 most important things in my life,my family,my farm, golf,in that order". Else has said"wish he had a bit more fire in his belly,on his day can beat anybody". Forms not good great lately, but it wasnt before he won the British Open.Has said he finds to hard to retain his form at times. Lee Westwood.56 majors,13 top tens, unlucky or bottler ?well im in the Tiger/Rory camp on this one, love p u s s y but not when it has man boobs and a funny grin !! Have a nose through that maggy, its free.no charge. ![]() |

Bo Van Pelt has won once in his career on tour and has choked away a few chances and is wanted @ 60.....Mark Wilson has 5 career wins ( 2 in 2011 & 1 in 2012 ) and is available to back @ 470. I would doubt very much that either of them will be winning but who is the guy wanting 60 about BVP ??? I have a second hand car for sale

Olympic, according to the World Golf Hall of Fame author and journalist Dan Jenkins is “where the wrong guy wins every time." Only if you thought the right guy was Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson or Payne Stewart. And a great many did. Including Jenkins, who, from Fort Worth as was Hogan, properly idolized Ben.
The idea Olympic is the “graveyard of legends," as emphasized at each subsequent Open, developed because in the first one held there, 1955, Jack Fleck, from a municipal course in Iowa, upset Hogan, as well as people named Middlecoff, Snead and Littler. Fleck, using Hogan clubs, caught Ben over the final holes and then beat him in the 18-hole playoff. When 11 years later the Open returned to Olympic, located just across a highway and some sand dunes from the Pacific, the plot was similar. Only the characters had changed. Arnie was the man and with nine holes left also was the leader by seven shots. But he stumbled and Billy Casper gained, and, lo, another playoff, won by Casper. If people thought it was a fluke, well, it was Billy’s second Open championship. So there. Not until 1987 did the Open come back to Olympic. This time it was Scott Simpson, the classic plodder on a plodder’s course, finishing a shot in front of Tom Watson, who had graduated from Stanford 30 miles down the road. In 1998, Payne Stewart was leading several holes into the final round, but Lee Janzen was the winner, for a second time. Not much of a personality, said the critics, but they couldn’t criticize his golf. For those that havent read it,very interesting facts associated with the u.s open venue this week. |

J-Day at 95s is another at a cracking price this week. Generally turns up at majors, and was second at the US Open (and Masters) last year. Not in the best form, but you can't go wrong at the price.
